Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Bella I only just got to watch your birth. Wow words elude me. You said I'd cry but it was my like weep! Every part was so moving. 'I just gave birth' your daughter being so gentle, the first feed, your words at the end..... Oh so so so beautiful. Thank you for sharing
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Aww thank you tegam! I rather foolishly watched all the short clips that my videographer gave me after the birth tonight and truly horrified myself about how hard it was! I sent her ad my Mw a message tonight to just say they could go off call, cos I was gonna delay the birth for the next few months! Lol! Aww sh$t! It is such hard work giving birth! So now I have scared myself stupid!
I'm sure I will be fine actually. I think once it starts and the hormones kick in, I will just have to get on with it and it will be ok. I just hope it is a tad bit quicker this time.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Yes hard work but yes it's work the body knows and was designed for. I'm a little confused how I have managed to do it before without help..... And I've done it four times! Surely it's always natural to see our big bellys and wonder how we will get them out. But you also looked like a birthing goddess. Please promise me you will have another YouTube completed by the time I birth!

:
TT I don't think I'd show anyone my photos. I just want them for me :) but boy like you I am SO glad that people get photos and videos and share them. Wow I love a good birth photo :)
And yes totally agree I have no plans to have anyone extra at the birth that's for sure. Sneaking outside and popping a baby out with no one knowing is my plan :) whether I tell my midwife this or not is yet to be seen
You have to show me lol!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
But you are special eenee

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Well I am not sure if things are starting here, or if it is just a bit more regular bh. They are like my normal bh only coming ever 5-7 mins, even when I am sat still. They arnt much more intense than my normal bh, just more consistent really. Ok, a little more bitey, but not enough to say "yep, this is it". Anyway, I guess time will tell. I'm gonna take two panadol and have a spa a bit later to see if I can get it to settle down. But just in case, wish me luck.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Good luck bella. I hope it's labour but I do the same thing about three times in the week before bubs come..... Panadol and a spa sound perfect! I never believe I'm in labour until a baby comes out or my waters break lol! And I've figured it out that labour actually is more like period pain than like BH contractions
Good luck

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Yeah that is what I am wondering tegam. Last night they were ten mins apart all night. My last birth, I had that a couple of nights before the birth. I laboured on the Tuesday, but it started like that on the sat or Sunday. So it may be a repeat of that style of thing. Only maybe more regular, because I have has more babies now, and my uterus is more receptive?

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Sending you beautiful birthing vibes, Bella. Try not to get too hung up on what happened last time. I am not the only Mumma I know who's found each birth a journey all of it's own! Take this ride as it happens. Xx
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Exactly as Jen says. It's a ride and only the baby knows the length. (Enjoy) every part as a special bond with your baby. Use your spa time not to focus on 'is it or isn't it' but about this little one and how it's about to change your family in such a positive way. Loving your daughters and your husband all that bit more as you watch them love this new baby xx
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Thanks girls, will keep your wisdom in mind. I don't think it is happening tonight. Just a bit of notice that my body is more ready than it was yesterday. Just about to pop into the spa now :)

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Sneaking in... Bella I wait with baited breath!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Thanks ladylove :). Not yet. But you girls will know first. This feels like the place I can share most openly, even knowing that this isn't completely private :) I don't want to have him tomorrow, cos dh is oncall and my photographer is away. But after that I am all go! Have been thinking Friday maybe? We will see. I have a gf who is 43+ weeks atm, so it is a reminder to me, that that may happen to me too, but I doubt it.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
43+ that is 7 weeks longer than I was pregnant with DD2. Hard to imagine.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Bella I hope the night was gentle and restful for you....or that you've had a baby :)
If bubs is still in utero I am sending you many birth blessings.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Sending lots of love and positive birthy vibes your way Bella. Look forward to hearing your news!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
How are you feeling Bella? Hopefully if your not already holding your little man you will be soon.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
I'm good thanks girls. I am def not having baby today, as dh is oncall tonight and therefore away from home. He could get back, but not without inconvenience. And my videographer is down in Melbourne till tomorrow afternoon. Funnily enough my BH have dropped right off. I have willed them away! I don't want this baby born today or tomorrow. Friday would be nice thank you very much :) thanks for all the positive wishes girls. I will update in here first, or santosha, who is my PIG will do it for me :).

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Thinking of you Bella. You sound in a good place and I'm sure this birth will be wonderful.
Did you labour for your DD1s birth? I'm just wondering if DD2s labour was harder and longer due to being your first labour? I hope this one is an easier length for you xx
Edited to remove a whole part of my post that was edited by mods and I think made it easier to take out of context.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
I had 36 hrs of labour with my first before the c/s, so yeah, I dunno.
Tegam, I can't even reply to your fb message because your privacy settings are so sky high! You might need to fb friend me. I try to go to your profile, and it won't let me see, says "content not available". And I tried to respond to your message and it says "you arnt allowed to chat with this person". Sort it out woman!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Oh meow  i had that too at times with my BB group. I guess as well it is because HB is still not a common choice IYKWIM and so in groups where the vast majority are not HB your journey can get lost in the melee. i had to work hard to find a balance between sharing my happy HB planning stuff and protecting myself from all the hospital speak (as well because of the PTSD and triggers). I guess the best way i found was to support their journey, offer your support and be ok with asking questions. i found that it was cool in that they also got confident enough to ask questions back IYKWIM. i think that for many, when they hear that you are planning a HB they dont really know what that entails. so many in my MG IRL thought you literally didnt plan anything or prepare anything at all...that i would simply call the midwife and pop a baby out on the floor. once they started to realise (through conversation) the level of detail and care taken they got really interested. for example, many dont realise that midwives attend as a norm as part of a team, have sutures, synto, shots, oxygen on them etc. this kind of stuff fascinates those that feel a bit scared about having a baby at home for only the JIC scenario...it opens up the possibility that HB is a valid option with options lol.
Bella: the power of the mind works! DD3 tried to make her entrance 6 weeks early and I was in mega labour land but told her in no more simple words that if she was born now she would have to be born in hospital to an OB that didnt know that you could give birth without the need for internals hahahaha (the OB on duty was fresh of the press and peachy keen with the rubber gloves - he was flummoxed by my repeated 'no' to his offer of internals) and labour stopped a few hours later :)

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Sorry bella! I have my account deactivated most of the time this week, just as the news settles and DH work can't know until after next week. Facebook is too easy at spreading the word. I totally forgot as I messages you!!
Hugs meow. There is no real reason for a bb group when we all have each other. There are three Homebirth mummas in mine :) join ours and go to 42 weeks :)
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Lol, that's ok tegam! I was kinda impressed that you could get them that tight!
And great work Cassius! The mind is amazing isn't it! Yeah I wasn't stressed last night, I just knew I wasn't gonna do it. I think my photographer was slightly stressed tho! Lol! We will see what the next week holds. Despite a crap amount of pain, I feel happy ATM. Which makes me wonder if I am even close. It has been my experience that you need to be "over it" to go into labour :). Anyway, will see.
My birth space is all sorted now. Looks very pretty and clean and calm right now. Last time I didn't put up flags or affirmations at all, so this is something new and nice.
I also did a belly cast with my sister today. That was nice. I love her and whilst she spent years as an experienced doula I am not having her at my birth. I know it is what I need to not have her there, to many sister dynamics going on, but it was nice to do something pregnancy related with her :).
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
This is my 5th pregnancy bella, NOTHING feels that tight lol

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Sounds like you're in a good head space and you have everything ready, Bella. Now just to enjoy the small amount of time you have left with your belly boy. They're a lot easier to manage on the inside! ;)
Still sending beautiful birthing vibes.
Tegam - I've noticed I'm not as tight after three. Can only imagine two more stretching my poor muscles into oblivion.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Its interesting though you know how they always say 'well you would already be 3cm as you have had a baby or two' when I had a speculum exam with dd3 (4th bubs) I was closed! At 36weeks. So I'm obviously holding my own **there** but boy tummy wise there is nothing holding this belly. It's still small thank goodness, not going to be a pretty 2nd half ;)
Got myself a ticker :)
DD1s Having a double digits birthday party tomorrow. A disco with 20 girls.... House is clean and tomorrow we convert the garage into a disco. We have hired disco lights and a helium tank to do 50 balloons. Should be a great day. She got earings for her birthday. 10yrs old, so grown up :)
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
My belly is pretty big this time around! I looked well past 20 weeks at 16 weeks lol
SO excited to finally see a ticker Tegam :) Have a great celebration!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Thinking Of our May ladies. Ladybugs surely bubby wont evacuate in this cold snap??

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Just popping in to see if there was any news from the gorgeous Bella.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
No news from me. I'm just plodding along. I have found a happy place of waiting. I was discussing the head **** of late pregnancy with a gf the other day and how you constantly second guess yourself! and what that then does to your ability to wait with joy and peace. So anyway a few nights ago I went to bed and decided I really didn't want the end of this pregnancy to be like that. I didn't want to be wondering every second of every day if this was gonna be the moment that labour started. I don't really believe in god. You could call me agnostic if anything, but my Mw gave me a picture of a pea**** for my prayer flag, cos it is a symbol of Juno the roman goddess of women and mothers. So anyway I thought I would write a prayer to Juno, to more than anything else, solidify in my thoughts, what I wanted for myself and my baby in the waiting time that is right now. This is what I wrote, cos this is how I should like it to be.
Dear Juno
Grant me peace in my time of waiting
Grant me joy in the serenity of letting go of expectations
Grant me blessing in enjoying the last precious moments, free from an enquiring mind and able to just soak up each last kick and prod from my baby within.
Grant me joy in my labour
May I find pleasure in my work to bring my baby into the world
Grant me peace and serenity in my time of waiting.........
I don't want to rush my babies last hours inside my womb, give me peace please, mother of mothers......
So that is where my head is at now. I do find the odd impatient though comes thru my mind, but generally I am able to let it go pretty quickly and just find something to enjoy in the moment. Coincidentally, my aunty asked me and my brother and sister to come over and choose some keep sakes from my grandmother who passed away four weeks ago. I found a pea**** necklace amongst her things. Serendipity I think, since only the night before I wrote the prayer. So now I just plod along. Dh has his last shift on Friday, so that is good. Just a few days before I hit 41 weeks. By then I will be ready for lots of support and will appreciate all his help, even if it means he doesn't have quite as much time with his baby.
How are you doing ozstar?

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
So beautiful Bella xx glad your in a good head space.
I'm feeling great. MW appt tomorrow and she will be dropping off the pool, I'm so excited :)
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Yay ozstar! I have the pool but haven't gotten dh to set it up yet, which I really want him to do in case of a leak! Lol!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Def get those pools ready! We had two leaks in ours and it took overnight for them to appear. One was so slow we didn't bother to patch it up (couldn't find it) as I figured labour would be faster than the leak. So I was right about that at least...
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
My pool was delivered today :) it's so cool seeing it blown up in my birth space. It's all getting so real now :)
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Yay! That is super cool ozstar! I had a Mw appointment today too. It was nice and chilled. It is the first one since our first one at the start of this pregnancy that has just been her and me, without our student. And I really like our student, it has been fun to have her along and see her learn and gain confidence. But it was nice to just sit with Rach for the arvo and chill out and gossip and chat. It may well be our last appointment before the baby, so who knows. Can only cross my fingers :).
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
How funny Bella today was one of my first without my lovely student too and I really enjoyed just sitting and chatting. It was extra nice because dh was there too.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Oh ladies it is all getting to the exciting bit. So nice to hear you having a relaxing time with your MWs :)
I worked in SCN tonight, the babies weren't that unwell and were able to be on the ward with their mummas most of the time. As I am telling more and more people our news it seems a very common theme for people to ask 'why would you have another' well tonight looking at those brand new squishies, I think my ovaries almost popped! Why? Because I am so blessed to have the family I have, the chance to see my kids welcome another sibling, to see my husband melt over another child. I am so lucky 'why wouldn't you?'
I had my Mw appointment on the way to work. Bug is all good. The Mw said that its one of the next two appointments that she comes to the house and we discuss all the birth stuff! That's at 24 or 28 weeks. I put it off to the 28 week appointment, this is all going SO fast.....
