Oh Em, that does sound like it quite the oddessy how has recovery been?
Mirimum: we had the same when i was planning DD2s birth. i think many ppl believe that HB is done with no planning or preparation that you just waddle around the house and out pops a baby little do many know that most HBs take ALOT of planning and preparation and knowledge is the key. i never knew so much about my body or baby or situation in general as when i was preparing for DD2s birth (as opposed to DD1s where i just followed along the path directed by the OB...who was nice and all, but you know, not there for me ITMS).
Hi everyone, I'm 8weeks with my second bub, due late Jan / early Feb planning another homebirth after having a wonderful birth with DD at home 2.5years ago!
Welcome Turtlejane! Congrats on the new little one on the way!
Yes, it is funny how people look at homebirth. I was reading through a birth story on another forum, and was thinking the whole time "This would have been so much easier if you had just stayed home!" The birth went fine, over all, but every difficulty was hospital related - packing up the other kids and dropping them off, driving to the hospital and encountering bumpy roads and traffic troubles, trying to get up to the labour and delivery floor in hard labour, trying to answer admitting questions while in transition, being required to lie down for monitoring, having to hold still for blood work, having to wait to push until the doctor got there, etc., etc. If she had stayed home, everyone would have come to her, and the whole business could have been much easier!
We're doing well here. DH got fifth disease as well, but he's over it now, and Anna has thrush and we discovered she has a femoral hernia, but that's no big deal right now, and should close on it's own. She slept so well last night! Only woke up once between 11pm and 8am.
