Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Thinking of all the belly mamas and bubbas soon to come. Xx
Tegam - wow, time sure is flying for you! I've had so many ppl ask if we're going for a fourth, which surprised me. Ran into an acquaintance and her DH at a fancy dress party on Sat night and they're expecting a bonus fifth baby in Sept. It's exciting, not disappointing!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Ahh Jen I am a really bad person to talk to about having more xx I say 'of course you will have a fourth' you deserve that calm water birth you missed this time!!
I mentioned to a friend that I think the average number of kids is growing. I think three is so much more normal now then 10 years ago. She disagreed and looked at the censes, average children only 1.7 or 1.9. I'm shocked. I would have thought with Ivf the rate would be much higher.... And boy to I must pick up the average ;) haha I've always known I was above average at something haha

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
that s lovely, Jen. you must look like you do it well ;) We have only get comments such as 'when is DH getting the snip?', and 'i'm glad you are stopping at 3'.
i think family size depends on your social circle. most of my friends have one or two kids. One has 3, but #2 and #3 were twins.
i so need to write my birth story.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
yes! we need a birth story!! I love reading about eachothers births!
we definitely bucked the trend in our inner city suburb with having a third baby. but in our new town, three seems to be in the norm. and no one bats an eyelid at 4 or 5.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Hot1 come in then lovely! We wanna see your birth story!
I was unable to sleep well last night, and ended up sitting up re-reading the archives of this thread, around the last few months of my last pregnancy. It was lovely to be reminded how so many of us have been in this thread for so long... So many of the names and faces remain unchanged, just extra babies added to the mix.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Yay! Hubby is now on pat leave for a month! Yay for me! I am feeling so exhausted! Trying not to wish this time away, but man! it is a deliberate concentrated effort to stay positive and in the moment right now. Just want this baby to decide to come. He is still really posterior, almost completely direct posterior. I know he will turn in labour tho... Still haven't decided 100% on a name, but I am sure we will get there eventually.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Oh bella, enjoy the extra support know DH is off work :) you are doing so well at being positive. I'm positive I can't wait to hear about your birth and read Hoti birth story :)
Names, um oh do we have to decide on them???? We haven't even had one discussion yet re names..... DH always asked to not start until the third trimester. Well surely I can manage that at least once lol. When is 2nd tri? 27weeks? And here I was satin that my pregnancy was flying...only to realise my ticker is frozen hehe
So names..... Hit me. Our other kids all have very normal, boring, somewhat old fashioned but kind of popular names. Names we have liked I the past but haven't use (say it was the boys name when we had a girl) are
max, Henry, Patrick, annabelle.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
I think 28 weeks is when the 3rd trimester starts. I'm in a state of confusion over names at the moment and I can't see it improving. I'm in love with two names but both have 'issues' and I'm not sure what to do.
Getting so close now Bella and Ozstar! Thinking of you xx
I feel like this pregnancy is going way too fast. We have a gazillion other things going on and I can't get into a good pregnancy and birth head space. I haven't even started pregnancy yoga yet and I always started it way earlier than this before. I'm feeling a little down about it at the moment. I really wanted this birth to be a more spiritual experience and I can't even define what I mean by that because I just have no time to reflect on it. But there is still a few months so fingers crossed I get there.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
So I'm wondering if this little man is not in an ideal position.... Basically what makes me wonder, is that recently I have made a lot more of an effort to lay on my left side in bed. As soon as I do, I think he swings around and comes more lop than op. Also generally as soon as I am laying on my side in the dark (which also might be a clue), I start to get more frequent and way more intense BH. They are uncomfortable and I feel them in my cervix more than just an ordinary tightening. I have been onto spinning babies and looked at the abdo lift, that I have been trying to do when I notice a tightening and I have also just put on some tubi grip around my tummy, to hopefully hold him a bit more into the pelvis.
Any other words of wisdom from you wise ladies?
Not this morning but yesterday morning after I first started doing some abdo lifts(the night before), I got some really thick discharge. Not quite plug, cos it wasn't stained and dark enough, and it wasn't much, but it helped me feel like as if there was some progress. That night I had had some really good BH overnight and it just felt more intense. I will discuss with my mw on Wednesday when she comes to see me.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
If you have a stretchy wrap like a hugabub, you can use that to help hold baby over your pelvis more. I used both tubigrip and a hugabub.
In the last few days of my pregnancy, I also spent some time lying on my left side, belly dancing and holding my bump up and over the pelvis while doing (very unco) squats. i think all these helped bub to get in a good position for her to birth.

I was hoping you would comment hot1! Cos I remembered you had done some stuff to help position baby last time. Cool, I might try some squats with dh's help. I won't do heaps, cos I don't wanna wear myself out. But it might help
Also I think I have been waiting to get stuff done until now. Like this afternoon is my dd's first parent teacher interview. And I put it off from last term so dh and I could both go. So I really want to be there. My house has never been so tidy! I also did the last thing on my list to do before baby arrived, which was to buy a rug for in front on the fire. I want it to be a cosy place. Yesterday I bought a rug! It is the softest thing the world! Omg it is beautiful! Anyway I am ready as from after the interview today, and maybe that is all it needs. But either way, I am telling myself, that i really don't have that much to do with it all. Whether I want to labour right this second or I don't, my body still works and will do its thing when it is ready. I just need to keep waiting. Been hugging my littlest a lot today. I think that must help release lots of oxytocin :)

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
I hope the interview went well Bella. I'm sure you'll be holding your little man soon. Sending you loads of beautiful birthing vibes. I can't wait to see a BA from you.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Hi Everyone,
I haven't been in for a while... but with my HB baby just about to turn one, I thought I would come back and say hi!!! Hope you are all going well. I am ready to write up my birth story and will post it in the next few days.
Special shout out to Bella... I hope your birth goes well, all your words are reminding me of so many thoughts and feelings I was having a year ago. I also wanted to let you know, try not to get too stuck on 'perfect position' For my first 3 births I really felt that was important, they were born super fast and spent lots of time in good low position leading up to birth, but when I birthed DD4, the day I had her she was incredibly high up and when I went into labour she was not moving down, this was a strange sensation for me, but I went with it. Long story short, she was born in her caul with the cord very tight around her neck, so while she wasn't in the text book optimal position, if we had done anything to make her come down faster or try and hold her in position with slings etc, there is no way baby would have come out safe and sound... trust that your little one knows what to do, I was blown away that DD4 being born in her caul slowed the birth down to bring her safely into earth!!
Lots of birthing vibes coming your way. xx

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
Thanks LBF. You know I completely threw the ofp stuff out the window with my last birth. And I haven't done anything with it this time, except till now. I think the waiting is getting to me. Thank you for the reminder to trust my body and baby.... When he is ready, he will come.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
I think labour may have started.... Contractions about 4-8 mins apart. Not to intense just yet. Woke me up, and since I haven't has much sleep, I have put on a pad, and I'm going to go back to sleep and see when they need me. Wish me luck girls :)

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20
