We fill a garbage bag nearly every single day. I have no idea why it gets so full so quickly, must be having 3 little ones or something....... but yeah - most of it is wasted food unfortunately.
Oh and our collection is only fortnightly which we hate because ours is overflowing by halfway through the second week.
Nothing like a cuddle from DD after a hard day's work!

Our council bins for the garbage is mega small. The one for recycling and garden waste is the big bins, so we have no choice but to reduce waste if we want our house to not smell of rotting garbage that doesnt fit in the bin!
But i must admit, i throw alot of food away which i bought too much of and it has gone off ... i really need to rethink how to reduce waste this way.
We have a little garbage bin and a big recycling bin. We average about 1 large bin bag, from the kitchen, a couple of plastic bags of rubbish from DD's room (wipes & nappy liners, have to empty it at least twice a week or it starts getting stinky!) and maybe one plastic bag from the bathroom. That generally fills the bin, but doesn't overflow. Our recycling bin is usually full when it gets emptied fortnightly. I try and sort as much as I can, but often DF doesn't care and just puts rubbish wherever..annoys me to no end!
ETA: I'd really like to start a compost heap...I throw out a fair bit of food, between scraps (stuff that can't go to the dog), food that DD throws on the floor or doesn't eat and food that just gets wasted...I think that would cut down our rubbish a bit.
We also fill the better part of a bag of rubbish a day. So by the end of the week our (large) wheelie bin is full. But we don't have recycling out here in the sticks! If we did, it would be half as full I would think! I also need to get a compost heap happening. That will reduce our watse even more. Plus I'd like to start using cloth nappies, though that's a matter of funds....we're not exactly abundant in cash at the mo! We have only moved here recently though (about 7 weeks ago)...it will all happen, one day!!
We don't have a lot maybe one to 2 bags a week. Our recycling bin is always full and we have a compost bin for our food scraps which dh puts on our little veggie garden. I try to avoid over packaged things in general. Its so much waste!! Even if packaging can be recycled it still needs energy for it to be made and disposed of.
At work I'm forever pulling cans and recyclables out of the ordinary waste.
Did you see on the 7pm project the waste pile that is the size of NT floating in the Pacific Ocean!!! Its terrible!!!
We have a big wheelie bin with a divider down the middle, half is for recycling and half is for garbage. The garbage side is usually 1/3 to 1/2 full, the recycling side is usually jammed full. Our council is talking to switching over to smaller bins for garbage, then having the whole large wheelie (divider removed) for fortnightly recycling. This is how we had it in the ACT and it worked quite well. We also have green waste bin but you're not supposed to put kitchen waste in it at all, it's just to keep garden waste seperated, it has a ventilation insert and is collected once a month only. We keep a compost bin and also feed scraps to our little doggy.
We currently don't have recycling at all and usually have a full bin (though that's with a recent move).
Prior we half filled our regular bin (that was a big sulo) and maxxed out the recycling. When we lived in Sydney, what feels like many moons ago, we enquired about getting a small regular bin and the council said fine, but we'll up your rates for your effort!!
I am fairly conscious of packaging and we use cloth nappies as well, so I'm hoping our consumption goes down...would dearly love a worm farm, but DH refuses to have one! He is also another who couldn't care less what goes in what bin, so for him the current situation is great
I was talking about this with DH actually tonight while cooking dinner!! It seems we fill up our 'regular waste' bin VERY quickly by the end of the week and it's almost always full by say day 5!! I feel so bad and I wonder how bad it would be if we did disposable nappies full time too!!! Thankfully we only use them at night.
It doesn't help that the bins are almost half the size of the other bins (recycling & green waste).....
We generally have about 2 shopping bags of rubbish a week (we mostly use re-useable shopping bags but for the times we forget we save them and use those for our rubbish). We only have a small bin and that barely fills it about a 1/4 full. We generally only put the bin out every fortnight in the hope that if everyone did the same we could save petrol on the number of trucks driving around collecting.
We have a huge recycling bin that is collected fortnightly but we used to only put it out monthly till we joined an organic veggie co-op so we get a cardboard box every week and that fills the bin up.
We have a regular sized green bin and that is collected fortnightly. When we're good with weeding that is full all the time.
We also compost, use cloth nappies, avoid excessive packaging.
What irritates me is that our rates are going to go up to include the new federal landfill levy for all this rubbish being collected and I know we're not the ones with all that rubbish- we would only fill our bin every month!

I seriously think that the council need to collect the recycling once a week same as the normal bin. I try and hang onto the recycling when the green bin is full but I just piles up so much that end up putting some of it in the regular bin which I absolutely hate.
It varies - the week DH is home there is slightly more, the week he is away there is sweet FA lol
Usually I put the bin out every third week, it is a full sized wheelie bin, and the recycling is collected every fortnight, which it is always out for.
The bon gets a bout a quater full every week, but goes out usually every third depending on the smell lol
We have a compost bin though, so almost all the scraps go in that, but the meat scraps go in the rubbish.
Our recycling bin, 240litre is full every fortnight and I often have left overs to go in the next week, still getting rid of boxes from moving last year
Our rubbish bin, is only a 140lite bin, and we rarely fill it, and I missed last weeks bins and this week it was full, but it was two weeks worth and I have been doing some sorting out.
Cloth Nappies have made a massive difference to our bin use, we only use I dippy a day as we haven't found a night nappy that will last DD yet but it still makes a huge difference
We need to buy a compost bin as that will cut our rubiish down even further.
We may be able to recycle more but there are a few thigns I am not certain about and they end up in the normal rubbish
Our rubbish bin is normal 3/4 to full (would probably be a lot less without the nappies) Our recycling is generally around the same 3/4 - full. However the people next door (3 adults & 2 kids) Always have their bins overflowing & they dont bag up gabage & it ends up blown onto our front yard. They also have another garbage bin & 2 recycle bins (go no idea where they got them from, probably stolen, knowing what they are like) overflowing in their garage that they never put out.
