Doing better we still can't hold her and she's heavily sedated but on the improve !
Thinking of you both
I'm glad she's improving
So glad to hear she's improving. Do they know what's wrong with her yet?
They arnt really sure , they think she just didn't adjust her circulation from womb to life properly
She couldn't get blood through her lungs . Then she got herself in a real state of distress
The fact she was in a big hurry to be born didn't help her either !
It's a slow road back as she was so cricitally unwell
Either that or infection but she was in her bag of waters till 3.00 pm & born at 6.30
Will write out her birth story soon
Kellbell. Must have been quiet scary! Sorry you have had to experience any of this. Best thing I've learnt from being a nicu and emergency nurse is that babies get sick quick, but they get well again just as quick :)
Hey tegam, I must have missed a page before when I responded to you about waiting. I really feel for you honey. Cos I think it really really impacts mums ability to cope. I remember santosha was a mess when she went to 38 weeks, and to start I was quite dismissive in an unintentional way, kinda just thinking that since she was only approaching 38 weeks it couldn't possibly be as distressing and difficult as it was for me once I got to 41+ weeks. But you know, it really was. Because that was when she hit the place where she had no expectation that she would still be pregnant. So hugs. I hope you didn't feel in anyway dismissed, and I am holding you in my heart. You can do it. Trust yourself I you are worried about your baby.
Oh and as for me, hubby and I had our pretty much only whoopsie last night. We have only ever had unprotected sex when we are ttc. Other than one other time when I was 6 weeks pp after dd2. Anyway, last night we got a bit carried away. Ds is now four months plus about a week or so. I have previously gotten back my period at five months pp. so I guess I will be doing a pregnancy test in a few weeks to check and make sure. There is one part of my brain that thinks "awesome, another baby possibly". The other part thinks "omg, not two that close together whilst coping with a reflux baby, no way!" Anyway, it was silly of us. We had a couple of glasses of wine and were a tad tipsy, and I was half asleep when it started, so yeah. It will be interesting two weeks, and maybe it will help me decide if I really do want another baby or not.
Oh Kellbell! Congratulations on bringing your precious A.melia earthside! Sounds like an amazing birth journey :heartbeat:
What a shock it must of been to see her go downhill after settling in for cuddles and feeds  I had DD1 struggle to breath about 3 hours PP and go blue. it was confronting and everything happens so fast. I hope that you get time down the track to process it all and talk it through with your midwife
Sending our love and thoughts to Baby A.melia that she makes a speedy recovery and is back in your arms soon xx
Oh kellbell, I just saw her pictures on the Hb fb group. She is divine. Utterly perfect. I a, so sorry she is still struggling so badly. I can't imagine how much you must want her snuggled up against you. I really hope she gets better really soon. Sending you loads of hugs.
Thanks bella, and everyone. Yes I think the biggest thing I had to process was the expectation that it would be here. With 4 little people and a husband on leave we did have so many plans. It's very hard on the kids waiting too. But once the shock of getting here settled the other day my other fears have left me. Not sure how long I'll stay sane/brave/calm for but today I'm ok. Seeing the MW at 2pm and have found an Accupuncture lady that will see me tonight, if I want to start going down that path.
Know you are a little stressed about a Bfp but nice to hear that you and your husband let your hair down a bit and just enjoyed each other. With two big girls and an unsettled baby it's hard to remember that you like one another sometimes.
So true tegam! I can't remember the last time we lost ourselves in each other. It has been a long, long time.
I am so very very honoured and excited to let you all know that Tegam had a baby boy! Born at 12:22pm today at home, weighing 4kgs, Tegam feeling great.
Welcome little man! That makes 3 girls and 2 boys. I bet your big brother is stoked!
Yay!! Congratulations Tegam! Hope everything went well, can't wait to hear all about it! Welcome little man :happyforyou:
SO thrilled and excited your little boy is here Tegam! Congratulations!!!
Congrats Tegam! So awesome, welcome baby boy!
Yaya yaya my baby is here. He is perfect. Huge feed after birth then 6hr sleep now on the boob again. Quick birth but we knew that would happen. DH and I in the bathroom, I was standing! No idea it was going to happen that quick. Was having less than 30sec contraptions that I thought just were not good enough to be doing anything. Then half way through one it changed to a push, his head. Lucky I make an unmistakable noise when pushing and DH pulled downy pants and supported the head. Maybe a minute later the body was out, DH passed him straight to me. then called the kids in to the room, then MW came 45mins later after DH text her to say baby was here :) placenta birthed about 10mins after MW arrived. Gee I love that soothing feeling of that coming out. 4kg, head 36cm, length 37cm. He is my most cooked and biggest baby and longest baby :) he is perfect and still without a name.
Sorry it's short and sweet but I know how much we love to hear the details.
I love Homebirth. Well I guess 2x free births :)
Congratulations Tegam.

Ilithyia - January
Sounds so wonderful Tegam! I can't believe your husband texted the MW. Haha! Here we were on speakerphone and you guys are just all "having a baby here, got it sorted" cool as cucumbers :D
Can we add you to the babies on the way list Freya?
Hope the TWW is going well Bella and you're not feeling stressed! I agree that on the plus side it's so lovely you two could get engrossed in a good romp, especially with the struggles you've been having.
I went a HB lunch with my MWs group practice today. I wont usually be able to go to them as they're on when I have to pick my eldest up from school but my husband is home on paternity leave still and my MW was the one hosting today so I took the opportunity to go. It was so nice to see my MW again. I love her so much and I'm feeling really sad about my upcoming 6 week appointment... the final one :(
Dh text: Hi could u attend. The baby has arrived quickly. Everyone ok :)
Yes Id love to be added to the list!
And OMG you birth goddess you Tegam! I hope I have a quick and easy homebirth like that; even if my chicken DH has to catch lol
Wow tegam, I totally missed this till I saw it on fb. Congratulations mamma. He just wanted to be perfect for you! And looks like he is! Well done mamma! Enjoy your family of seven :)
Congrats Tegam! Sounds like you both did just fine (2014 must be the year of the freebirth lol). Looking forward to hearing his name. Enjoy your babymoon!
Bella - DP and I had a bit of a whoopsie when we were away a week and a half ago. But I think I'm ovulating this week so should be in the clear. We are asking for trouble. :/ Good luck with the TWW.
Kellbell, I've been following little A's progress on FB and I hope you're all home together soon.

Ilithyia - January 2015
Freya - March
I'm due anywhere between 26 Feb to 2 march so march is fine lol bub will come when he is ready.
Oh Jen! The pair of us are begging for trouble, but you especially, given your history of surprise pregnancies! Maybe it is just that we want the list to fatten out? It is gonna be a bit of a dry spell for awhile at this rate.
Ladies can I get your expert mothering opinions please? Ed has been steadily dropping the percentiles. He was born 50th then put on heaps of weight and hit the 75th percentile. I think the reflux has affected his desire to feed well, and he is now down to the 29th. Do you think this is a problem? I don't want to stress, maddie was petite, but she didn't stop weight gain till she was crawling/walking. Eddie I think often stops feeding due to pain. I think it might be improving overall in terms of the reflux since we started him on losec, but I am a little worried. I don't know what they would suggest anyway? He feeds on demand anyway, and he isn't quite ready for solids at only four and a half months. Besides given he seems a bit sensitive to dairy etc, I will have to be careful how I introduce stuff to him. Any words of wisdom?
My advice.... Stop weighing your baby! As long as he looks ok and behaves like his normal then I'd be happy. I never weigh mine :)
That's I guess what worries my Tegam. He doesn't always behave normally. He behaves like a baby in distress a fair chunk of the time. :(
No but that's normal for him. Is he still in oooo size clothes? Does his skin look baggy? He looks perfect in his photos! He is having a rough time but he is coping. I know it's sad and hard but watching the scales won't help. Hugs.
Probably not much help, Bella, but DD3 has gone up from low percentile to well into the 50th (highest any of my babies have ever been) at four months and then dipping down by six mths. I have no idea where she's at now as I've only had her weighed at the GP when it's vax time. But I suspect she's going to be a littlie - she has tiny feet.
I'm really sorry to hear how concerned you are, hun. Let us know how he and you are going. Listen to your instincts.
My issue is I'm not 'done' (although TTing DD2 since Wed and my opinion of my ability to win at parenting toddlers is being questioned!). So while I am not ready, a whoopsie would put the issue to bed. Esp if it wasn't my whoopsie. ;)
I'm not sure what else you can do with a little fully breastfed baby Bella. It sounds like you are worried he's going to be labelled "failure to thrive"?
At this age the only thing I'm not sure if you're doing already is populating his gut flora. I do this by taking good quality probiotics and eating fermented foods everyday. I have started putting a drop of sauerkraut juice into baby's mouth too. I have only done it a couple of times so far but by 4 months I would be doing it daily. Once on solids I would start baby out on the GAPS baby diet as a way of getting nutrient rich foods in along with gut strengthening foods such as bone broth and ferments.
It's funny Jennifer... I feel done! It's amazing and I'm so glad. I was hoping to feel done but was worried I wouldn't. But at the moment I feel content with the pregnancies and birth experiences I've had and happy to reflect on them and not experience it again. As our baby is growing I'm thinking things like "wow, we will never go through that first month with a newborn again". I'm not wishing it away and glad it's over, but I'm also not sad not to do it again. Our family feels perfect and complete and I actually feel done.
Bella - Im going to say stop stressing. And I mean that sincerely! I dont think that your little lad is failure to anything. He is probably just reacting to the reflux and will probably gain and lose in steady streams. Im sure the increase then drop is worrying but he is still well on the charts! Is he wetting regularly? Pooing? Is his colour good? I know he is unsettled but the poor poppet has reflux so I cant imagine that's a walk in the park.
Wilder could probably fall into the failure to everything category. He was born small for dates (2.5kg at 39wks), he was barely in the 3rd percentile then by month 2 had fallen off the charts entirely! I panicked, imagining worse case scenario's. I got all sorts of ridiculous advice from dr's etc. He was happy, healthy and functioning properly though. Just not following the "appropriate" weight gains. I made myself sick over it. Then at month 7 he popped back on the charts with a big sudden gain, then a few months later fell off again lol He now sits barely on the charts at 18mths - 80cm and 9kg - but he eats like a pig lol He is a very small lad, even in bone structure - his head is the only large thing about him - it sits in the 97th percentile :o My husband and I arent big in bone structure; the other boys were fat babies and gained like crazy but two of the 3 are now lean and lanky and one (my smallest baby previously) is ridiculously huge, off the charts the other way for his age! My breastfed baby before Wilde gained on average 250g a week, he was FAT and I mean that in the nicest way; yet Wilde barely managed on average 60-100g a week. Same breastmilk, same boobs but different kid!
I guess what Im trying to say is - by all means seek medical advice if its worrying you but kids are what they are - some are chubs, some arent, some follow all the "rules" and a lot dont. Your treating his reflux so hopefully that will improve steadily and you'll see an improvement in his weight too, but for now he is still well within a normal range for weight and you'll probably see a gain again very soon! If you see a marked loss in output vs input, or he stops feeding entirely, then definitely seek help.
I hope that all came out right!
I am not making complete posts lately so thanks for saying all that Freya... I agree. I only brought up failure to thrive to ask if that is your concern Bella. I don't believe you need to panic either. But I do think there are preventative health measures we can take and I think it's a good idea to do what you can.
Thanks freya, tegam, meow. I will just relax a bit. I think my biggest fear was not worryin enough. And when I say that you will think I am completely bonkers, cos obviously I am worried, but I was more or less worried that I was missing something, and that he isn't gonna reach his potential, because I am not giving him enough and he is having such a hard time having a feed that doesn't hurt. It's silly, but I want a great big chunk of a boy. And watching him struggle to feed, and watching him be in so much pain is heart breaking as well as exhausting, and I was worried I was missing something.
Tegam, he certainly has cute little rolls.
Meow- I have started doing probiotics, but have wanted to learn to do sauerkraut, would apple cider vinegar be of benefit do you think? I have started to take a bit more of that.
Just so tired, it is hard to think properly. He currently has a cold too, so he is sleeping with me upright in bed. I think his tummy has been better for the last few days, so I have my fingers crossed.
Struggling and being in pain must be the hardest thing to watch.
I guess if your apple cider vinegar is raw you will be getting some ferment benefit from it but to be honest, it's not something I know enough about to say whether it would help. I can't see it hurting! Fermented veggies should help though. I find sauerkraut a little fiddly and time consuming with cutting all that cabbage so carrot sticks or radish slices could be a good one for you to do. Super easy just fermented in a jar with salt for a few days- loads of instructions online.
It is so hard to move forward and introduce new ideas and troubleshoot when you're tired. I know it well and I really feel for you.
Bella you are doing a great job. And talking stuff out is great. As meow says its hard to feel rational or make sense when you are so tired and it's someone you love so much.
Afm
I've hit the day three blues (on day 4) crying over everything. Ds2 had a tough night last night. Milk in and first real poo. Has been good today so hoping for a better night. DH goes away for work tomorrow. Back Wednesday night. Scared/sad/tired at the thought, wasn't planning on a 5day old and first time with 5 kids but little man chose to cook that bit longer. Feel bad for DH too. Love my baby boy, how can your heart be so full and happy but your hormones make you cry OVER EVERYTHING?
Oh Tegam honey, you poor thing. Totally normal, and I am pretty sure us amazing women can multitask emotions, like feeling overwhelmed with love and joy and overwhelmed with sad and scared. I can't believe you had 8 kids over for a pool party the next day! You are Wonder Woman. Even wonder women must feel the strain despite doing an amazing job, I know I am, but I am not letting that take away from the fantastic job I am doing. Especially since all my kids are now sick, and eddie can barely feed for the snot... *sigh*. Wouldn't change a thing. This is the life I wanted, dreamed for, worked for love. But it is also hard work too. But the best things in life take hard work. It is ok to take a breather and appreciate that. Xx.
Wise words bella. Thanks. I wouldn't have had the party on day 3-5 :) I knew I'd still be on a high
