We had 2x 3 day embies put back we weren't afraid of twinies or more either and that TF resulted in our DD. So just because you put 2 back doesn't always mean that twinies will take.

We chose to put 2 back because of the success rate. It's not much more than TF'ing 1 but a % is still a % and the more % we have the better I thought.

We will be cycling in Dec (if AF arrives before the 5th Dec) and we are putting 2 frosties back again.

My thoughts are still up in the air. We had to do ICSI rather than IVF, and ICSI has a 5.9-8.9% chance of monozygotic twinning. Transferring 2 blasties from ICSI in someone under 35 is about as risky as it gets.

We are hoping to transfer the best blastie, and then perhaps if there is a blast they think is low quality and wouldn't survive the freeze/thaw, putting that one back in as well.

I don't want to freak anyone out unnecessarily, but I found an article of a 37 year old woman who had two ICSI blasties put back in and had QUINS on her first scan (one egg split into triplets, one egg split into twins). And she selectively reduced a triplet and all three trips were lost . It is very very rare though.

Not sure you can really say you have been 'ripped off' Tei. If so, I (and plenty of other women here on BB) would LOVE to be 'ripped off' in the way you have. I pray each and every day that just one of my little embryos will one day stick and give me and my DP the child we so desperately want. Right now, I would pretty much give anything to be in your situation Tei... Not only do you have a baby growing inside you, but you have embryos frozen and you are only 27 years old...you have most of your reproductive life ahead of you. I luv you Tei but I really wish you didn't think yourself 'ripped off' because only one of your embies stuck on your second round of IVF.

i think it is because of my age, we were given such great odds and (completely oppisite to what most people say they experienced) basically promised it would work straight away. false hope. and out of 5 embryos, 1 made it (which does sound good, but at my age the stats were better than that). where as if i was say 37 we would have been told all the bad stats etc..

I know that doesnt change anything, something people it works and some people it doesnt and it sucks and its not fair. and everyone is fighting their own battle...

plus i'm having a fragile, moody day...

We were due on the same day I feel hurt you think you are the one ripped off, when you have a healthy baby and I don't.

Ripped off is women who havemultiple rounds of IVF and nothing to show for it. Stillbirths, late losses, multiple losses . There is nothing to feel ripped off about with a healthy child in your uterus.

You are right too, that everyone is fighting their own battles. I'm having a moody, fragile day too I have just had another bfn and I am really struggling with positivity.
Anyway, I think some FS / clinics really don't provide an accurate assessment of the situation to patients. Some of the things I read that FS have said to BB members about their chance of success shock me. Some clinics (IMO) peddle false hope. I am sorry you feel you weren't given a true sense of how you might fare during your treatment. Setting couples up with false hope is cruel

My final opinion to anyone transfering, is not to be emotionally attached or fantasise about twins, the actual reality of it, is completely different to the actual knowledge of it. I spent an hour in my FS office yesterday crying, and he said it is very common for women who have been to hell and back ttc, often to feel completely overwhelmed by the reality of it. He see's it all the time. Now thats something they don't tell you when your about to transfer.

My mummy taught me well.
And i really know you cant compare experiences cause they are different from one person to the next.
And i do mean the beautiful and strong bit, cause everyone here has walked a path and just like i hope to help them on theirs i hope when i really need it someone will be there to help me.

My FS told me that at a double transfer 'if' I did get pregnant there was a 1/4 chance it would be twins with a double transfer.

Well I did heaps of research and basically, taking into account the risks of a multiple pregnancy, the take home baby rate is equal for 1 and 2 embryos. So, I won't risk it. But it flies against the natural intuition and I hope I don't regret it.

Maruschke - Just replying to your post just after my post lol. We did half IVF and half ICSI. I have no clue what embies were put back last time if they were both IVF or both ICSI or 1 IVF and 1 ICSI who knows.
