Wishing you all the best Emma! I know its hard but try to stay positive. They are the kind of odds I've had in the past. Definitely hard though, you put so much into this journey & our bodies don't seem to want to play the game. Thinking of you & hoping it all goes well xxx

Sorry girls I haven't been keeping up with this thread but I just wanted to say Emma I got 1 good from 10 tested and was quoted an implantation rate of 70% with a normal embryo, he stuck and is now nearly 4 months old, it's a lot of pressure on you but I'll be thinking of you.

    Stalking you joe

    Hi everyone else

Emma - sorry to hear there was only the one. I don't blame you for feeling disappointed - especially with your age you should have more! I truly hope it's the one for you. As long as you don't have any implantation issues it should work!

Penny - when's beta? Still BFP on POAS?

They biopsied 11 embryos yesterday - transfer hopefully tomorrow as long as we have more than 3 that are 'normal'. Because of my immune issues we aren't sure we should go ahead with transfer without the LIT treatment as we have 50:50 chance it will be a matching embryo & my body will reject it. We will see.

    Thanks everyone
I'm feeling a little better today, I realised that had we not done the testing, I would have been t/fering these embryos that never would have stuck....
Whilst I'm sad about 10k ++ for 1 embryo, imagine the money I would have spent on FET's.

Re: IVF with PGD # 11

That's certainly true & why we do the CGH - we get quite a few blasts but have low % of normals so it saves time & money. However, Emma I'm a little concerned as to why you only got 1 that was normal. Surely with your age you would expect more to be normal, unless you or DH have a translocation etc Does your FS have any ideas as to why you only got the one?

Results in for us tomorrow - and deciding then if we will transfer. If we get 40% again then we should have 4 or 5 normals. But as we all know too well there are no guarantees and can't get our hopes up!

Re: IVF with PGD # 11

FS said that the embryos all had different problems, and that they are 'one' off issues.
I was really upset (crying etc) so not sure if I got all the info.
Apparently I get something in the mail, telling me all about it.

    Best of luck Elarwood!

Emma, As far as I know, they expect about half of the embryos to have problems so that's really disappointing you had so many abnormals! But it only takes the one - getting the one gives you an excellent shot! Happy 2ww!

AFM - 5 out of 11 were normal! We are ecstatic again. I've always felt its not our embryo quality. Transferred one 6AB. Wish I didn't have immune problems! Knowing we have half of the 70% chance of it working is nerve wrecking. However, we are so glad to have 4 others to work with for the immune treatment. I am praying we won't have to go that far. 2ww! argh!

Re: IVF with PGD # 11

Just popping in to add we were told to expect around 60-70% abnormals. I imagine FS's quote differing percentages depending on the couples individual issues. We were in the unexplained category but had already had 2 miscarriages, a chemical & 7 bfn's by the time we got to pgd, so this history might've lowered the expected amount of normals for us. I was 34 (not that old for Ivf...) when I did PGD & out of 7 biopsied, 2 were normal. Personally I was very happy with this result & it fell within the expected 30-40%.
Age plays a big part, but other factors such as sperm health & quality of sample on the day play an important part too. Not to mention luck. : )

Emma - I hope your one precious little embryo is snuggled in nice & tight. Xx

Elarwood - Congrats on your 5 normals, an amazing result. : )

They are awesome results elarwood! All the best for your tww xx

Epu booked for Monday morning. Thinking it has all caught up with me now. Feeling very flat & woke up crying my eyes out this morning. Had a dream that for the epu they wouldn't put me under & all I could see was my belly expanding with air like a massive balloon & then they found no eggs. Hopefully not an omen for things to come! Literally putting all my eggs in the one basket for this one last try. All this after being told that the head specialist is going to be doing my procedure. Hopefully just over thinking it all. Trying to take it easy too!

First time ivf and doing ICSI and pgd. Been stimming for 13 days and I'm a mess emotionally! Don't feel like I can get support from anyone for this process because I'm not infertile but choosing to do ivf with pgd to reduce chances of a medical condition.

So hard going through this alone and stressing so much! Looks like I only have 8 follicles growing. Anybody else go successfully through pgd for gender selection with so few follicles? Hoping egg collection is next week because my tummy needs a break from being a pin cushion!!

Welcome waitingforthird ivf is definitely a very isolating experience but hopefully you will get the support you need here. Feel free to ask as many Q's as you need as we all know what you are going through

My background. We are doing pgd for a known medical condition however its not gender specific but has a 50/50 chance of being affected. My scans have showed 8-10 follies also. We were very lucky on our first cycle to have our DD who is now 5.5yo. Trying for #2 however has not been as easy very emotionally & physically draining.

Hoping you get to egg collection early next week, those needles do become second nature after a while though

    Just triggered...here goes nothing!!!

    IVF with PGD # 11

Thanks Joe for your support! I'm getting so nervous and not feeling confident reading in all these forums. I thought my chances of this working were better than it seems they actually are. Trying to stay positive but it's so hard when you know it's a numbers game and starting at 8 follicles doesn't sound great to me!

Wishing you all the very best luck...keep me posted!!

Waitingforathird welcome I had my little boy nearly 4 months ago after having 5 miscarriages between my last child and this bubba, I only got 1 normal embryo out of 14 tested (over 3 pgd cycles).

Joe: fingers crossed for you tomorrow, I hope epu goes well

Glad you had success Minnie but gosh the thought of having to go through 3 cycles scares me. Plus it's so much money! How many cycles of ivf do Medicare give you rebate for? Wish they would cover pgd

Re: IVF with PGD # 11

I don't think there is a limit of cycles for Medicare, the first cycle puts you over the Medicare limit for the year so every cycle after that you get more back than the first (until the end of the year). Would be good if pgd was covered because I believe it saves a lot of money on FET's.

Don't my disheartened, my results were particularly bad, I'm 40 now too which didn't help

Oh so glad Medicare doesn't have a limit! Not sure why I thought they did. I know I have age on my side but really thought having 2 kids naturally and being only 31 that I would have more follicles than 8! Ok I'm going to choose to start ignoring that number and stay positive and focus on only needing one correct female embryo and that definitely could be in that 8...fingers crossed!!!

Joe - wishing you all the best for EPU tomorrow - lots of healthy eggs!! Have everything crossed for you. What a terrible dream! I'm sure everything will go well.

Welcome waitingforthird- IVF for the first time is a very daunting experience but the forums are fantastic for support. Hopefully you will only have to do the one cycle - being 31 does help & the fact you've had 2 natural births but with the genetic testing its a numbers game.

I was lucky enough to get DD on my very first cycle/transfer 3 years ago but since then have done 6 Egg pick up cycles & 3 frozen cycles. I am also 31 & started TTC at 28. Like Joe, never knew it would take this long for us either. But the end result will be worth it & you somehow find the strength to keep going. I've also had 3 miscarriages & an ectopic but these were to do with immune issues that we just found out about. Perhaps if that wasn't our issue it may have worked cycles ago.

To be honest it is an emotional draining roller coaster ride & I truly hope it's a short one for you. All the best for lots of eggs on pick up & a pgd result you're after. You never know, could be beginners luck!

Re: IVF with PGD # 11

Well 14 days of stimming and find out today they are cancelling cycle. So disappointed. But glad they recognised that for me with pgd for gender selection 2 mature follicles (not 8 like I originally thought!!) was just not enough. So cancelling and next round increasing gonal f (was only on 150 this round).
