I didn't actually ask for reasons - I asked if people would be offended if some one did it to a gift they gave. Just because there have been some creative answers doesn't mean they will be used

Well then... I wouldn't be offended. I might be a bit worried that I had crappy taste or something! but I would overall just be happy that they were being used in whatever way. Especially if you emphasised how much you like the frames themselves.
