    Birth Certificate!

I have two girls from my previous relationship, and one with my new husband and a baby on the way. When dd3 was born, I was heartbroken that they did not put her big sisters on the birth certificate. It really upset me for a long time, even though I filled them out on the paper work, because they are not full blood they did not get put on.
All these sad feeling have come up again, as another baby is coming into our family, it just makes me feel so sad. i used to love seeing all my siblings names and ages on my birth certificate, and perhaps I am just being all romantic about it. But it really stings, they are all of my children, they should all be on there.

Has anyone else had these feelings?

That is strange. My hubby has all his siblings on his birth certificate, only half of them are full blood siblings. I completely understand why you would be upset about that.

Oh wow, I've never thought about that. I assumed they listed all children, regardless of the father. That's really going to stir emotions for me if my 3 previous children do not appear on my baking bubbas

I'm surprised aswell... when R was born we had to list all her siblings (DH's children) on the paperwork but then had to tick the box that said we DONT want them on the certifcate. had we not ticked the box they all would have been.
I can understand why you would be upset. maybe check with births, deaths and marriages to see if they will be on your next bubs.

Maybe it depends on the state but Vic is definitely other children of the parents relationship. My brother is my half brother and he never appeared on mine. We didn't know as kids and I only ever had an extract of entry as that doesn't show the other kids on it

In QLD it says "previous children of this relationship" also which meant we couldn't include DD1 I know what you mean, it does suck. They are sisters. It feels odd to think of them in any other way.

    Re: Birth Certificate!

that really sucks. Spock was born in the ACT. their forms had 3 section, one for our previous children, one for mine, one for his.

I was 16 and 21 when my brothers were born and I was a bit upset that I couldn't be on their birth cert.. ExP's child wasn't on my kids certificates either. I do not like it. I think you should have the option for ALL siblings to be listed, not just from the current relationship.

So... In Vic, only the current relationship child is listed... Meaning my 3 other children won't be on his/her certificate??

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I was in baby haze but I remember listing children from this relationship and another section that I listed children from previous relationship, so I thought, great, they will be on there. I certainly don't recall a box to tick to have them on, but I will call and double check. I am in NSW and friends have had the same issue.

I think it would be useful to have the choice, but I guess with all the merging families perhaps it is difficult? Maybe they need a whole new template for today's families where both or one partner brings children into the relationship!

Rosetti, i sounds like they won't be. Perhaps look into it now!

Ladybirdflies, I have emailed Vic BDM, I want to know now. It's really got me feeling down reading your story. It's not fair that youre a mum and past children are just 'forgotten' and dropped off an important document like that

But they're not forgotten. They have their own birth certificates.

    Birth Certificate!

That would be horrible my brother is on mine and he is only a half sibling. We're both on my younger sisters birth certificate. Mind you that was almost 30 years ago.

I wonder why they only include full siblings?

In the ACT, they put siblings from same relationship on the front and siblings from previous on the back, so my youngest has all 6 siblings on the back, 2 under mother and for under father.

I think it should go on them.
