I called my midwife when i had a feeling that i might be in labour as a 'heads up'. that way she could get herself kinda organised to have to come to me if needed. maybe a call as a heads up to your SIL...it is amazing how sometimes your body knows to hold off until your peeps arrive to help you out.

sending many birth blessings your way xx

Is Loulabelle still around? I haven't seen her in ages.

ETA - I probably seemed really rude then because I didn't congratulate WM - thats cos I've already said it a few times on facebook and in the BA thread LOL

    But uh, congrats again? lol

Woo hooo! Congrats WilliamsMummy! Can't wait to hear all about it.

By the way, I was just thinking over Caleb's birth, and remembered that when I was pushing, I had one contraction that started, I started to push, and then all of a sudden I just about blacked out. The contraction instantly stopped (only 10 seconds in or so) and I didn't totally lose consciousness but it was a very weird feeling. It was a nice little rest! The contractions had been almost constant, never really letting up, so I definitely enjoyed the break, but I'm curious what was going on. Has anyone else had something like that? It's never happened to me before in any other delivery. My blood pressure was fine, and the midwife didn't seem concerned when I told her afterwards.

Cricket maybe it was a vaso vagul. Believe it or not lots of people black out or have heart attacks when straining on the loo.... Similar mechanism may have happened when you pushed.... Not certain, just the first thing I think of when you say that.

You know you are getting close to the end of your pregnancy when you wake up with an anxiety attack! I had BH's from 4pm yesterday, which was fine, took some panadol before I went to bed because my lower back was aching as well, and then I woke up about half an hour later with the shakes and lots of anxiety. Took me a while to realise that all my flashbacks to Eden's labour in this pregnancy is due to the fact that I don't know how my midwife will be during the labour. Will she be like the midwife I had with Eden and just sit and watch me, and not offer any real support when I get scared, or supportive words, and have no faith really that I can do it? And give a really painful VE? Or will she be like the midwife I had with Sahti - kind, loving, supportive - she was always there for me when I needed her, she told me I was doing well, she was on the floor with me through contractions holding my hand through transition - so HUGE freak out last night because of all these bloody BH's and I haven't discussed it with my midwife!!!!!!

Thankfully a friend was on facebook at that time of the morning (I was awake between 11 and 2) and she helped calm me down, and join the dots together to get to the point of where my fear was coming from - I must talk to Mary today and nut it out what type of support I need. Maybe I'm more desperate than some people for reassurance because of my low self-esteem, but it helps having people with you in birth that have no doubts you can do it - and DH and I did not get that impression from the midwife I had with Eden. In my (somewhat messed up) mind, I see myself screaming for help in that labour and her not reaching out - just sitting in the corner watching me. Watching me suffer. Sahti's birth has obviously gone better but not erased it, and since its a new midwife for me - hellooooo anxiety.

Anyhoo. Uh. Sorry about the babble. Just needed to blurt. lol

Oh big hugs arimeh!! Yeah def have a big chat to Mary and tell her what you want and crave. Everyone needs something different. She will try to meet your needs if she knows what they are.

Yeah we rescheduled my appointment from tomorrow to today, so I drove up to buderim earlier. As soon as I saw Mary I started crying - I'm such a sook.

She was lovely though and listened to my crazy hormonal anxiety ridden vent and said that she will be very supportive to me and not do what Jean did - I have to trust her, which is hard cos I have trust issues - along with many other issues LOL

But she did a s&s as well (with my permission) and even though his head is free floating, she could feel it on the other side of my cervix, made me laugh with her poking him and saying something about Morse code to get him to come out. I guess its because my cervix is so far back that the heads don't need to be engaged to be able to feel them.
