    I think the recommendation is to hold off till they are 2.
    And if a family history of peanut allergy is present, then wait until they are 5.
    At least this is what I've heard.

    I gave Aidyn his first peanut butter just before he turned 2, and he turned out to be allergic, as he broke out in hives within minutes. He must have had prior exposure somewhere/when in order to have a reaction the first time I gave him some peanut butter (even in the womb? who knows). As people don't have an allergic reaction from first exposure of anything, as that is when the body will begin to build up its defense mechanism for subsequent exposures.
