Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Not too long now for your transfer snazzy! Hope you are travelling well xx
So good to hear from you elarwood with such good news too! Hope your 12 week scan goes well. You have a little fighter in there :)
Yes I have seen my FS. Of course can't give any promises but he did say that he was very happy that we got 3 blasties to test last time so all is not lost. He brought up donor eggs (doesn't take away the pgd issue would just give us more eggs to play with) & donor sperm (DP has always said didn't want kids that weren't biologically his). FS said there were a few more things that we could try (different kind of fsh (initially gives a big boost to get things kicking along - can't remember the name - in the hope this will increase egg numbers) & using melatonin) but ultimately the decision to try again was completely up to us. Had to check how long we would have to wait for a pgd date as I was not willing to wait over 6 months just to try again. They said their latest pgd date was end of May & when we checked again they said mid June. Of course DP is away for work for most of June :( so it was looking to be more like July. Needless to say as long as my FS has hope, I am willing to give it 1 more go & then it will be completely over & out on this rollercoaster baby making ride. So in getting dates organised we managed to get epu booked for June 2 which is only days before DP is due to go away for 3-4 weeks. This would also mean if all my stars align favourably for me, transfer would be on my DD's 6th birthday! She so wants to be a big sister so this would be the ultimate birthday present for her. So first bloods tomorrow to check that I O'd this month & the joys of synarel start. So a busy 6 weeks or so ahead. Trying not to let it all get too much for me & to let my mind think too far down the line. Keeping things in perspective, what will be will be.
In other news I ran my first 10K race this past week & finally ran a sub 30 minute 5K run as well. Running has kept me sane these last couple of months :)
Hi to everyone, hope you are all doing well xxx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi everyone, thanks for the well wishes!
I have had a six week and a follow up 8 week scan and things seem to be going well so far, except the bone crushing tiredness, some nausea and now a hideous virus that has forced me to miss work all week. I was going to have the flu shot a few weeks ago but my FS asked me to wait till 10 weeks.
I am still in more than a little disbelief. Everyone said it only takes one, but after so many disappointments I kind of discounted that. I have never been so happy to be wrong! DP is still very cautious and is worried things might yet go astray, but it gives us both hope since we have never been this far before. So I'm 9 weeks now and see the OB in 1 1/2 weeks.
As for the testing, their paper work really freaked me out, so I spent ages on the net and found that you can do a blood test that is 99% accurate (Panorama). Unless my OB convinces me otherwise, I think I will go with that since it is not invasive and carries no risk. After everything that we have invested to get this far I don't care that its not covered by medicare etc. The only thing it doesn't seem to cover is spina bifida, but neither does CVS.
Elarwood, glad to hear things is the maternal21 test a CVS or amnio, I'm not familiar with that one?
Snazzy, 2/6 is a fantastic result! All the best with your transfer.
Joe, it is great that you have found something to help keep you sane with everything you have going on. I think a rollercoaster is a very accurate description! The waiting times for PGD are cruel, I had a 3 month wait, glad you have managed to sort something out.

Hi!
Hi everyone!
I hope you are all doing well! Great news for some of you I see! :-) good luck for the rest of you still cycling. Just thought I would pop in to say hi and let you know that I delivered my beautiful little (very little-4 pound) bub 3 weeks ago. She is doing well and got to come home with me despite being so small... still not sure why she was so small ?IUGR. Just glad she got here safely. Wishing you all the very best on your own journeys. Xx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
A huge congrats Munchkin! What wonderful news :) Savour every little moment xxx
Still fighting strong ShellyBelly! Awesome news that everything is still going so well. Hope your next scan goes well xx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Jumping back in here:
Just got back from FS.
Jumping back into another PGD cycle.
This one is a little different from last time- elenova (sp?), instead of synarel and gonal-f/puregon.
Going to also do a pipelle biopsy in the cycle before EC/transfer.
So, starting the pill on CD5.
This will definitely be our final shot.
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
good luck emma, wishing you all the best. I did one cycle with elonva, worked quite well & I ended up with 11 collected. fingers crossed you get a good number to work with. xx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi ladies - just popping in to say hi.
Congrats munchkin on the birth on your little girl. Hope it's all going well xx
Joe - you would have started your long down cycle by now. Did FS mention human growth hormone? I honestly think it helped me get stronger eggs along with new immune treatment. Good luck with your current cycle - I hope you get nice eggs! You certainly deserve it.
Hope you are still traveling well Shelley - how many weeks are you now?
AFM - I'm 17 weeks - all going well. Still in disbelief that I'm pregnant after all this time but certainly enjoying every day.

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi Ladies,
How is everyone?
I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. Had a bit of a scare this week (had a little bleed) and despite myself I completely freaked out, started crying uncontrollably (at work so now everyone there knows). I had been pretty relaxed about the pregnancy till this, made me realise how much it means to me. I can't imagine how it has been for you Elarwood.
Got to the OB and he said it was fine, just the transition between 1st and 2nd trimesters and resultant changes in hormones and I had not long finished the crinone. Then he says he thinks I have hemochromatosis because my ferritin is over 500, so I'm waiting for those results now.
Also waiting for the Harmony blood test results. 12 week ultrasound next week. DP and I are crossing everything for luck.
Best wishes to you all, SB

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
So glad to hear all is going well Shellybelly! Hope your tests come back clear.
So here goes nothing! Start injections tomorrow. Absolutely sh## scared about this cycle. Last chance in this baby game. Have not had a great week leading up to this. Have been sick all last week. Only a stupid head cold but have had to dose up on panadol/nurofen for the massive head pains & even took a couple of days off work which is not like me at all. Dr said I needn't worry. Have had no energy to even head out for a walk either. Just want this so badly & just need my body to co-operate.
Have been on DHEA again & have this time thrown in melatonin (makes for great sleep :)). Will start Gonal F & luveris from tomorrow. My fridge looks like a pharmacy! Lucky I'm not scared of needles too :)
Wish me luck!!!
Hi to everyone, hope you are all going well xxx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Wishing you all the very best for your cycle Joe - you deserve a BFP with this one. I have everything crossed for healthy eggs. I love melatonin too! I used all those in my successful cycle & human growth hormone which I swear all helped. Will be thinking of you xx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Thanks andie & elarwood! First scan tomorrow...absolutely packing myself. Feeling really full in the belly so hoping that is a good sign & there are plenty of follies doing their thing!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Best of luck at your scan tomorrow Joe! Keeping everything crossed for you also.
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
First scan Wed...good news! 6 good sized follies & tracking nicely.
2nd scan today...not so good news! Only 4 are now tracking well. The others are still there but have now got even more smaller ones as well. Would have preferred the 6 good sized ones to just keep going. Quality over quantity at this age!
Was given a few options:
1. Cancel
2. Stim for a few more days to see if they get bigger
3. Continue as planned but pool with another cycle
4. Just continue on as planned
As hard as it is, it is almost easier this time to just let fate decide. Can't say we haven't given it our best shot. What will be will be.
There was no way I was just going to cancel. DP is going away for a month for work on Wed so couldn't really delay it (no frozen sperm either) & it would muck up our pgd dates. I was lucky to get DP to even agree to this cycle so there is no way in hell I would get him to agree to another. Have to stop living in limbo too! It's not healthy for anyone.
FS is away until tomorrow so the FN will speak to him then to see what he reckons but we are just going to continue on & see how we go.
As everyone says we only need one & that is what I am hoping for. Keep everything crossed for me ladies, I think I am going to need it xxx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Good luck Joe!! Have they increased your meds to try and push them along?
I had my first fet on Tuesday and I'm now in the 2 week wait. I think this has been the hardest part of my full ivf journey so far, time feels like it's standing still! I'm keeping busy but the what ifs are always at the back of my mind! On a positive note I have had the best nights sleep over the last 4 nights, I'm feeling so tired all the time!!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Thanks Snazzy! Good luck to you too xx
Its been a bit of a wait for you to get here so hoping it all goes well :)
2ww is not my favourite part either but its way better than the wait between collection & transfer to see if you get anything to actually transfer!
As for upping my meds, was already on 350 of gonal f & 75 luveris so they were pretty high as it is. Trigger tonight @ 11.10. Better set an alarm so I don't miss it :)
Its my DD's 6th birthday party tomorrow so plenty to keep my head busy in the mean time. If all goes well, transfer will be on her actual bday so hoping that is a good omen for us all :)
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Still feeling a bit sore from collection but doing ok.
Now for the numbers...got 5, 4 were mature & 3 have fertilised. Not great but still hanging in there xx
Snazzy when is your BT? Hope you are doing well xx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
3 out of 5 to fertilise is good joe!! Are you going to 3 days or 5 day blastocyst?
Friday I have my blood test, I have done a hpt but it's come back negative. Will wait now until Friday!
Wishing all the best for you this cycle Joe!!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hoping its just a little too early for you snazzy FX for your BT on Friday xx
We are going for a 5 day blast transfer...just hope we get at least 1 normal to make it to transfer this time!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
fingers crossed for just one lucky one, joe... hope your daughters party went well. xx
good luck snazzy. : )
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Snazzy, how did your BT go today? Hoping for the best xx
Got a call from my FS this afternoon (not normally a good thing!). PGD results weren't meant to come through until tomorrow so I was expecting the worst but astonishingly we managed to get 2 unaffected. Not getting carried away though as they said yesterday the quality wasn't great so FS has recommended that unless 1 is good enough to freeze that we tranfer both. So we really are going for broke with this last cycle!
My DD had an awesome bday party thanks andie. The celebrations have continued all week so I am very caked out (both baking & eating)! Never thought I would say that!!! Her actual bday is tomorrow so hoping that is a good omen :)
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
That's exciting news Joe! Congratulations on getting 2!! I hope your DD has a great day tomorrow also! You must be tired and baked out after all the celebrations!
Unfortunately for us we got a negative today :-( we have the option to go again as soon as my cycle starts again which I think we will do, we only have 1 left in the freezer so fingers crossed this one works!
Good luck with the transfer Joe!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Oh snazzy...feeling for you xxx it is so hard. Take care of yourself xxx
Hope your next one is the ONE!!!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Golly gosh the wait to see if embryos are unaffected, is worse than the TWW!!!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Yep nerve wrecking isn't it! I think its worse as we have absolutely no control over it. We are at the mercy of those little things in the petri dishes trying to do their thing whilst waiting for the results. Fingers crossed for tomorrow though Emma xx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
I HATE this waiting :(
Having plenty of symptoms but only 5 days post hcg shot
Don't want to do hpt but I just want to know already.
DP is away for another 2 weeks & I just need a hug :(
If I'm not preg I just want to stop the meds so that I stop feeling like I am :(
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
hugs, joe. that must be hard with no dh there atm... who do you aim your progesterone rage at then?! hang in there, not too much longer to go. xx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
And that's the end of that :(
Now just need to wait for the drugs to clear so that I don't still feel like I'm pregnant.
Feeling very empty inside but I know that I have given this my best shot. Age unfortunately has gotten the better of me.
Physically & emotionally drained....there will always be tears....but can't put myself through this again :(
Feeling very blessed to have shared my journey with such wonderful, supportive women xxx
Time to be thankful for my one true blessing & how much joy she has/will bring us both :)
She doesn't know how special she truly is!
Looking to the future....
Wishing you all the very best of happiness & hope all your wishes & dreams come true xxx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Ohh Joe, I understand the heartache! Really feeling for you! Treasure the one you have she is a true blessing!
Hoping your body turns back to normal soon (without all the hormones!!) so you can put this journey behind you and look ahead to many memories with your DD.
All the best Joe, thank you for all your kind words and support you have given me xox
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
So sorry, joe. It's just cruel & unfair. I don't know what else to say other than I wish it was different for you. Xx
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Just popping in - I don't get any notifications anymore :-(
Joe - I was really hoping to hear positive news from you, I am so sorry that your journey has ended. So heartbreaking after everything you have been through. I hope you are doing okay. Thinking of you xx
Good luck snazzy with your next cycle - sorry to hear it didn't work. Always hard with PGD as you expect it to work.
AFM - 23 weeks & all going well. Every day I count my blessings & just so grateful after the 9 cycles, girls its such a tough journey, but nothing good comes from giving up. Stay strong!
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Great to hear your news Elarwood! Congratulations to you!
I hope you are travelling along well Joe!
As for me I was scheduled to have my embryo transfer on Wednesday, and I received the call just as we were about to leave to say that our embryo didn't make the thawing process. So we are back to the drawing board, that was our last embryo. I guess we will start saving again and try another cycle in the new year.
Take care everyone!xo
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Oh snazzy that must have been heartbreaking. Feeling for you xxx
This journey we have all endured can be so damn hard. Take care snazzy, take time for yourself & here's hoping that when you return in the new year, all your dreams will come true xxx
So good to hear from you elarwood. So happy it is all going well for you. Little bubs will be here in no time xxx
AFM considering everything I am doing ok. Glad to finally have DP home. Still a sense of grieving & very hard to see little bubbas when I am out & about. Luckily none of my friends are preggers at the moment. I certainly don't begrudge those that are, merely mourning what I will never get to experience again. Feeling very blessed to have my beautiful princess, she certainly has been getting lots of cuddles :)
Trying to look to the future but some days are easier than others.
Love to you all & again thanks for all your wonderful support xxx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi Guys,
So sorry to see your news Joe and Snazzy. That kind of disappointment is tough to process/bear. I'm not sure how I would have come to terms with it if we had not got one.
I have already started thinking how we might go about trying to make another one. I suspect we won't waste much time trying naturally and go straight back into a PGD cycle. Given how long it took for this one, I am not sure I am willing to risk wasting time we might not have.
I'm 22wks now and all tests are clear. We are having a very active girl, she kicks quite a lot, freaked me out the first time it happened, now I worry when she has gone quiet.
best wishes to you all! I look forward to keeping up with your journeys.

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi SB! That is wonderful news :) I think that is what I enjoyed most about being pregnant, feeling bubs moving around inside. It really is such a surreal feeling. Wishing you the very best for the rest of your journey xxx
AFM some days are still harder than others. DP has been wonderful with all my ups & down, grumps & funks which means so much to me. Focussing on the future & giving all my loving to DD for who I am eternally grateful to be a mum to.
Wishing everyone the very best xxx

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi All,
I hope you are all travelling along well.
We have decided to start another round of ivf in September! Hoping for a better outcome this time. I spoke with my ivf doctor and he has suggested using a different medication to improve the quality of my eggs, they managed to retrieve 24 eggs last cycle, but we lost about 10 as they were not mature, and after waiting to day 5 and doing PGD we only had 2which were not successful.
When I spoke with the specialist he lost me when he was talking about menopausal nuns urine! Apparently there is a hormone in that has proven successful..... Has anyone else heard of this or used it??
Will keep you posted on our next round!
Xox

Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Hi Everyone,
We're getting all our ducks in a row to start trying for baby#2! We've met with our specialist & have spoken with Genetics. Our last cycle was in 2012 & a lot has changed it seems!
Anyways I'll go through & catch up on everyone but in the mean time i hope you are all well.
BTW....Is this the last thread??
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
popping in... good luck j.bear, how exciting! this is the last thread, it's been quite quiet. hopefully you will resurrect it. :-)
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Thanks Andie. We are nervously excited!! Haha. Hope you & your lil family are well.
-
Re: IVF with PGD # 11
Snazzy, did you end up doing a cycle in September? What was the story with the menopausal nuns, sounds interesting!
We're hoping to start a cycle in Feb! I am told any embryos will be frozen & tested? Not sure how it all works now. Can anyone shed any light? I've called the nurse because feel a little lost.
Hope everyone is well x
