I would love a home birth for number 3 but need to convince DH first.

I have had two wonderful births in a public hospital (small one, very pro bf, pro natural) and both natural, no intervention.

First one was posterior labour and 2nd one was shoulder dystocia 10lb 6oz !!!! No complications, needed help coming out, mw's hands lol

Apparently there is the chance of another shoulder dystocia birth if I have had one..... that makes me think would home birth be ok????? Anyone?

Thinking of you, Chocorama and Em! Hoping you've got your babies in your arms soon.

Shanti - I think different areas have different policies on shoulder dystocia. You'd have to check around with the midwives near you and see what they say. There is a slightly increased chance that you'll have another dystocia, but I don't think that necessarily needs to rule out a homebirth for you. Hopefully you can find someone to work with you!

All is well here - I'm feeling great, and Anna is being very easy on us so far. Lots to be thankful for.

Shanti, I'm pretty confident most of the m/ws I know through my home birth group would know how to manage shoulder dystocia and would happily attend someone with your great birthing record. Ask around. I will ask them at our next catch up what they'd usually do.

Hello everyone, been a while since I checked in so popping in to say hi!

Cricket - congratulations! Lovely to read your birth story yesterday.

My birth plans are going well, have had no complications at all, everything spot on for what it should be, even blood pressure which is a surprise lately Not enjoying the rib pain much, and not able to do as much as I used to, so I get so frustrated! Running around after kids, working, cleaning... it just can't all get done and I hate it!

I'm 29 weeks Monday so time has well and truly ticked along, looking into birth pool options and starting to buy more baby clothes. Does anyone know if Amby hammocks are safe for overnight use? We have very limited space and my partner isn't keen on co-sleeping (but I am sure it will happen to some degree ) so there will be either a bassinet or something similar for overnight sleeps. Apart from that, we're not that much more organised, we're not having much luck with spending time looking for names, but from the very few we do have, there is a boys and girls name that I really like. So see how we go - my man wants more to choose from but I don't see much more action happening lol.

Starting to get really tired and really hungry all the time now, got that third trimester thing going and I am fighting it as best I can! I've been eating so healthy and so well, that I don't want to ruin it, and I don't want to be wide awake going to bed so haven't been napping during the day. Makes for a grumpy mummy and partner at times though lol. So maybe I will give in soon. I feel like a starving zombie lol.

Glad everyone is going well, loving all the homebirths going on and being planned - such a great little space of BB over here

Kelly, we've also done the cot as a side car thing and it works perfectly for us. DS is in there for most of the night, an arms reach away (I held his hand through the whole night last night), and comes over to our bed and sleeps in my arms after his 6am feed

I dont know if we'll have room for a cot which is why I was looking at something smaller. It looks like we'll have my partners son back here next year so will be very .... cosy Will do the bassinet if we cant use the Amby overnight.

Hi Kelly, yes, the Amby is fine overnight. Actually, that's the only time it gets used here, because DD2 sleeps on our bed on her tummy during the day. I have the Amby beside the bed, put her down to sleep around 6pm and then bring her into bed with us to feed and sleep during the night. Glad to hear everything is going well as you prepare.

Em and chocorama, how are you both doing?

    And Cricket, how's your babymoon?

Another co-sleeping/short on space option is a bed rail on your side of the bed and baby can sleep there rather than in the middle of the bed if it bothers the other person.

    Waiting impatiently here.
Had MW appointment last night, was kind of an extra cos I was stressing out Bub was a bit quiet. But all is good just waiting. Due on Thursday not that that means much.

Kelly: my DH didn't want to cosleeping with dd either so he slept on a blow up bed for the first few months till he became confident enough to sleep with us.

if you could fit an amby in your room then im pretty sure you could fit a cot? my amby took up quite a bit of space.

    Congratulations Cricket!!
Thanks cricket and jennifer13 for your replies. I would love to hear what that mw says about it, thanks!

I have a question! What do you do if you are in labour middle of the day and the neighbour decides, hey I. Might mow the lawn now! And then you have all of this noise!! ??? It's a good question isn't it?? Lol

Lol Shanti, I'd be thinking that you would be too focussed on your birth to worry about it. Or you could pu headphones on and listen to music to cancel it out. Or get your DH to go out and tell them to stop lol

Or, you then feel free to make as much noise as you want yourself, without worrying that the neighbours might think a murder is happening.

Things are good here - milk is starting to come in. Anna has a fussy time from about 10pm to 2am, but she sleeps a good long chunk after that, which is great, and she is very easy during the day. DH is taking a week off to take care of us, and I love that. He does a great job, and it's strengthened our relationship every time a baby is born. He's a good man.

Shanti - we had no lawn mowing (think the neighbours were away, as it was Jan 3), but we had a plumber arrive at 9am and he needed to fix something in the ensuite. I was onto my second go of early labour and had been up since 3.30am for the second morning in a row (and they were more businesslike cx second day). He arrived just as I went to lay down for a nap!!

I went into DD1's room and napped on her bed until he left, but all that activity did mean things stopped. I sent everyone out for the morning (DD1 went to a friend's for the day) and rested on my own. Full on labour started in the evening after I'd had space and rest. After that, I couldn't have cared who was there, what they were doing, or how much noise they made! I would imagine you're more likely to be disturbed in hospital, particularly by ppl coming into your space? I even found Doppler checks a bit annoying.

At home, they're just background sounds you're used to, I guess? I can't remember any bothering me when things were intense. I welcomed the conversation and laughter from my family, doula and m/w. Kept the atmosphere relaxed.
