I had DD1 at 38w and each pregnancy after that always seemed long lol. DD3 felt especially long as we had to try so hard to stop her from coming early at 34 weeks that once i hit the magic 36 week mark the rest of the time was sooooooooo slow lol.
Im ok.. spoke to my midwife this morning and they arnt worried about the bleeding just said to rest up and they think the next few days will be it. Its just DH goes back to work tomorrow so now Im going to have 9 hrs a day where I am home alone with the kids... and I guess I just like having him around all day.
at the most baby has 17 days otherwise it will be forced out, so the end in near.
Beatrix - the end is in sight, but those last few days/weeks are so hard! Hope you can find some enjoyable distractions to help you wait out this last little bit. I'm sure it can't be too much longer now.
Has anyone ever heard someone ask for a home birth for kind of odd reasons? I just heard someone (again, on another forum) say they REALLY want a home birth because they can't take pictures in the hospital. Now, I'm not a photographer, so maybe pictures aren't as important to me as they are to some people, but that seemed like a bit of a surprising reason to choose a home birth. Everyone is free to birth where they want for whatever reason they want, I guess. I just never considered the picture taking to be such an essential part!

I would hazard that the 'no taking pictures' thing is probably just a highlight for that couple of how constricting the hospital is?? I for one, would avoid like the plague ANY hospital that banned picture taking...like, what are they doing in there that they seriously dont want documented?? eeewwwwwww.
Could be. What she said was that she loved looking at post-birth pictures so much, and so many hospitals don't let you take delivery room pics anymore, so she decided she wanted a homebirth. But the "no pictures" policy does sound a little overly restrictive, IMO. I've never encountered that one, but I haven't been in too many hospitals, either! And it may well be that homebirth was something they were considering for a while for many reasons, and this was the "last straw". It just struck me a little funny as I was reading it.
At my first birth I mentioned that i'd considered video recording the delivery, only to be told that it was against hospital policy 'in case something went wrong'. My first thought was 'why the cover up?!' I've never been questioned or stopped about photos though, and I've got some juicy ones.
I'm opting for a homebirth,
one) because I can (so long as they approve me )
two) because I want my DD and DS to be near me, and
three) because the hospital isn't necessary for me I don't think and being home is nicer.
Never heard of the no pictures policy? but then again not been one to want that sort of picture either LOL
My student midwife is taking care of our pictures, she knows none of the business end LOL I am more after emotions on mine and DH faces when he holds baby for first time and we discover the sex.
I think my friend has arrived to drag me out on a walk LOL apparently this will help bring on labour according to her, meh personally I want to nap.
I really don't understand the no photos thing. We have heaps of photos of DD1's c/s birth, taken by the theatre nurse. You would think of any delivery where it might not be allowed, that would be it. The photos of DD2 at home aren't quite as good ironically, because the lighting was suitable for birth, not a photo studio (or operating theatre).
I keep getting annoyed at Call the Midwife, because in all the homebirths, they show Mum up on her bed on her back! Most Mums at home do not lie on their backs in bed!! I feel like writing in to the show. Maybe I should see if they have a FB page.
There's another British doco series called The Midwives, which follows NHS midwives as they work, both in hospital and in the community. It features homebirths in amongst the deliveries and a few lovely midwives who talk about how much they prefer homebirths. Some of the hospital deliveries do my head in, but interspersed with homebirths and home visits I can get through it. I can't go near any of the other hospital shows without getting seriously annoyed.
Jen, that annoys me about Call the Midwife too, especially because I otherwise love it, but my understanding is that women 'delivered' on their back or side lying during homebirths in the UK at that time...the writer explained in the books that that's how the midwives were trained.
Had midwife app today.. BP is perfect and bubs is 2/5 engaged with what the midwife thinks its hand by its head.. lol as she was feeling the head in the pelvis you could feel the added lump near its head and see it moving ROFL
s & s booked for sat lunch if bubs doesn't come before then
Beatrix I'm glad your bp is still good hun. Bummer about that hand, hopefully baby will move it out that way before its to late! Did nd not do a s & s today? I reckon if I was you I would've insisted!! Or at least I'd be having a go myself if she refused but i dunno why any good mw would in your circumstances. Have you been doing epo yet? I'm sure its what got things started for dd2.
HSM- nah midwife prefers not to do s & s til 40 weeks so I respect that. Have had my own feel and I'm def at least 2-3cm anyway not thin but not thick so hoping I go on my own anyway.
