I'll let you know when it happens.

I think most children would wean between 2 and 5 years, if bfing were the norm and the child still had access to Mum for the majority of the time.

I read in my ABA book "Breastfeeding Naturally" today that the average age for babies to wean (on their own accord) is approx 2.5yrs....

So I guess it's safe to assume most babies won't self wean until they are 2yrs of age at least? With the exception to some I guess self weaning earlier than that ? That's my interpretation anyway!

    Thanks guys!
Time is going so fast and I don't want DD to wean any time soon. No chance of that atm anyway, she's still feeding 3 hrly

DS is 23.5 months and still going strong!
We only have morning and night feeds, and one in the middle of the day when I'm not at work.
I'm really starting to get pressure from my family to wean when he turns 2, including from DH.
I honestly don't have a problem with feeding him beyond 2, but everyone else seems to!

I think it really varies... but I think I have heard that the average BFing mother only feeds for about 4 months. Probably has something to do with returning to work. Because I haven't worked while my children are young they all made it to at least 9 months (my first) then 1 year (my second) then by the time I had my 3rd and had joined BB and been educated about WHO recommendations I was still BFing my 3yo (at his request). He lost interest just after his 3rd b'day.
