Meh. So long as her "individual choices" are profiting the OBs then I guess a woman can do what she likes

I was thinking of you on Friday actually Cassius as I had an appointment with Nicola. I guess your appointments are all finished now? I think I'll be sad when they're all over too

I had a teary to her about my son's support people and how I don't really want them in my birth space- particuarly after the baby is born. I think we've resolved how to make it as good as possible but it's a shame I don't have better options. I feel like we're spending a small fortune on this birth and I want it to be the best it can be. Not long now... baby is 4/5 engaged and I'm exhausted.

Oh meow, sorry but there really is no perfect birth () i dont want anyone to stop trying for one. Its just that we all do as well as we can with what we have and whenever there is more that one person involved then you will have to compromise. I promise you you will have a lovely wonderful birth!

Cass: LOL she'd be well supported to have her 'choice' seeing i bet my house she had a nice planned csection on a friday morning, earning the ob huge $$ and not upsetting his weekend!

Nah- I know. And I'm conscious of not expecting "perfect" but surrendering to the experience. But my aunty canbe very judgemental of people being too 'precious' with newborns and I don't want her in our space while I start babymooning and enjoy the bliss with my family in the way you only can with a HB. I think we'reresolved though. My Hand MWs are ready to boot her out... kindly She can have a peek at the baby while I'm on my high and happy to share the love but cord cutting and MWs leaving has to happen AFTER she's gone so she doesn't expect cuddles with my freshly born babe.

Sounds like a great plan and another reason to have a HB and supportive MWs that know what you want and NEED. Clever idea not cutting the cord! hehe... Oh i cant wait to hear you on that babymoon high!

I guess you're allowed free choice so long as you agree with the doctor.

That sounds like a good plan Meow - hope she doesn't kill you buzz or anything. It's quite soon now...

It'll be all awesome meow i had similar issues with my support person (mum) for DD1. and in the end it was perfect! there was never an opportunity for anyone but myself or DH to hold or cuddle DD2. not even the midwives handled her at any point!! Nic et al will take care of things in a beautiful manner they are so well versed in all that stuff and really sheild mum and bub from the happenings in the rest of the home xx

p.s. i am soooo excited! not long for you now

    hi girls!

meow: hoping this heat is being gentle on you xx and yeah it was a bummer not to meet you! but that's ok, let sleeping kids sleep i reckon lol.

water_lily: i had DD there for the most of it (she went next door just a few minutes before Marta arrived...baby was in a quicker hurry than we thought lol!). i did loads of prep with her by watching some good HB videos on youtube, i also bought the book 'hello baby' by jennie overend. it was nice to do this together as we all got to see how others birthed with their children there (there's a cute one just posted on BB under 'birth montage general discussion'...someone posted it a few days ago...lovely!). i also had my mum down to help out and keep Leila company.
but that said, once i knew that i was in labour i dont know, all the love hormones were on overdrive and because they werent being interferred with by forms, drs and car rides to hospital i was all soppy and lovey and wanting all my special people around. Leila was great! she helped rub my back and helped DH fill the birth pool lol!
the midwives are also fantastic with the kids. i also found that there were times where DD just went off and played as she normally would (i laboured during the day) and would come in for cuddles etc now and then...although reading her a story when contractions were on was a bit funny lol...but she was patient

Marc: i second Meow on that one...watch the movie in the birth pool..ahhh bliss!

I'm still here... think Marcellus will have her baby before this one decides to budge When in December are you due Marc?

We're planning on having our son around during labour in much the same way Cassius had her daughter there. We have my aunty lined up to come over and supervise him whenever he's not with my H and I- read, watch TV, play outside etc. I'm hoping for him to come and go- I can't imagine he'll want to hang around for the entire labour. Hopefully he'll be there for the birth, otherwise at least come and meet baby very soon after. We read Hello Baby and have watched a couple of you tube clips... do you have any saved you could link me to Cassius? Would love to find more good ones.

    Morning ladies,

Just thought I'd update. I've met my midwife and I think I'm in love I can't believe I didn't do this the first time around. I feel so calm and relaxed about the whole thing and I just can't wait til it all happens. We sat and chatted for about 2 hours and no waiting in a waiting room with sick people!! Awesome! So obviously we are definitely going ahead with our homebirth.
(Can you tell I'm a little excited??)

    Meow-Hope you're feeling well
