Hi I am new to forums so I am not sure of what I am doing - learning as I go so I hope I am placing this post in the right place?

I have already gone through 2 antagonist ICSI IVF cycles at Sydney IVF and as I will be 42 in August, I know that time is well and truly not on my side. Is there any advise out there on which clinic/doctors have worked best for them? Whether using supplements like DHEA have helped? Can you do back to back ivf cycles or is it recommended that a break be had in between them?

Any advise at this time would be very very welcome. My doctor recommends that I just go through another ICSI antagonist cycle but I just feel like doing the same thing will only get me the same results = BFN.

    Hi Shish
You could also join us in the LT TTC threads - they are great ladies and where I get all my support

I have done 3 IVF/ICSI cycles now - 2 of those were down-reg cycles with the pill, Synarel spray and then the hormone injections - one BFN and One BFP but then didnt quite stick and I basically miscarried and then the 3rd go was an antagonist cycle with BFN. My FS wants to put me back on the down reg cycle next time, which will hopefully be in September.
Ive heard a lot of people say that it is just a numbers game and that there is an average of about at least 6 IVF/ICSI goes. So perhaps just hang in there - next time could be the one. Goodluck, fingers crossed for you.

Shish ~ thank you for your wishes! There are so many lovely woman and Im sure men on BB that definitely know what you are going through. I very much have my ups and downs but its the friends on here that really get me through everything because sometimes family and friends outside of BB and TTC really dont understand the stress of it all.
As JBM says though - it can and does happen. I think its just a matter of time and when the time is right it will! Hope your time is very soon!

JBM ~ great to see you going so well, gives us hope too!

    Hi Shish,
I concieved on my 4th IVF cycle (all were ICSI as well as I was using donor sperm and to reduce the amount of sperm needed they always do ICSI). Anyway I did 3 full cycles and one frozen cycle. Got pregnant on my 3rd full cycle. I changed a few things for my final attempt: 1) I changed sperm donor, 2) had accupuncture before and after egg pickup and transfer, and 3) quit my high stress job (took up a less stressful one instead). I really think reducing my stress levels had the biggest impact on my success.

I was only 37 and a half when I did finally concieve though. 38 now and 7 months pregnant. My four cycles of IVF were spread out over 11 months. Prior to that I had spent 13 months doing donor insemination unsuccessfully.

    Best wishes

Hi Shish, if another cycle makes sense doing the same depends on how your earlier cycles went - did you have a transfer and was this of a five day blastocyst? As long as you can produce high quality blastos there is definitely hope. I've done five cycles, two of them cancelled and only had one transfer before I gave up on
IVF with my own eggs. I am now 42 and earlier this year gave birth to my daughter who was conceived using donor eggs.
