    Great letter.

Just a word of warning, you may just get a rote reply from the Minister. They may deem it a subject that requires a proper response from a specific area of the Dept which they will send to the specific area for response, but then again it may not be. If they don't then you'll get a stock standard response.

Also you could be waiting a while for a response, turn around is supposed to be less than a month, but if the correspondence area is busy, it could be a longer wait. I know that I was responding to letters (both specialised responses and stock standard ones) up to 8 weeks after it was received into the office. Yes wheels turn slowly.

I'd also probably send one to your local member of parliament as well, they will probably forward it onto the Minister.

Good on you! I was talking to my SIL who is due to give birth in June recently. She told me that the management of the private hospital where I had my 2 children & she had her first is closing the maternity ward because... wait for it... the management wanted, yes wanted MORE women to have caesarians. But the obs didn't support it & have taken their business to another private hospital thereby forcing the first hospital to close it's maternity ward. Apparently elective c/s make it easier to schedule & cost less in terms of midwife's time attending the birth or something like that. I found that very sad as I had a wonderful experience with my DS at this hospital & the midwives were wonderful and very encouraging of minimal intervention & establishing breastfeeding. I know this is hearsay & there is probably more to it.
