Ash: oh sweets! this is not cool, not cool at all!

i reckon this new IM will be the one!

that said, i reckon the IM that baulked at the 75 mins was a bit harsh. My IM was an hour and half away when i went into labour and she was attending the birth of another baby...and she was able to do it all! that said, if anything were to stop her we had a backup...argh! it is all so hard!! why can't we have REAL access to birth choices??!!!

Thanks Arcadia, Tegam and Cassius. I know you guys 'get' it. The thought of a hospital birth after two beautiful home births is not an attractive proposition. Just the thought of entering the 'system' is bad enough.

I will call the midwife that has now been suggested to me - I would love to sort this out now, but she is away for 2 weeks. I have my fingers crossed that she is the 'one'.

On a positive note, we had our 20 week scan today - all is well with bubs. We didn't find out the sex. DH wanted to know, but I stuck to my guns. The sonographer told us to look away a couple of times (when she was looking near the genitalia) but my DH looked. I asked him if he saw anything. He reckons it might be a boy. I guess we will find out in about 20 weeks!

Thanks again for your support - I really appreciate it.

Ash, good luck with the midwife. Sounds like it might work out with her being so close. I bet NZ trained midwives struggle in the Australian system.

Ash - thinking of you and really hope this midwife works out for you fingers crossed! So great to hear your scan went well and bubs is healthy

How is everyone else doing? I haven't had much time to check in lately!

I start birth classes on Monday night...midwife appointment Tuesday - down to fortnightly appointments now! I think m/w appointment after the next is birth planning meeting? It's all coming around so fast! Baby has been in LOA position now for about 3 weeks - still super active though - feels like kicking and stretching! I'm feeling good and strong and positive, although starting to feel pretty tired and looking forward to finishing up at work

i have thought of a couple of qu to ask my midwife, but thought i would find out what other people have done too.

did your HB bubs have newborn screening (the heel pr1ck test)? was this done at home, or did you have to go somewhere for it?

did your HB bub have a hearing test done? how did you organise this? where was it done?

Eutra- who are you doing your birth classes with?

My tummy is getting quite sore, i have a tubigrip that i wear most of the time, but i have to get a new one. I think i am also getting a bellywrap.

I ordered a womama birth wrap today, have been looking at them for ages so hope i like it when it arrives lol It's kinda wierd the things i am thinking about this time, quite superficial things (what will i wear? don't take photos near the carpet cos it shows the stains). maybe i will think deeper later, or maybe i am feeling supported and figure the birth side of it will work itself out.

we are having trouble finding names we like. we have a few on our list from last time, but no new ones are jumping out at us. hoping we can get at least 2 boy and 2 girl names and then see which fits baby best.

i have just had a lovely spa and have a clean bedroom with clean sheets so am heading to bed to enjoy them.

    sweet dreams!

Bella, would you mind PM'ing me your MW details by any chance?

Hot... do you have muscle separation? I had it rather bad with Elijah and it scares me that if I have another it's going to be worse than then. I had to tubigrip after the birth to hold my tummy up and in enough otherwise I could barely walk. With the support, I could though but it was really tender. I couldn't use the tubigrip for long though and was worse when I was pg cos it kept rolling up across my back and digging in so bad that it looked like I had enormous welts! What is the womama wrap? Maybe you could PM me a link?

Thanks, and I hope you girls have great HB's!!!
