    CM- where did you find this bit of info? i have been googling but cant find it.


    i have been thinking of getting the bar in but no way in hell would i feel comfortable proving my af was around.

    I dunno, not sure it would bother me as such (had plenty of midwives and dr's check my pads post birth due to clotting) so thats not really an issue (but I do understand why it would). I got over that quickly. It just seems a strange request, surely they could do hormone checks or something? Its obviously for legal reasons.

    B - the GP I saw yesterday told me that.
    I was googling too, and I have just been overlooking the info I was given from the RACGP and it doesn't say anything! I am so confused.

    If it was post birth it probably wouldn't bother me but this seems ridiculous. I know I am not pregnant, I would do a HPT if necessary, I just don't feel comfortable with this. And I hate pads.

    I had my implanon put in when dd was 6 weeks. I hadn't had a period yet but assured my doctor that there is no way that I was pregnant as I had a big scar from my epesiodimy and hadn't had sex yet and in any case, I took so long to heal that we didn't have sex until about 12 weeks after I gave birth.

    Yeah, but you can put a tampon in even without a period. I use a tampon after DTD all the time to "clean up"

    Maybe they need to know for sure that there is no PG before they put it in. There must have been enough cases of PG's with implanon inserted for them to try and discover whether when they have occured ie after it's been inserted or before hand.

    A bit icky I agree but I'm over having any shyness about the goings on down there and wouldn't care

    Sounds a bit weird, I had one put in about 6 years ago and taken out 5 yrs ago and no yukky stuff like that.
    I didn't get AF with it in at all but put on heaps of weight.
