Hi Jess
Congratulations!!! Seeing those first pics at your ultrasound will be so unbelievable for you both!!!
Jess congratulations!!! I am so happy for you!!! Hoping to join your smiling in a few weeks!!
Hi all! Hope everyone had a good weekend. How is everyone?
AFM- no news is good news I guess, just trying to continue on my path of healthy living in preparation for our next cycle in a few months. Had my second acu appt on Saturday, was so relaxing.
Anywho hope everyone is well xo
Hi JBear,
I'm back from holidays and doing the healthy thing in earnest now too. Between now and my FET which will be in about 6 weeks I am limiting processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, carbs, sugars and working hard on getting lots of exercise. I have 4 in the freezer and don't want to get down to the last one before one sticks!!
Hi Ladies,
So glad to hear you are well and staying healthy. Sending you all healthy thoughts.
I'm going well, eating way too much but at least I have no morning sickness. Fingers crossed for a blood test in a week and a scan a week after that.
JBear - I swear by accu. It is truly amazing and I am sure he reason it all worked for me this time round. Keep it up, it's fabulous as you are discovering.
I hope you are all having a good start to your week.
Jess :)
Hey ladies,
What is happening with FETs and the like?
I had a blood test today and things are going really well. Just in the final stages of deciding private or public. What do you think? I'm so confused and DH said he will do what ever I want so not helping me decide.
I hope you are all well and having a good start to your weeks.
Jess
Hi Jess,
So so happy for you that things are going well!!
I'm just waiting for AF and then will be on my FET cycle. I'm really excited and can't wait to get going but I'm getting scared it wont work :(
I will be going public. Where I live there are only two major hospitals and the major public one has a good neo natal unit onsite, and the Obs in this town go backwards and forwards between public and private anyway :)
Good luck with whatever you decide. I think it depends on where you live, like Sydney and Melbourne I am sure there would be a huge difference between public and private hospitals, but there isn't here :)
Hi ladies,
Jess- Yes i am loving acu, really hoping it will help improve the quality & give us our BFP. Glad to hear everything is going well, what an exciting time. Sorry but I can't offer any advice on public vs private.
BF - OMG how annoying is the waiting, too much time to think! Well all I can say is try to be positive, easier said than done I know. Sending you some positive vibes xo
AFM - Just waiting for AF, hasn't come since last month. Bit weird but I'm thinking I might be out of wack since my d&c and Hysteroscophy? I have a follow up appt with my FS tomorrow so I guess I'll ask her then.
Hey JBear,
Yep waiting for AF is driving me INSANE!!
Good luck with your FS today. Love how they say you should be back to normal after one period after a stim, yet everyone seems to get out of wack!!
Anyway I'm a bit worried that I wont ovulate in time for my natural cycle, so I'm googling everything I can about balancing hormones etc. See how we go......
Hey Lovelies, I wrote a reply Friday but it disappeared. Don't u hate that! Ok so my appt went well, FS pretty much said there was nothing abnormal found from the Hysteroscopy (not sure if I spelt it right). So just got to get rid of this cold & we will do another cycle next month.
How r u going BF? AF here yet? I hope u found some info to help online.
Sorry and how is everyone else? xox
Hey JBear,
Still waiting for AF but PMS is in force, so hopefully any day now!! Trying to do all the right things to get some regularity into my cycle. FS said I would have til about day 20-23 to ovulate before it is cancelled so just praying all goes that way. This cycle I O'd on about day 30.
Glad there was nothing found in your test, that's good news! Will you be cycling soon then?
Jess, hope you are feeling well!!
Hey Ladies,
JBear so happy your scan went well. I swear accu is the reason we are pregnant this time round.
Had a scan today - everything looks fabulous. We have a 12 mm "peanut" with a very healthy heart beat.
What if AF? Sorry still have not learnt all the abreviations.
Hope you are all having a good week.
Jess :)
Hey Jess,
How exciting about your scan!! You must be over the moon!!
AF is "Aunt Flo" - your period. Sorry for all the acronyms!! ;)
I think I'll do Acu before and after again this cycle too, but not doing it every week leading up and every second day after transfer, just cost me too much money :(
Hey bf,
I know what you mean about the cost. It all adds up so fast. I only did it leading up to transfer and then before and after on the same day of transfer. After that they said I should avoid acu stimulation until at least 6 weeks to just let the body settle in.
Fingers crossed for you.
Jess xo
Oh BF i really hope that it all works out in that time frame, It's so hard to not stress out when your relying on your body to do something specific in a set window of time. What kind of stuff did you find online about regulating your cycle?
Co-indecently AF came the day of our FS appointment, I was sort of starting to freak out thinking that it might not come, and what if it's doesn't come next month! LOL oh how the mind torments. So yes we are aiming to do a cycle this month, hopefully my next period is 'on time'.
Jess! That is super exciting about your scan  very happy to hear everything is going so well. Yeah we are really hoping that acu will do the trick, it's definatley helping me feel more focused and positive.
I'm in Melb & the person I see is very reasonably priced $45 (well i think so) but it all adds up especially when your doing PGD as you can all appreciate.
That's awesome JBear, so glad you are cycling this month!!! woohoo!!! also, $45 is a total bargain, my guy was twice that price! Keep it up double time LOL!!!
I didn't find much about regulating my cycle. I have started taking vitex as a possible assistance, but really... it's not that scientific. I have been doing reading about medicated vs natural and there doesn't seem to be much in the difference of success rates, natural slightly higher perhaps, just more of an inconvenience and a lot of ladies seem to really dislike the drugs.
I am just hoping my body had a shocker couple of months and I'll be right next month. Meanwhile, the only sign of AF is my raging hormones and insatiable appetite...
Hi everyone!
I'm new here and found this place by googling for a forum with a group about IVF/PGD.
I am just starting the whole IVF/PGD process for a condition I (only recently) found out I had. So far we have seen the FS done some general tests to make sure my husband and I have no other fertility problems (Sperm test, blood tests, ultrasounds etc) and we have also seen the geneticist and talked about making a work up test etc. We are waiting to see the FS this Wednesday again to talk about the results and for him to write up a treatment plan so we can get started. Apparantly the work up test can take up to 12 weeks and we were supposed to start that last week but the nurse wasnt available to take our blood :wall: which we were a bit annoyed about as I can't get another day off from work until the end of the month.
The FS also wants us to do ICSI and CGH so we will be doing all frozen transfers.
I really wanted to join a group where other people are going through something similiar so I can talk about it (I am a member of another pregnancy forum and love it but no one else there has been through PGD). So I can't wait to talk to all of you :)
I'm so anxious to get started with the IVF and hate all this waiting so need some distractions to help pass the time :D.
Look forward to getting to know all of you (sorry about the long intro post).
Hi Booboo,
Welcome to a new time I your life. Good luck. Try and relax as much as possible and know it will happen when it happens. Yoga is a great idea if you don't do it already.
Our work up took 24 weeks, it doesn't mean it will for you, just make sure you don't set yourself deadlines.
All I can say is start acupuncture and exercise. It is the only thing to take your mind off the wait other than work. Also does someone close know what you're going through other than your husband? My mum was my leaning post and I could not have done it without her.
Are you doing this through G?
Jess
Hi Booboo,
Sorry you find yourself here but welcome! I'm also sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.
We are doing PGD for a disorder my husband has which is a 50/50. The workup took about 14 weeks for us, but if you are with the big clinic starting with G (which your post sounds like you are) they are great at giving updates. When I was going mad wondering where everything was up to, they had no problem with me calling for updates. You will do ICSI by default because they can't risk any other DNA getting in around the embryo when they test it. A freeze all is a good idea too.
PGD is a whole other level of stress on top of IVF, so come and let out your stress in here, we're all in it together so we can share each other's joy of having a healthy baby some day soon. :)
AFM, well AF finally has turned up this morning. I'm not confident I'll ovulate by day 22 or thereabouts, but at least I feel like I am on the way tonight. DH and I are going out for dinner and a "last hurrah" tonight, as it will be brazil nuts and vegetables steamed in blessed water from now on ;)
Hi to everyone else!
Hi Booboo,
I hope you find this forum helpful, i know i certainly have! Like BF said PGD is, a whole other level of stress on top of IVF. It can be really hard to talk to others who don't understand what your going through so this forum and the lovely people are a huge support.
We are doing PGD for trans-located chromosomes I have, it probably took about 3 months for our work up but they had some problems with the dyes. I am the most impatient person but I have trained the lil voice in my head to say 'all good things comes to those who wait'. There is a lot of waiting doing PGD & IVF so look after yourself & each-other.
BF - Yeah i'm pretty happy with my acu guy, as I understand it he is very reasonably priced.
Yay for AF, what day of your cycle are you? Gosh I will keep my FX that you ovulate by day 22 as planned. Enjoy your night out have a massive yummy feed and indulge
AFM - I have my appointment with the nurse next Thursday & will be waiting for AF to arrive so I can start jabbing!
How is everyone else?
Thanks for the replies guys :)
Yes I am going through G for the ivf/pgd (are we not allowed to say the name?).
Yeah the waiting thing stresses me out too. We will be seeing the nurse scientist and accounts person on 3/9 and then I guess they will start the work up. Still a way to go before we start :(
Did anyone else have cgh testing one?
Hi booboo!
We did PCR rather than CGH, hopefully your workup will be quick!
I think we are allowed to mention names with some discretion but I try not to say anything that could come up in an internet search.
The day with the nurse/accounts/scientist is really full on, write down any questions you have and take a pen to write down the answers. By the end of the day I had forgotten a lot of the finer details.
Hi to everyone else!!
AFM, I'm going for my first bloods on Thursday to see how things are going. Ho hum.
Hey ladies,
Just a quick one as I'm at work, how is everyone? It's pretty quiet in here lately, so I hope ur all well and keeping busy.
I have my appt this thurs to pick up the drugs!!! Super excited now.
Sorry B not sure what our tests were but I can check my file if u want?
Anyone else had to get a new ref in order to continue to claim? It's super annoying going to yet another dr for a piece of paper!
Xoxo
BF good luck for Thursday xo
Thx JBear. My referral ran out a couple of months ago so I had to go get a new one. I had to sit there and tell the GP the whole bloody story all over again before he would write it, even though there were other referrals in the system! So annoying!!
Hi Girls,
I was wondering if I might join you. It is looking like I will be heading to PGD soon.
For those of you who don't know me here's my story so far.
I'm gay and single. I started this journey Feb. 06 started temping and taking vitamins as an ex boyfreind of mine (was straight once!) had agreed to be my donor. In the Aug. he backed out, not ready to be a dad. I was devasteted he is my best freind and I could think of no one better to be my baby's dad. We remain best freinds but I took 6 months before I could even think about looking for someone else. A few months later a gay friend of mine agreed and we got to the testing stage only to find out he was HIV+ and did not know. After supporting him through this I enlisted my freinds help and got them to pretty much ask any guy they met if he wanted to be a dad (I only ever wanted to use a known donor who will very much be in the child's life) . I met Donor Daddy No.1 in Nov. 07. We did home insems. from Feb. 08 till Oct. 09 and had 2 pgs and mc both at 7 weeks on Anzac day a year apart. We moved to IUI and had 2 mc and a chemical. We then did 2 IVF and 1 FET all BFN. He had very low sperm count which got worse and worse (I found out later he was binge drinking and popping pain meds the whole time) and after the FET we gave up. I met Donor Daddy No.2 in Oct '11 and he is awesome, such a sweet guy. We did 6 months of home insem and had 1 chem pg. We have just finished a cycle in which we were going to use donor eggs from my 23 year old friend. Unfortunately, by some unbelieveable stroke of bad luck (like I needed any more!), it turned out she had a AMH of less than 1 and is premenopausal so she only grew one egg and the cycle was cancelled. Now maybe the universe is just telling me 'it ain't never gonna happen, give it up!' but I'm just not ready to quit. I would use donor eggs again from another friend but Donor Daddy does not want to use donor eggs anymore and wants to try IVF.
I have no idea how I muster up any hope that my eggs are any good now as not believing this was how I got my head around using donor eggs to begin with. Plus the whole financial burden comes down on me but what choice do I have?
On the plus side I do stim pretty well (got 20 eggs first time round). Just waiting to hear if FS wants me on the bc pills first. So here we go, next chapter! I sometimes wonder what I would have spent all my time, energy and money doing over the last 4 1/2 years if I hadn't been TTC?
Hi Sunbeam & welcome to the world of PGD!
Thx for sharing your story, you have been through so much! Are you looking at PGD because you have had problems with implantation in the past?
Good luck & hope you get your rainbow baby very soon!!
Welcome Sunbeam and goodluck, i sometimes think about the money we've spent on our journey but i just think that I would gladly do it all again and again if it means we get a healthy baby in the end.
Hi ladies, how is everyone? Got my drugs last night and now I just wait.........oh but I'm so impatient!!!!! Lol have a good Friday xo
Oooh JBear that is so exciting!!!! What drugs are you on?
AFM, had my first BT yesterday and don't have to go back til Monday, so I think things are moving very slowly. I feel sure it will end up cancelled. Oh well, at least something is happening which makes me feel like progress.
I'm have gonal f & antagonist. Eeek!
So exactly how long do u wait before u have trf? Sorry I don't know a lot about fet.
Exciting JBear, keep me posted on how it goes!
If I do O which would be in about 10 days, then I would have transfer 5 days after that. If I don't O, wait for AF again and do a medicated cycle which would have me transfer about day 20 ish. *sigh*
Thanks BF! I hope ur body is doing its thang and u O on time. I hate all this waiting, don't u wish u had a lil crystal ball sometimes!?
I'm feeling moody as hell so I'm thinking AF is on her way...I'm CD25 so it should be any day now.
Does anyone here cut out caffeine and sugar all together when doing a cycle?
Hey JBear,
Hope AF hurries up!!! So frustrating isn't it! I cut out caffeine ages ago. I don't cut out sugar on a cycle, just alcohol, and try to eat lots of fresh food, eat out less & stay away from processed foods.
I would LOOOOOVE a crystal ball, if anyone has one I could borrow or buy, I'll pay top dollar!! ;)
Hi to everyone else, how are you all going?
Hi Girls,
brightfuture - If you find the crystal ball shop please please give me the address I'd love one. Mind you if I'd had one at the start of this I'm not sure I would have believed what it showed me! They have suggested PGD because of my age and really I'm happy with anything that reduces my chance on yet another mc. Not long till TF, does it look like it's going ahead?
Jbear - I do cut down to one coffee a week in a cycle usually only have one a day normally anyway. I cut out all sugar for a month earlier in the year (not in a cycle) and it did feel really good. When you eat no sugar you no longer crave it.
AFM - I saw FS yesterday. I will be starting the pill on sat/sun when AF arrives so if all goes to plan EPU should be around the end of Sept. FS wanted to put me on 450 of FSH but I talked him down to 350 since I managed 20 eggs on 300 just 2 years ago (and 12 on 250) and my AHM was still at 20 last Nov. I felt 450 would over stim me and I'd end up being cancelled.
Hey there,
Thanks for the feedback ladies. I have just cut back until i actually start my cycle then i will cut it out now, as for sugar I am finding that one hard to cut out :(
Sunbeam I'm glad you got a good result from your FS, you must be so excited to have the ball rolling.
AFM - I am still waiting...... day 28 today. Had a call for genetics they need more blood from DH & I for the tests, it seems they ran out. Was a bit freaked out initially but she was really reassuring that everything is fine and they will be ready for us by the time we are ready to go.
How's everyone else?
BF - Any sign of O?
xx
Morning ladies,
J.Bear, are you trying to cut all sugar out or just sugary snacks? If it is snacks, I changed my cravings for chocolate for things like sultanas, you still get that instant sugar hit and they're still not great, but slightly better!! Glad you're doing well on the rest of the stuff so far!! Any sign of AF?
Sunbeam, things are moving along for you!! Very exciting!! Any sign of AF for you?
AFM, yep I O'd on day 17, can't believe it, I was so sure this cycle was going to be a bust. I get to start the pessaries tonight (I've only done crinone before so will be interested to see the difference in the side effects) but only one a night at this stage, then if bloods are good on Sunday it will be a transfer on Monday! Woohoo!! My lining was 9.2 on Wed and type three so that was looking good. I am quietly excited but trying to stay realistic. My mantras for the next few days are around trusting my body, trusting my embie, trusting the doctor & trusting the embryologist to choose the right embie out of the freezer! Wish me luck & I'll keep you posted on how it goes!!
hi girls,
im popping myself in here, short story is i have 2 children but have had 5 miscarriages trying to get a 3rd child, we are now going to pgd as they think the most likely problem is from chromosomal abnormalities (im 39).
im starting on Lucrin tonight and will have EPU mid september
brightfuture: fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly the next few days and you get your embie transferred without any problems :-)
jbear: are you just having tests at the moment ?
Jessir: congrats on your pregnancy, how far along are you ?
BooBoo: hi to you, are you just starting out on the pgd journey ?
sunbeam and i know each other so don't think i'm ignoring her if i don't respond to her on here, we talk a lot off BB :-)
So much exciting news going on here at the moment. Hopefully a lot more too.....wishing everyone well!!!
Have just started my tracking cycle and am currently at day 5 and starting blood tests from day 10 to see when I ovulate. Similar to BF I think as looking to transfer 5 days after O. Have been doing accupuncture with this cycle (basically trying anything to up my chances) but apparently my blood is still low (?) according to my accupuncturist so she has given me some herbs to take for the next couple of weeks to help increase my blood. Only prob is they make me throw up! Anyone used TCM for a cycle? Am going to try to incorporate the herbs in some muffins to see if that will help. Been given a list of foods to eat as well that are meant to help. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!
