I've found that canned tomatoes actually don't have that much salt in them. (depends what you buy I guess) My BLS book says that babies up to 12 months should have no more than 1g of salt ( 0.4g of sodium) every day. That's actually quite a bit once you start looking at food labels. I give DD what we eat and I just cook with salt reduced stock and tins where I can. The rest of the time I figure she's having so little of it that the salt shouldn't be a prob. I also try to make sure that if she has something salty (spag bol etc) one day that I will try to make sure she has no salt the next. Kinda even it out if you know what I mean. I have no idea if I'm doing it right but it seems to be working for us.
