I didn't do the GD screening this time round but I had the monitor from when I had DS and had GD. I did a few readings and they were fine but I strongly suspect now that I did develop it near the end - DD2 was much bigger than the other two and had a lot of chub around her belly (so fat that the belly got stuck on the way out!).
My midwife carried synto with her and they draw it up prior in case it is needed quickly. I had a bleed about an hour after the birth that soaked through all the pads, my dressing gown and soaked the couch but it stopped quickly and I lost almost no blood during the birth so we decided against the synto because it makes after pains worse. I am sure I would have been jabbed automatically in hospital, classed as emergency.
Jennifer: just check with your GP re the synto. My IM just comes with it. Vit K i think was different as it is not considered standard ITMS.
Ash: we didnt do the GD either. thankfully having a HB means that you are so well looked after and have such a great one on one care that if issues might arise, they are picked up on and treated accordingly. it is something that a hossy system of care just cannot do or offer to women unfortunately.
