Thank you for the warm welcome ladies. I am excited to be part of this group.

SJ I figured it was time I join

I am time poor at the moment so I am sorry for the lack of persies. Hopefully I can find some time later to introduce myself properly and get to know you all a little better.

Callum Elias born at home 1:30pm today. We haven't done stats yet but he's perfect!

I had a long night of prelabour and went into active labour around 11:30am. I felt so connected to the baby the whole time and kept telling him to come.
I'm thrilled my midwives and sister and DH were all present. The kids were perfect and stayed in the other room until it was all over (dd said she didn't want to 'distract me' god bless her).

I finally reached down and felt baby's head and face as he crowned and was the one to catch him - something I've never managed before.

He's fed well and is sleeping peacefully now.

I feel amazing and so blessed. I know the next few weeks are the toughest part of the journey for me.

At least I'm starting on the highest of highs. Love to all and a birth story to come soon I hope.

How wonderful, Arcadia!! Plenty of time for numbers, glad you're enjoying and connecting

MW appt was good, but belly is still measuring at 28 weeks (I'm 32 weeks). She called the GP who initially flagged it last week and I'm seeing her on Monday for further discussion and possibly an u/s referral. One distinct possibility for the measurement is my pelvic instability - I have a waddle, for sure, and whether that's from deep engagement or just the SPD being horrible not even the u/s will pick up. I guess it will be time to find the head in earnest on Monday! I'm about to drop a line to the mw from the previous birth to see how I tracked for that pregnancy. I'm sure the others didn't drop that far, but no-one's pressing alarm buttons just yet.
    Ho hum...

Arcadia: congratulation. Wow wow wow, that's the best new. Glad you had a nice birth xx

SJ: I always measure small and scans can be so wrong! Hope your GP is supportive.

Meow: how was your appointment? Mine was lovely, she is lovely.... I'm getting a wee bit excited but will be happy after scan tomorrow.

Congratulations Arcadia!! Sounds like a wonderful birth!

So glad your appointment went well Tegam! My MW appointment didn't really happen. It was for 9.30am and she had to cancel for a birth but said she'd be able to reschedule in the afternoon... then she emailed again at the end of the day to say she was a second birth! She was going away today but nipped around to do my blood test that needed to be done this week and we're rescheduling the book in appointment for another couple of weeks when the results from this test will be back. It was great to see her again anyway and I really like her

I hope the scan turns out fine SJ xx

Oh that's a little bit disappointing meow! But it will be our births soon enough and they take priority I guess lol

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18

She really put herself out and delayed going away for a few hours to come and see me and she was super apologetic and said she really wanted me know I was a priority and that my stuff is important to her too. Which was really lovely. When it comes to the birth though then yes, I want the MW to cancel appointments to be there so I do understand

She was only secondary MW for these births that's why she was going away and also why she was a little busy I guess. She only takes on 2 clients a month.

Great meow. 2 clients is not stretching yourself at all. I didn't even think to ask how many my midwife takes on....

She did text me today and ask if I'd have a third year MW student follow me. I had one with Dd3 and I know it wasn't her fault that it was such a horrid birth but I can't help but feel that at times I was more worried about her learning new skills than I was about myself.... Ideas/thoughts anyone/everyone? Also this midwife practise already has two midwives attend the bigotry, three sounds like a crowd.....

And finally I had my scan and there really is a baby in there 8) and in the right spot! How exciting

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18

I had student for first two but not for the third. I did stress that I wanted it to go ok so that I could show them how well a homebirth could go. It was nice not having that stress for the third. But I look at it like if I was a student I'd like to be there. But at the end of the day if it impacts your birth then no is the answer for you. I also know that students can do the follow through but they don't have to attend the birth if you don't want them too. Eeek you're having a baby!
