Hi Hope,
Keep eggs if you can, too hard without them, and they are such great protein and easy. Also choc is prob OK unless you know you have a problem with it, and it is soooo nice. I usually try to do too much at once, so suggest you do it gradually, but I'd never actually follow that suggestion!!!

Going out for Thai tonight with friends who are also IVf veterans, 2 preg, v inspiring. Yummmmmy

Also a big thanks you to everyone, now I have got so much of my chest, thanks for your patience, I really feel so much happier. DH is very pleased as I am being much nicer to him!

I have one other 'diet' related queston. Whats eveyones take on the consumption of alohol. Do you differ depending on where in your cycle you are?

Hi Hope

The only time i stop drinking is in the TWW. Otherwise i don't worry about it too much - although I am not a very big drinker. Generally i only have a couple of glasses of wine on the weekend.

Hope - I really have barely had alcohol since TTC 3 yrs ago but now its become more of a habit of just not really wanting it than being conc over effects on IVFetc. I would not be fussed about having a drink or two during stim but defnitely not post EPU. But thats just me not wanting to regret anything

AFM- Well, a few hrs of VERY light spotting on Tues seems to be all I get this mth. Saw my nurse yesterday and had some bloods done which showed everying "flat"/ baseline ( as it should be had AF started). She said it does happen to some women that they just get no bleeding after Provera so was ok with me just starting up. I have always bled at least a bit with Provera, so am still concerned as to why there was no lining to shed etc but she didn't even feel the need to consult my Dr so praying all IS truly ok in there. So, started up FSH, LH and my plethora of other meds today.
First scan and BT on Mon. Let the turbulent ride begin!!

Hope - I do same as molly girl, just none in TWW, but not very good drinker anymore, had a lime daquiry (sp?) tonight then felt sick!!! Had to lie down, how sad. Maybe girls on Preg after LTTTC would be a good source for that question!

Had great dinner last night with my new to IVF friend (turns out she has done more stim cycles then me) and couple of LTTTC who are preg. So great to share all the theories etc. Will be making it regular.

I have scan tomorrow for last FET. I am already thinking about the next stim, in case it doesn't survive the thaw.

Am emailing gavin sacks to see if warrants a phone consultation - spoke to his secratary today who was helpful. Thanks for the suggestion girls.

Also have had reply on immunology thread from girl who has thyroid issue and same pattern as me, so will compare notes there. Thanks for that suggestion too!!

Thanks for your responses Ladies I really appreciate you letting me know what you do. I know there is no real right and wrong answer but I dont want to have any regrets either.

I dranks as often as I felt like after our last BFN (over end November to early Jan) first time in yearssssss. I really enjoyed the freedom of it (weird I know). But now I back to usually only having two drinks at a time as I'm leading up to my stim cycle and then I dont have any.

sorry i have been really slack as of late, i don't know whether it has anything to do with me being back at work for the first time in 8 weeks!

Molly - So good to hear you so positive, and great that your FS is letting you take the lead a little! good to see that you can work together in achieving your family dream sooner. How did you go with the food intolerance testing?

Sam - (now that i know that is your real name and not poppy! lol) which clinic are you with, I feel that prednislone has become very popular topic in some of the TTC threads, i know both my FS in Melbourne were not that keen on letting me go on it again even though i got a BFP after taking it while cycling. Im also still taking clexane injections this cycle! I hope they have a positive effect for you too.

When i had the test for NK cells with Dr S i just had the BT done on day 23! although this was probably not accurate as my cycles are all over the place, he was going to do a biopsy but due to all the infections i had recently had (due to tubes) we decided to wait for BT results first and i would go back up to follow up if needed. He was happy to recommend the protocol anyway due to many MC and failed IVF cycles for my age.

Meredith - Welcome my sweets, i have followed your journey in other threads, im sorry life finds you here but welcome! I see you have also met with DrS and that you will be trying his protocol, my FS was not too keen but allowed me to do it anyway! I was always in contact with DrS via email and he was always available for a quick reply. my only worry was how to wean off the pills, it took me a while but finally stopped then after my MC. I would like to use them again only as they helped me to achieve my BFP, but not in my next cycle as FS is not keen - oh well GL to you with them, it is relatively new process in Melbourne and Dr S warned me that the FS in Melbourne do not agree with his treatment. I decided that if my FS was not going to allow it then i was going to have cycles with DRS! that was not going to be cheap!! flights to Sydney - Medicare refund? lol i don't think so! FWIW - i was on 20mg Prednislone and 20mg of clexane every day from TF. Great that you can start your cycle now!

Mel - Any news from the clinic yet? Yes i have still been a shocker with my meds!!! arrr, i also have some herbs from my NP but struggle with them too, will explain all later! cutting tomato out? umh i wonder what food group you would put them into as they probably have similar foods to avoid?

Hope - How are you ? not long now till your cycle in Feb? I would recommend a book that you may like to read in helping you to ask further questions/ testing it is 'Getting Pregnant by PROF. Robert Jansen', It a big pink book and i got it at my local bookshop and it was in stock. I have found it very useful leading up to a FS appointment and take it with me as a reference. I think BW put me on to it?

With regards to diet, i have PCOS, and am very naughty and eat whatever i like when i like. I went on detox diet last year and lost a few KG with a np while taking herbs and felt great and wish i was doing that again, it was just all unprocessed food and no alcohol, if i had to then only clear sprits and soda! so i stuck to vodka! TBH i really didn't drink for over 12 months but was not doing IVF then as i was waiting for my op. someone once said to me dont do anything you may later regret so if you are already thinking 'is it ok to drink during TWW and worry about that now then i wouldn't'

AFM - very bloated here and feeling yuck! i have stacked on so much weight since my op and am feeling horrid! Im walking around in jeans that i cant even do up, thank goodness long tops are in lol! With regards to my diet i have been really slack! wine is my killer at the moment and that is why i have put on so much i think, now that i am back at work i hope to settle back into more of a routine, my trouble is that i had an eating disorder for 5 years and that still lingers over me a little and when i worry about my weight it brings back all those stresses you have spoken about! I know that i need to loose it if i am to believe in myself that this IVF will work, having a neg day about it all i guess, the headache is not helping, ok time for a nap to get rid of it before going out for dinner tonight xx

My results came back that I am not allergic to anything just wheat intollerant ???? So i guess i will just cut most of the wheat products out of my diet. I already know that I feel better if i don't eat them.

My bridesmaid was Lou, passed away from stomach cancer 1.5 years ago. She always said do whats best for you! will be celebrating her birthday on Tues with her "inner sanctum", 4 closest friends.

Found that back in my regular routine I am looking after myself better, although sleep alluding me until quite late, still on perth time I think.

Got an email back from famous Dr S! what a nice man. Anyway he says see what happens this FET. If no good then NK cell test might help. He knows my FS and suggests discussing with him as they know each other. will do that. Got to get my head around having a not trying cycle to do the test.

I work in LDC - long day care and one of my mums at work is the embie boilogiest at City fertility, i remember when they had the big clinic move as i was too discussing moving my embies from Monash to Melbourne! GL with your treatment there. x

CD 30 today so af should not be here for another 5 - 15 days (who knows) but for the last couple of days i have had really bad af pains, going to ap on Tuesday for the first time since my MC in April/ May hoping that will help to bring her on.

ETA BB are massive and sore, and my tummy looks like im 3mths pg!, my diet has been so out of wack and i feel very bblllaaahhh

Loula - are you sure you're not pg? Sounds like you've got some symptoms!
Hoping that at least if you haven't got a miracle, that things sort themselves out soon. 2009 IS going to be the year for this thread!!
When are you doing your next cycle?
DrS told me the same thing about Melbourne FS's. Don't quite get the HUGE difference between Syndney and Melb on the whole immunology theories but luckily, my FS is one that DOES believe and happy to go along with the protocol. She has taken on some patients whose original FS wouldn't agree to using Pred and low and behold they fell pg using it with her!

Poppy- Glad you were happy with DrS - he is very good with the emails. Hopefully you won't actually need to se ehim cos you WILL be pg with the next FET. When are you doing that?

AFM - just done 4th dose of FSH and really been feeling it early this time. My ovaries are aching!
First scan and BT tomorrow at 7.45am so interested to see where we are at.

Hope everyone is doing well (sorry I really need to spend more time in here and check on everyone's progress)

I am having an absolute BLAH day!!! FIrst of all I went to the clinic this morning to have a BT to see what more hormone levels were like. I am waiting for AF so i can start a FET but it has been 40 days since she last appeared and yesterday i had some old brown blood when i wiped but nothing came of it so i wasn't sure whether i should start the progynova or not. BT came back inconclusive. Most of the levels were baseline except for the LH which was 18 (apparently needs top be below 10 for baseline) so nurse just said to wait a few days and see if i get a proper bleed. If not then I have to start provera on thurs and then wait some more. Then my new FS rang to say that he doesn't want to try any protocols that include aspirin (which is what i wanted to try) as he believes there is no conclusive research to back it up - unless i have an autoimmune disease which no one seems to want to test me for as it is "unlikely" AAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like i need to cry or scream or something but i am afraid if i open that flood gate i might just never stop!!! When is my body going to do what it is supposed to do. i can't even get a damn period these days.

Sorry for the rant I am just really down and need someone to let it all out to. Don't know what i would do without all of you

Ohhh Mollygirl I'm sorry that you have such a ****e day. AF sucks. She seems to come early when your not ready for her or doesn't come when you need her to.

Is the autoimmune testing something you want done? So you can then exclude it?

I dont know much about asprin protocols but it must feel frustrating that he doesn't want you to use it.

You dont need to appologise for 'ranting'. Thats what we are all here for. Let it out and hopefuly we can help you with your 'frustrations'.

I forgot to say that I noticed in your signature you have 4 Kings Charles spaniels - they are gorgeous natured doggies. They must keep you busy. We have two dogies and they are always under my feet...funny little things

MOlly - Oh I so get you on how frustrating our bodies can be! Mine never does what its supposed to.
I so hope you get a proper AF very soon or at least can start the provera to bring things on.
Can you push your FS more on the testing? I can totally understand wanting to try something new next cycle... it seems warranted to me. My FS was never that keen on asprin either as it has been shown to have negative effects on implantation. I had all the testing,coming up negative for all the standard immune disorders buts she did however, prescribe me clexane ( injectable anticoagulant) after my 2nd m/c and I got my DS on the next cycle.
Can you talk to your FS again and explain your concerns and desire for more testing?

Scan this morning showe about 30 follies but only 8-10 of those of any reasonable size. Maximum 10mm. So about on par with previous cycle except less maturing follies which is what we were aiming for ( feels strange to want less eggies!). E2 900. So happy enough so far. Will have another scan and BT on Wed and probably start antagonist after this.
Down side to today was yet another pg anouncement from a friend. Thats about 3 I think in the last few weeks. Trying very hard to put on brave face and be happy but its hard when I am truly crying out inside... "why not me, its not fair!!!".

SamandPoppy: I am a fellow Hypothyroid sufferer with Thyroid antibodies (peroxidase) of over 1000 each time i have been tested. This is the only barrier to fertility that has come up in our two year fertility struggle and i am left wondering if it has been/ is being treated thoroughly. Last appointment with gyno/obs i demanded an appointment with reproductive endo however he would not give me referral to who i wanted to see (someone that actually had the three year reproductive endo qualification on top of everything else) and instead has sent me to just a straight endo. Before i see this guy i am wanting to know as much as i can to ask as many detailed questions as possible and feel confident that my condition is being treated adequately enough so i am not wasting my time, money and emotions with AIH or IVF (which is where we are up to now.) Have you been advised that your TSH should be between 1-2 when trying to fall pregnant?

Mummawannabe, just want to let you know that there's a minimum post count before the PM option becomes available. Give it time and keep posting!

Your follies size and quantity sounds similar to mine. Ahhh my ovaries just ache thinking about those little eggies hanging off.

Can I ask what clexane is used for. You said it was an anticoagulant.

Loula ? immaculate conception, now that?s a thought. That would make things easier for us all 

Mummawannabe ? I so feel your frustrations and I?m sorry to hear that your Gyno is not giving you the referral you?d like. Is there any other way of getting one? When I was after a referral to a FS I couldn?t get one from my own Gyno (who I had been under for 14 years) so I went to a new one and after a couple of appointments with him he gave me what I wanted which was a referral to MIVF. But then I had to find a new Gyno too, wasn?t going back to him because I felt he wouldn?t help me.

AFM I'm feeling quite anxious about tomorrows FS appointment. I'm keen to ask him about other options in regards to down regulating, I so dont want to spend what will feel like a month wasting my time taking the pill....but we'll see. I do trust everything he says.:wiggle:

Loula, I moved from Melbourne to City F, as I wanted a change, its closer to home, and on recommendation of my np, who said that Dr David is very nice (yes) and good doc (yes), smart too found out he has PHD in Imunology yesterday and he can tailor more to you (not sure so far will see) as apparantly he left Melboure as he could not do waht he wanted, I understand they all have to do the same thing or get hassled at Melband monash, lots of pollitics like every other workplace. Also they have been having very good success rate esp in last year (only open 2 years I think).
Anyway anyway, I have met 2 eb's: Susan and can't remember other lady's name though don't think she is a mum. How nice to be working with all those lovely children, I bet there are a few names you'll not use due to experience!!!

Don't stand for that ****e!!! That makes my blood boil, how dare he, you are paying, its your life!!! You could ring the RE you want to see and ask his secretary if they will accept a referral to someone else, (one of my GPs will write the referral to Dear IVF Specialist, or Dear Endocrinologist, & I have had them accepted) if not, ask if they will accept referrral from GP and get it from GP.

My ATA's are (anti thyroid antibodies) wer at Max around 300 (untreated) and have recently dropped to 42 with Thyroxine treatment and I am worried about those! So I would definitely want more info a 1000 result. I have also been taking ****aki pills form np but they only have made a small difference so far.

Yes TSH around 1, found a good endo, had an average one for a while who I thought was good, but by comparison was not! The good endo says TSH around 1.

I am trying to figure out how to start a new post on Thyroid issues in conception, so I can blurb out all the stuff in my head, can anyone help please?

Meredith - your levels are sounding really good. Mine have started s l o w l y as usual. It always takes this old body time. First BT for me after 5 days of FSH was 545 - I get up there eventually. Another BT and first scan tomorrow. How many days down are you?

Molly - you poor thing. You really need to open that floodgate and let it out. It will stop eventually..but let it out girl. I went for a session yesterday into the 'crying room' as I call it. Basically I go into see the councillor and cry for an hour. I don't have a huge amount of support so she gets it and laps it up.

Hope - how did you go with the FS today?

I live in Toowoomba and there is only one fertility specialist that does AI and IVF etc (he is part of QFG) and cos of this monopoly i kind of have to stick with him as we are about to start AI and i don't want to be travelling 2 hours to Brisbane a couple of times each cycle if i dump him and go with someone else.

I'l see what the straight endo has to say and if I'm not happy il get my GP to give me a referral to whom i want to see (both are in Brisbane). :wall:

I want to go into so much depth bout my TSH levels and such but know this is not the thread to do it.....over and out!

Hope - clexane is an anticoagulant much like heparin. I have used it due to recurrent m/c's. NO actual diagnosed problem but has been found to help some women presumable because they just have a condition yet to be diagnosed. Also thought to help with implantation. I got my DS on it but have also lost 4 more babies even whilst on it. Hence trying prednisolone now but yet to get pg to see if that will work!

MsPink - wondering where you were at. You are being very quiet! raying all goes well for you tomorrow and there is more eggies than you expect.
I have just done 6th FSH dose. This is another antagonist cycle so always goes pretty quick

S&P - sorry about calling you by your dog's name.. oops! I am a vet so really only know the animals name in most cases anyway - rarely know the owners name. hehe! How did you find Nick? Anything interesting about the colarado protocol?
Where does City fertility do there EPU etc? I am with Monash IVF and have been happy thus far but always interested to hear other options

I have quite an animated picture of my ovaries and the follicles with little eggies popping out LOL. When I actually saw real photos of this tho?mmm way off. I still prefer my image tho. LOL. AFM ? well saw the FS and after much discussion (he?s great like that) we decided to stick with the same as previously. So that?s down reg with pill then onto the dreaded Synarel, then puregon etc so a million miles later we?ll have an EPU ahhhh.

I had mentioned wanting to try and ditch the down reg but his theory on sticking with this is that we have had results (although that did include a m/c) with my body responding and my ovaries producing good quality eggs. I am happy with that.
I think the fact that he was happy to discuss it and explain why he wants to stay with the down reg was enough for me to trust his decision.

So I?m CD 18 now, so we wait to the next AF and call the nurses ? then we?ll be on our way YAY. I?m ready for this cycle to begin.

Meredith - we are almost the same timing. Today is day 8 of FSH for me. BT ok-ish - I take time to get the estrogen levels up. Scan - very average. Could only see 3. Am not going to pass judgement till Friday (next scan) because last time we found a few more the 2nd scan so I am :pray: it will be the same this time.

Hope - I also use Clexane from night of EPU. I have the MTHFR gene (you can imagine what I call it...) This can cause some clotting so FS likes me to use it to ensure nice smooth surface in the uterus. Have not had a pregnancy since I started using it - so dont know for how long. Currently all the way to BT and I would assume beyond should I ever get there..

Best friend been with Dr Nick using down reg colorado every time, including for DD 3 years ago, for about 5 stim cycles last year and is now preg with #2. RE colorado protocol, Dr Nick thinks its a great way to improve egg quality, (the problems either being egg quality, like they are assuming with me, or "oven" problem) Dr David would rather try less "harmful" ways, also np not keen. I think due to prednisolone being a steroid, but seems you only take it for 5 days, so I don't really get what they are on about. Also Dr N says down reg cycle give better quality embryos, so that is interesting. Also it is possible to do down reg with synarel from D21, not the pill, which sounded better to me.

Hope - glad you are happy with your FS appt. Its nice to feel safe in decisions made because you totally trust your Dr. Sounds like its the right choice although the whole pill thing is a real pain. I have never done down reg cycle but have had to use the pill or provera to bring on AF and I hate them... they seem so "anti" TTC IYKWIM.
Hoping the next couple of mths fly by so you can get stuck into cooking up a baby

Re clexane. I used it with DS until 13-14w but mostly stopped because I was getting a lot of bleeding episodes. If you have diagnosed clotting issues then i think they like you on it until about 36w

S&P - The Avenue is nice - have visted people there a few times.
Are you going to go with Colarado or stick with NP and FS wishes? So hard to know which way to go.
Personally, I have no worries about uing the prednisolone. I am on 20mg daily from start of FSH and will sstay on it until 20w pg ... which is going to happen this time!!!

AFM - mixed feelings about can this morning. Follies are doing as they should. I have a total of about 40 now although most are quite small. Only 4-5 ish between 11-13mm but hoping some more will catch up. My lining, however has barely changed from last scan. now at 4.7mm. Not much more i can do as I am on a whole lot of med to try and help it along and E2 2407 so guess i jut have to pray it gets going soon. Puregon dose being dropped a touch given my high follie number and repeat can on Friday.
