there are 2 holiday parks there that are good, treasure island and ashmore palms, they both have cabins (from basic or with full facilities - kitchen, laundry etc), several pools, playground. the thing i like about them is they are ideal with small children, high rise buildings make me nervous while the kids are small
We have been to the Paradise one and I thought it was a bit 80's gold coast and a bit run down. We have stayed in a nice apartment at Labrador. It was right across from a park and had a pool. It wasn't a resort as such though just an apartment block but nice and not so expensive. I could look it up if you are interested in that kind of thing.
Your a legend Keryalyss, have to giggle though as I'm always picking on dh saying that he loves the 80's lol Normally I would be interested in a cheaper place like what you have mentioned but for this trip we will be pretty much staying in the resort the entire time as I can't walk around. So we will basically be going from our room to the pool to the play areas etc and dh will play with ds on all the stuff while I watch (and probably eat) hahaha. We are not getting out over the 6 week period so thought we could at least get ds away and wear him out each day while on a holiday I've had another look at the Paradise place and think I will see if that will work for us. We recently stayed at the Chevron Towers also and it was great - However the indoor pool is being renovated and we had a few chilly Days (Oct) and the outdoor pool is COLD. The apartments are nice, clean etc and its very close to amenities - eg there is a Coles / Chemist / Liquorland downstairs with other assorted shops, we enjoyed our stay
However the last two times we went, we stayed at the Crown Towers, just down the road - the only reason we didn't stay there this time is because it was booked out. The Crown is much more spacious (the apartments are bigger and better set out), the whole place is more quiet and has a separate kids/toddlers pool and playground as well as a large sandy bottom main pool, and it has the best Thai restaurant in the world within the complex - Changmai Thai!! Oh, and they have a beauty spa on site - highly recommend them, DH and I had divine couples massages - bliss!!
While the Chevron is slightly better location wise, IMO the Crown is more family friendly and relaxing. Next time we go we'll be making sure we book in time to get the Crown, though having said that I have no problem with staying at the Chevron again
