Congrats, hun! Loved the photos and can't wait to hear your story and your little man's name.
Also, bit nervous that my cycle is returning/has returned. I hope I'm wrong, for more than one reason...
Oh gosh Jen...that is soon :( I love the whole not having a cycle thing that comes with pg and post baby lol. When does it normally return for you?
Little man has been named "e d ward wi ll iam s t anley" :).
I will write my birth story out soon, but basically is started when I woke at 2:40. It felt different and I got outta bed and timed some contractions on my phone. I knew it had started, but obviously it was early. I called the Mw at about 4:45, because I started passing fresh blood. Called back and asked them to come at about 5:30? They(Mw and photographer) got there around 6ish? Labour was really without a solid pattern, sometimes 3-4 mins apart sometimes 8 mins apart. When the Mw arrived, shortly after the kids woke up. We had some nice photos of the kids greeting me and I consciously knew labour would slow until everyone settled down. Then I retreated into bedroom. Labour picked up and then it really kicked on, with me dozing in between contractions. I then started to loose control. Back pain was terrible, I felt totally panicked. I could feel baby kicking out the front and freaked out, that he still hadn't turned and I was in for hours and hours of pain. I wanted out and kept hoping someone would save me. In the end, I asked for the water injections. I had those and things settled down for me. I was able to refocus. My doula for the kids wasn't able to make it so we had called my sister, and she really helped me at that point to refocus and calm down. I gave a voluntary push, and felt him move down and then the involuntary pushes started. I had a few contractions with pushes at the end and then I did a ve. It felt like I had another cervical lip. I asked my mw to check me as well. Mw suggested I needed to get onto my back again like I had done for my last birth to allow that to clear so I did(floating in the water). As soon as I did, pushing began in earnest. Dh had come back in with me and I had four solid pushing contractions before he was born. After two I really felt him come down strong into my peri, and told my sister to go get the girls. Then two more and he was born. The second stage was really really quick and despite me asking my Mw to catch, I am really grateful, that she stood back and told me that I could do it and to catch my baby. So I did! My Mw said my labour was typical op labour in that there wasn't a proper pattern, and that if I had have been assessed in a hospital situation, I would have been deemed not in labour, until the last 20mins.
I will write it up properly later, and give more details. :)
Yay for catching your own baby. Nothing beats it!
So awesome, Bella!!
Cassius - not sure after DD1 (had Mirena put in), after DD2 it took 7 mths. But this bub is a really good night sleeper so it is possible that when she started sleeping 10 hrs things kicked off. Better get onto contraception. Bugger!
Or don't Jen :) there is one other way to not get your periods for another year or so ;)
Bella, that photo of little baby blue.... Melted my heart just now. You make a very cute baby! And I'm a nicu nurse I'm a good judge! Love the name, it's on my list :)
Congrats Bella, I've been stalking you on the HB fB group. Just beautiful x
Tegam, I think I have just worked out who you are. Did you just comment on a new post of mine and make reference to five babies? And thank you! He is really cute!
Eenee, you will have to give me a clue, I can't tell who you are! How are you doing atm?
Bella: tried to inbox you but full. I'm Em*** C***** fill in the blanks surname is hot food lol
I'm going ok, life pretty busy. DH working extremely long hours and I'm pretty much doing everything on my own. So with little sleep this has been challenging.
I decided to come off antidepressants too due to lagging side effects. Haven't told anyone though except a few close friends (that includes Tegam). But mood wise I'm going ok. I encapsulated my placenta finally so that replacing them and doing well I think. Now if only babies were born with more than one placenta!
And sorry to those that are now reading this thinking she didn't tell me she was going off the meds. It's becaus I already faced judgement from some people and needed to show people I could do it before saying. I haven't even told my GP or my midwife who I trust heaps yet. I will in time just not yet. Except if on the off chance they are reading this lol then hi But I haven't even told DH yet.
Yelp bella that's me :)
Eenee you are doing so well! But even I didn't know you hadn't told your MW!!
Jen my cycle returned at 6weeks with Dd1... Can't remember the rest but it was later thank goodness!
Ticker frozen again..... This pregnancy is going nowhere fast ;) my husband will be over the moon ;)
Ah no, Tegam, not yet. The cycle itself wouldn't be so bad but I'm very afraid that it may have come with unintended consequences. DD3 is only four months. God help me... I'm second guessing everything but I'm too scared to take a test. It's just all feeling a little too familiar. I hope I'm just being paranoid.
Bella, E is so cute! How are you doing?
Tegam, how long now? I can't see a ticker via the app. ;)
Eenee, I hope the switch off the ADs works for you. Xx
Oh Jen. That would be stressful but not point really stressing, test then figure out how you feel either way! Hugs
I'm 22 weeks eeek! My ticker keeps freezing anyway, not sure what I aapm doing wrong!
Bella, I just saw your other post. My little man fed completely differently to all my girls :) he fed more frequently and was quicker :)

Eeekkk I'm next. I can't wait :)
Oh Jen  it is scary when you get so many symptoms. But TBH i reckon that while you are still intensively BF that there are cycles that mimic really closely a pg. I had to test a few weeks ago as it just didnt feel right and it was doing my head in...but it was negative! all the symptoms were crazily similar etc. I hope that it is just a hormonal adjustment of cycles for you xx
Oz: eeppp! So so excited! sending you many beautiful birth blessings. Not long to go...I am so jealous that you get to have a baby at home lol! I miss it!!
Have you guys seen that episode of 'home delivery'? it is the HB version of OBEM. it was SO AWESOME! of course only one episode was made. which is a real shame as it was just beautiful. i think you can youtube it?!
You really need to test Jen. Then you can put your mind at ease if it isn't pregnancy. If it is.... Well at least you can start to get your head around it..
You are scaring ME Jen. I have followed you the last two times! ;) Hope things are all good.
Cass I watched home delivery a few months back, much better then any other birth show out there.
Jen I think you should test too.
I'd rather live in denial for another week at least. ;) Cassius is right, often bfing hormones can mimic anyway. At the very least I'll be more diligent with contraception. Hoti, it's been nice sharing our journeys - but for both of our sakes I hope this is not one of them!
Ozstar - not long now. Do you feel like you're ready?
Read an awesome birth story online about an almost 44 weeker - 4th baby, all slow cooked and born at 9lb covered in vernix. Just shows babies know when they're ready and when they're not.
Jen i think I read the same birth story, it was fantastic.
I'm almost ready. I'm working on Tuesday (crazy) and dh gets home on Wednesday so come Wednesday night I think I'll be ready. I plan to spend Wednesday in my birth space making sure it's all how I want it :)
my last two born at 41 weeks and 41 +2 were both covered in vernix too. perfectly cooked.
This little boy born at 41+2 was born with no vernix and his skin was peeling at birth. His poor little feet today are like little lizard feet! So scaly!
do you have some moisturising cream for him? poor bubba. i use cetaphil moisturising cream on DS, who gets eczema.
Try coconut oil Bella and breastmilk. All my bubs were peeling. And DS1 was peeling at birth.
I hope you keep feeling well off the meds Eenee. I'm glad you felt ready to 'come out' xx
My baby born at 39+4 had the most insane dry, flaky skin. All peeled off. My 41 weeker had no issues!
We moved house yesterday and it's had such a good effect on my mood. Pretty sure I know where I want the birth pool and I can picture night time parenting in those early weeks in our spare room. Finally started preg yoga today and that felt so good to get started too.
Thinking of you ozstar xx
Have been enjoying your posts and photos on the fb group Bella :)
oh Meow so nice to hear that things are starting to settle for you! And how nice that you are in the house you are going to birth in! Getting exciting.
Ozstar…….always a weird feeling in here when you look at the list and its YOU next! Enjoy the ride xx
Whatever are we going to do to get thru June and July with no births????
Yesterday I gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl 💞 after only 44min of active labour she waited for daddy to get home before making her arrival in the water at home.
Yay Ozstar!!! Sounds perfect :) Congratulations! Enjoy your newborn love.
Congratulations Oz!! She is lovely! Hope you are enjoying your day of new baby cuddles. I bet the big kids are thrilled with their new little girl :)
Congrats Ozstar! 44mins! Amazing!

Congratulations Oz... I had a 50 minute labour and they are fast and furious I hope your afterbirth pains aren't too horrendous! I found wrapping my abdomen and warmth really helped with the after pains if you do have them.
Enjoy your baby bubble
Congratulations Oztar, wow that's quick. Hope you are feeling ok after a quick labour.
Huge congrats Ozstar! Those third babies sure do like to arrive in a hurry. ;)
Wow ozstar so exciting to see your news! It was my third that was
A lightning birth too! So glad daddy made it!
I'm hoping my third is a fast one. I'll be so miserable if it ends up being crazy long!
Can I have a small brag moment? I'll take that as a yes! Lol! One week post partum, I am 1.5kg lighter than what I was when I got pregnant. I am still carrying a lot of excess weight, but that is ok, I am not concerned. I am just proud of the clean eating I did whilst pregnant. I didn't diet, and I am still not dieting, but hubby and I are eating paleo style. He has lost 20kg and I only put on 7.3 kgs during my pregnancy. Anyway, my mw laughed at me and wanted to scold me for getting on the scales so soon! But I am just stoked. I think it helped that my body wasn't desperate to lay down fat stores as I already had reserves. Anyway, there is my little brag. Very happy mummy!
Don't know if I mentioned on here, but we named our little man Ed ward. He is just divine! He is still in the sleepy newborn stage and is so so sweet! I am so smitten. Dh is more smitten this time with his little boy, than he was with the girls. I think it is due to a few factors, including confidence, not being busy with study, a little that it is a son, and a few other things. But yeah it is really cute to see.
We eat pretty much paleo too Bella and it's so healthy and nourishing while being great for weight control! I am generally pretty slim so have put on up to 20kgs in my previous pregnancies. This one we're eating the new diet and I started at my lowest weight ever so I guess I'll gain a lot again. Not concerned though as I know it's part of it all but that is amazing to hear your weight dropped off so fast!
So wonderful to hear your family is all blissed out :)
AFM I had an appointment with my MW on Monday and it went really well. It had been almost 8 weeks between appointments due to her having a holiday and us being busy too so it was SO good to catch up and get back into 'pregnancy zone' because that's been a challenge for me lately. Baby is measuring spot on for 26 weeks and heartbeat was good. My BP was high last time but good today, 98/65 or 70 or something. The kids were being adorable trying to listen to baby and lying down and checking each other's bellies with her fetoscope! LOVE HB appointments at home. She helped me feel baby's head (I'm not great with working out what I'm feeling usually) and it's about the size of a tennis ball. Baby was head down in my pelvis. I've had a lot of pelvis pain and she said it was likely from a significant abdominal separation I didn't realise I have so I've been wearing a belly band and it really helped. Seeing the chiro this morning too.
We chatted about the birth, how I picture it and some stuff like that. Also a bit about reasons for transfer and how that would happen. Have another appointment in 2 weeks to make up for the gap we've had so I'm looking forward to more birth chat. She's bringing a DVD with a birth to share with the kids too- Birth day... anyone seen it? I also asked her for DVD recs for me as I found watching The Business of Being Born and Orgasmic Birth really bonding and helpful for my husband and I in previous pregnancies and she suggested Gloria Lemay's Birth.. anyone seen that one?
