Yeah, well it's free if you go public, but as I said, you'd have to wait - get yourself down on a waiting lsit right away!
I'm not sure about the cost btw, this is just my understanding. Have a look, someone posted about this recently asking about costs....
:hugs: Im sure your BIL GF had her heart in the right place, but I have to agree - it is a bit early to be thinking surrogacy (I know its hard)
My gyno will be performing a Lap in 6 weeks through the public system.
Basically he told me the wait for my local (public) hossie is a year and a half, yet if I travel a half hr (Blue Mtns) it will only take me 6 weeks. I first seen this gyno last week. I'll be having a D&C, pressurized blue dye test (for the tubes) and they will be having a look around (I have a cyst)
All the wonderful ladies here reassured me it is only minor surgery (which has made me feel better)
I hope a Lap will give you (and I) some more answers on this TTC journey!
Goodluck naenae! i hope you get some answers. Iv just been reading another thread about getting multiple blood tests done for failure to implant, does anyone have an opinion on me getting these done first as there is a endo biopsy rather then me spending all this money for a lap?
I just thought I'd let you know that we were also treated for severe male-factor infertility and it took us 7 transfers before we got our BFP. That probably doesn't make you feel any better, but sometimes it is just a numbers game, unfortunately. My FS was pretty unfazed when I received my fourth BFN. It's always worth looking into other issues so that you know what you're dealing with, but if your Lap comes back clear, it's entirely possible that there's absolutely no reason why you haven't fallen pregnant - just the numbers game.
Thanks again ladies, Persephone my DH and i had this talk but we didnt think the sperm problems came into the embryo quality factor? because the scientist have picked out the best we didnt think that its the reason of it taking so long? i might bring this up to my FD. I remember when we had our first appointment with DR Farag to be be refered to the IVF clinic i said to him " because they don't swim does that mean our baby will have a disability of some kind' he basically just half laughed and said ' no, trust me there is some that swim and its the DNA of the sperm that makes the baby so the swimming factor isn't an issue anyway'. So i hope he is correct, i probably don't have anything wrong with me but i think it will be peace of mind for me and when you have everybody asking if maybe i have issues because 4 havn't worked and offering to be a surrogate for you you do start to doubt your self. Im feeling really low at the moment, another girl at work announced she was pregnant yesterday, im over the moon for her but at the same time i feel like iv been left behind and wonder when it will be my turn, everytime one fails for me someone i know seems to get pregnant. Anyways i guess i will find a way to move on from here. xx
I had 2 laps done through the public system - the first one i waited 2 weeks and the second one I waited 5 months. It just so happened that the Dr who did both my laps turned out to also have a private IVF clinic so after the laps were done we went to see him for our IVF. I think that if you don't mind waiting a bit for the public system then it's worth it. And I actually wrote them a letter (the 5 month wait one) and told them how much pain I was in with my periods and was there any way I could be seen quicker and i got my appointment through the next week.
You'll get there hun, unfortunately it does take some time.
