    Angry Need to Vent

Hi all, I apoligise for the negative thread but need to vent a little. I'm currently on Zoladex and awaiting surgery for Endometriosis which is in about 4 1/2 weeks I'm fairly emotional due to the Zoladex which isn't helping right now but as I will be starting IVF after surgery I have only just found out about the requirements of having to have a police check and child protection check done!! I am outraged. Ok i have nothing to hide but i'm sure the majority felt this way too when they found out but I had no idea. I cannot believe that couples who are unfortunate enough to need assistance to have a baby are being discrimated against... I just can't believe it....

Yeah, it;s rubbish and we went through it too..... Thank one of the minority government parties (family first, I think) for that legislation. If you have always lived in Australia then it is really quick but if you've lived o/seas it can take quite some time.

Yep, it's a real slap in the face! I think it's only Victoria that requires it, or has that changed?

GL with your lap. I had a lap for my endo and then did IVF(#5) 2 months later and that cycle gave us DD. I hope your IVF cycle is as successful.

Hugs it's bad considering that no one else has to tick that box to have children. Totally ridiculous.
I would start the process now as it can take some time.

Stupid.. If that's the case then shouldn't every potential parent (whether going through IVF or not) have to do the same thing!
GL with your procedure and everything to follow!

I'm probably going against convention.... but.... TBH, I didn't mind at all... I'm kinda glad to know that they get them done.... Don't get me wrong, I do think it sucks that 'anyone' can get pregnant, and I can't.... but I prefer to know that children are being 'artificially' being brought into the world into families that don't have a record of child abuse.... not to say that there won't still be crappy parents in the group, but at least there is no prior history of causing terrible pain to innocent children...

just my humble opinion though... i get why people don't like it.... it just never bothered me....

bothers me more that those 'others' can get pregnant so easily...!

I'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks it sucks!! I've sent away for the checks so hopefully by the time i'm ready to start IVF all that will be back and there shouldn't be any hold ups....Thanks everyone for your well wishes too

I actually think that is disgusting and I'm so sorry you have to justify yourself before you can get pregnant.

Yes, when the rule was first introduced there was an absolute outcry (Zoladex or not!). It's ridiculous and waste of time and money for sure. It's a VIC rule only i think.

At least you know now and can get it underway. I know people who have had to postpone cycles because their check had not been completed.
