Iui or ivf with poor egg quality?

Hi i am just curious to find out peoples success with iui and ivf using icsi.
We have had one cycle of icsi which ended up in m/c at 5 1/2 weeks.
I am now about to start an eastrogen priming cycle and going thru ivf again.
We are using donor sperm and my egg quality is not the best (i am on DHEA to try to improve this). I am just wondering which way to go from here whether iui or ivf is the best shot??
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi blossoms, just wanted to wish you luck I can't help unfortunately as I pretty much only did ivf, the odds may be better with ivf as you know you are transferring a good embie, but you have the extra cost, I hope either way you get your sticky babe next time round xx

    Hi Blossom

I think its completely up to you.

I have had 2 DD after IUI's (DD1 was 3rd cycle, DD2 was 1st cycle). But have yet to have any luck on ivf/icsi cycles (3 so far this year + 2 IUI's this year). I found the IUI's to be far less invasive, alot less stressful and less expensive. On the other hand there are a lot of unknown factors with IUI. With IVF if everything goes well you know that at least the embryos have made it to be transferred (like baby dreamtime said).

I think you just have to do what's best for you and hubby and what you feel you can cope with.

    Best of luck

if you have known poor egg quality i would lean towards ICSI to get the best quality embryos. yes, it's more invasive, and more exxy, but in all honesty, it is probably more likely to have success.

with IUI you're hoping you get a quality egg, you're hoping the sperm meet the egg, you're hoping for fertilisation and implantation. at least with ICSI you know that you are putting back the embryos with the best chance of success

we went through seven IUI's and three IVF transfers before getting DD (we only did IUI again as we live regional and i couldn't NOT do anything while waiting for the clinic to be local again) - the unknown with IUI is much harder to cope with, kwim?

I'd lead toward IVF for the same reasons as BG.
    Good luck!
