Smile 4 kids now trying ivf

i have 4 healthy children to my previous partner.I have since remarried and my new husband is infertile due to chemo he had 8 years ago.We would love a child together and are booked in for our 1st IVF ICIS cycle in Feb 2008.We are using his frozen sperm and doc said im still fertile and my pre ivf test results were all good..This is all new to me as i have never had to try to fall pregnant!! Has anyone been in a similar situation to me? Im hoping all will go well and we get pregnant but ive heard some people try so many ivf cycles to fall pregnant.Hope to hear from someone soon. mel

    Hi Mel.

    Welcome to BB!

My situation is kinda similar to yours, in a way, except that DH (dear husband) has male unexplained infertility. I am fine. I don't have any kids from a previous relationship though. DH did try to have children without success in his previous marriage, although his partner was over 40 when they were trying, so they let it go in the end, and didn't investigate any issues at the time.

I never thought I would ever have problems falling pregnant, but as couple you deal with any fertility problems that come up as exactly that - a couple - I'm sure you know

I have been through one ICSI cycle in November which was unsuccessful, but I am straight into the next one only one day after getting my negative blood test result (although I knew it was unsuccessful a few days before that). I'm trying to view it as though I was trying naturally to get pregnant without infertility issues - that conceiving naturally may not happen in the first cycle you try! It's a roll of the dice once you have successful fertilisation. The same applies once you get over the big hurdle of successful fertilisation in AC. So we're looking forward and will continue to keep trying - as my FS (Fertility Specialist) put it today "we just have to keep trying until we get the right embryo that wants to stick inside you!"

I wish you all the best and you should definitely come and hang out in the LTTTC & AC thread here where there's heaps of support and lots of people who are going through AC in different forms who have lots of experience, heaps of wisdom and who offers tonnes of support for each other.

Good luck to you and have a wonderful Christmas! Look forward to hearing how things are going for you in the new year - 2008 is going to be our year!

    Miss C

Hey thanks heaps.Im hoping all goes well. It's sooooooo expensive for the ivf we are up for $7000.
But hey im sure its all worth it.
Im not looking forward to all the hormones being pumped into me though!I suffer from migraines and sometimes they can be from hormones arrrghhh!
And good luck to you with your second round of IVF.
Sounds like you and your new hubby will have a very large family soon.
Have a great xmas and new year.
keep in touch and let me know how you are going

    Hi jbm
Well I guess your husband has to have a reverse vasectomy is that correct? Or how do they go about it?
It would be nice if you had a little girl.
Which ivf clinic are you going through?

Im going good.MY CHILDREN ARE 14,12,8 AND 7 YRS.
We were going to do the IVF in Feb but my partner and i have decided to shop around with the ivf clinics as Syd Ivf quoted us 9250 all up and we have just seen Monash ivf on the Gold Coast and so far we are pretty happy with their quote and the doctor was excellent.
As soon as we do all our tests we will prob go ahead.
Im not looking forward to all the drugs though.
And hey its so different paying to conceive a baby now as i never had to before!!!!
    all the best
    talk soon
