We had a neighbour once bring us a thermos of coffee and freshly baked scones at morning tea time when we were moving in (plus cold drinks for us kids). It was a welcome break. We actually had that happen several times (Army communities).

Now that I'm an adult, I've moved 3 times with DH and never once had a neighbour introduce themselves to us. When we've waved, we've not had a wave back. Society doesn't seem to be as friendly these days.
