Hi girls
This is my first post but I have been seeking inspiration from all your posts for quite some time! So many of you have lifted my spirits at times of great despair and sorrow!! Thank you.
This afternoon I am going in for my first FET. (Last cycle was my first stimulated cycle with a fresh transfer with no success.) I have previously done 6 IUIs also with no success.
We got 10 eggs from the EPU and 8 fertilised which I'm told is a good result. My FS advised to transfer only one freshy as we didn't know how I would respond. They could only freeze six of the remaining as one was fragmented. For the FET today we have decided to go ahead with 2 embryos. On thawing tho, they both went "belly-up" (FS words) and they have thawed another two. I spoke with the scientist this morning and he said that one of them has grown nicely but there hasn't been too much happening with the other. He also told me that one of the six didn't end up making it through freezing. So all in all we have lost 3 of those that were frozen and are putting one back today and have one left in the freezer!
I also had to start the Progesterone pessaries yesterday as I had a very small amount of spotting and my FS said that my lining may be becoming unstable. I was so positive before this news and the news of the 2 embryos going "belly-up" but 10 minutes after the phone call I was a wreck!! I am generally a cheerful, positive person and prior to this journey I would never have thought I could go from happy to distraught in the snap of the fingers....nevermind I always get back up!
I guess my main reason for this post is to find out if losing so many frozen embryos is "normal". We've gone from 6 down to possibly 2 very quickly.
Sorry for the long post - being my first I think I had to get a bit out of the system.
I truly wish each and every one of you the best of luck - no-one deserves to be travelling this journey when clearly so many people find it so easy to start a family.
Cheers
