Cost of putting in ****ey seat?

When we bought our car we looked at how much it was to put in extra seats at the back, and it would have cost us around $2500. DH seems to think you would need to get it checked and a new road worthy done, as you'd be increasing the seat capacity.

It is more than a roadworthy - it is a major modification to the seating capacity of the car and as a result will need an engineer for the modification plate.

I wrote some of the compliance policy for this for a different Australian state, but every state uses the Australian Code of Practice for vehicle modifications.

As I've said before - RING the relevant government department and ask to speak to their modifications area - they will tell you what is and isn't required.

Yup if it's major modifications it needs an engineers certificate. We got one recently for my car , cost about $440.
