I'm so sorry to hear that Miss B. I've been following quietly and hoping for good news for you.

We decided to go with the d&c this time so that we could get testing done and because I was quite scared of how much a natural m/c might hurt (baby measuring 8wks, d&c at 11wks). I was told that, if I started to m/c naturally while waiting for the d&c (4 days), I should go straight to the ER at the hospital where I was booked in for the d&c. I had cramping during the 4 days I waited, even some fairly intense cramping that had me wondering if we'd be heading to the ER, but I didn't start bleeding and had the d&c as scheduled. The testing did show there were chromosomal reasons for the m/c, so I'm glad we had it done.

The first time I had a natural m/c (only 5w4d) and the pain was bad, but only for 4 hours.

Miss B I am so sorry for your loss, and am sending you and DH lots of love and hugs.

When I mc at 8 weeks the first I knew something was wrong was when the bleeding started. I went to my OB and he sent me home and we agreed it if it didn't happen naturally within a week we would discuss a d&c. I left his office with a panadeine forte prescription and half way to the chemist - about ten mins from home, I had immediate and very intense AF like pain. I screamed at DH to drive me straight home. I forced him to drop me off and go and get the drugs!

TMI probably, but I made it to the toilet and I just had an overwhelming urge to push. I bled quite heavily and passed several clots, with one main clot - after that the pain disappeared about 3 hours later. I think I bled on and off like AF for the next 2 days. I took the following day off work and then went back the day after. The pain was bad - but it was over fairly quickly. For me I was more afraid of the unknown.

I think you should do whatever you feel most comfortable with. I am so sorry again for your loss and your pain.

Your family is in my thoughts.

    X

So very sorry for your loss (((hugs)))

My 8week m/c was just like a heavy period and was quite a simple process that my body coped with well.

    Please be gentle on yourself.

    Thanks girls

What a muck up it's been. I've been waiting since yesterday for the call from FS about the scan and he just rang now to say the u/s place never got in touch with him yesterday I asked for a D & C and he said that he does ops on Wednesdays so I just missed out on today, bugger. He said he'll ring Monash and see if they have theatre time on Friday. I really hope so b/c I've been cramping a bit and really don't want to go into a natural m/c. He said that could happen any time now. A bit freaking out now but there's nothing I can do

If anything starts to happen while you wait go to an ER. If there's one at your FS's hospital that would probably be best, but any should be able to help you. At the very least they can help you with the pain.

Thanks ladies, your messages have been so appreciated . It's all over now, just resting up after the d & c this morning. Very sad but glad to be moving on and now allowing myself to grieve.
