    VLine Trains and Prams/Newborns

So I'd like to take five week old DD2 to Melbourne on a VLine train. I know I can put her pram (she's too small to go in a Baby Bjorn yet) in the luggage rack but what do I do with her while I'm folding it up? I guess I could give her to a fellow passenger? What do other people do?

There is usually a conductor on the VLine train and the station staff are able to communicate with them to help disabled or elderly passengers. I wonder if they can do the same for a mother and baby?

I'm sure though you will be able to find a traveller willing to help you by having a quick cuddle while you fold the pram

I've yet to travel on a train with my pram but I'd probably leave DS in it. Is it a long ride to Melbourne?
Have noticed alot of people use the first carriage when they have prams though, close to the conducter maybe.

I just lie bub on the seat for a tick while folding the pram. Obviously I do it very quickly and while standing right next to the seat!!

If you go at an off peak time train will not be too busy and you can leave pram set up. My best friend did this with 2 kids in a pram, never folded it up.

You could also get yourself a sling.
That way you also wont have to physically hold on to her the length of the train trip, and she will be warm and comfy.

I only just saw this thread. I was going to suggest leaving her in the pram for the trip, and taking a seat where you could still have the pram with you.

should have come in and updated - whoopsy.

So it was easy peasy. There's a special section with fold down chairs, so you sit in one chair and put your pram next to you. To make sure you get in the right door so you don't have to try to wheel your pram down the aisle you just look for the door with a disabled sticker and then the special bit will be just inside. You could if you wanted to just leave your pram in that bit then take your baby and sit down in a normal seat.
