I would love to have you as a neighbour. Go for it! You may find a new friend!
    Aw shucks! Thanks!

They seem to be a young couple and when I said hello from my driveway I got a wave and an enthusiastic 'hello'! Some new friends would be just lovely.

I like your timing suggestion too

we've been here a month and all we've had is a 'hi there' from the old lady next door! lol

there isnt much movement in the street, so we haven't had much opportunity. id love it if someone came over to introduce themselves! how thoughtful!

We had new neighbours move in just before Christmas too. We waved to them the other day (first time we had actually seen them), and they didn't even bother waving back. So I guess they don't wish to the be friendly type

That's a bit sad. How hard is it to wave, honestly!

Quite a few bottles of red wine helped us bond with our neighbours

We had a neighbour once bring us a thermos of coffee and freshly baked scones at morning tea time when we were moving in (plus cold drinks for us kids). It was a welcome break. We actually had that happen several times (Army communities).

Now that I'm an adult, I've moved 3 times with DH and never once had a neighbour introduce themselves to us. When we've waved, we've not had a wave back. Society doesn't seem to be as friendly these days.
