Unwritten rules that MUST be obeyed?

Tonight, we went bowling for a friend's birthday. No big deal, we were having fun. Until THEY came. Two women, about six kids... They'd only paid for two people, but all were throwing balls down the lane they had. Annoying in itself, but then they started wandering in front of us as we started to bowl. They used our balls instead of getting their own. One of the kids grabbed my ball from right in front of me and rolled it veeeeery sloooowly down their lane, until it came to a stop and got stuck in the gutter. Only one of the women and the oldest boy had proper bowling shoes on. I could go on about returning they did that annoyed/infuriated me, but it would take all night.

Anyway, thinking back on it, where are the actual rules they were breaking. You technically are allowed to grab another players ball (*giggle*), it's just seen as rude to do so. But I was getting so angry about it! Now I realise I might've been a bit silly, but they really should've known!

So, what unwritten rules have to be obeyed around you? Have you been in a situation where there are "rules" you thought everyone knew but found they didn't?
