Has anyone used Gestone injections before?

    Hi all

Has anyone used Gestone injections before? I have been having injections since 2 days post pick up and had a 5 day transfer on Sun. Interested in hearing anyones experience with these injections.

    Thanks

    Hi Lily1974

I haven't used these - are they a form of progesterone support, similar to the pessaries and the crinone gel? I would be curious to find out more and what the success is what them versus the gel and pessaries. Good luck with your TWW - hope you get a BFP!

    Hi Chez

Yes it is another type of progsterone support - it is given via an inter-musclular injections in the buttocks (and hurts!).

I am using it for dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I have bleed from 5 days post ET on 8 out of 9 transfers...which means the embie probably doesnt even get a chance to try and implant. We have tried mega does of pregnal, pessaries, crinone - including all three so hoping this will help. I understand that its also used for the maintenance of early pregnancy in cases of history of repeated miscarriages due to a luteal phase defect and for people that have problems absording progesterone.

Its super expensive - $500 for 14 injections!!! and is shipped from the UK.

    Hi Lily1974

Wow - that's painful to the pocket and the butt as well! Are you giving the injections to yourself? I hope all is going well with you one week on from transfer.

Hi Chez - the injections are inter-muscular so the nurses must administer them so have been going into the clinic everyday since 1 May...... Beta is on 15/5 and so far no bleeding which is a miracle. But now getting quite nervous as have never got this far before. At the smae time, have no symptoms, but trying to keep positive.

Found out this morning that if its a BFP, I have to continue injections till 13 weeks. Very costly and a chore to drive into clinic daily, but a small price to pay for a BFP. Will even go in for the full 9 months if i have too!

    Belle333 - I hope this works too!

Wow Lily - what a hassle but I agree with you, it will be worth it in the end. The thing we put ourselves through! You must have developed a pretty good rapport with the nurses by now Best wishes for your BFP.

    Take care
    xx
