Just beforehand is to relax you cervix so that it is ready to accept emby, and afterwards is to ensure that enough blood flow through and will hold emby. Good luck and let us know how you go.
I am a firm believer in a/p. After 10 years and 6 cycles of IVF, we managed o get a BFP this year naturally after 6 months of a/p! it was the only thing that we had done different in the 10years of trying for a family! good luck and definately worth a session before and just afterwards!
I had acupuncture with my FET (not with my stim cycle). I had a session the week before my transfer, but that was to help with thickening my lining which was a problem at the time for me. On the day of my transfer I had a session in the morning prior to the transfer and in the afternoon after the transfer. From my understanding it is these 2 sessions (pre and post transfer) which are the important ones. These are the ones that they have done studies on that show an improvement in pregnancy rates.
I also had another session the week after my transfer to help with stress in the TWW.
Hope that it all goes well for you. At the very least I found that the acupuncture helped with my stress levels during that cycle... oh and by the way, that was the cycle that I got my BFP on!
i am 28 weeks preggo after 14 months on IVF. I had regular (about weekly) accupunture thruoghout my stim cycle, but what really work I think in my case was treatment THE afternoon after transfer and then 3-4 days when the embryo is trying to implant!! I had not tried this timing before and it was my ONLY embyro............and now a little baby inside me, and feel very blessed.
find someone who knows and understands female fertility, who listens. I was also given some chinese herbs to take (in pill form).
the VERY best of luck to you.
I also continued accuputure right though my first trimester.
