Hi everyone
Just a quick update - my transfer for this morning was cancelled. My egg didn't fertilise properly apparently, so now I am waiting for AF to arrive! I will make an appointment with my FS for this week to come up with the next plan of attack - back onto the horse again! I must be crazy!
Anyway, I have this week off so hopefully will be coping with the news a bit better by the end of it, certainly once I have a new plan and way forward I think I will feel a bit better. Take care all and good luck with everything.

AAaaawwwww Cheryl! That totally sux hun:hug:
Am so sorry it didnt work out this time. I will be hoping that you feel better once you have a plan of attack for next time round if thats what you want to do.
Sometimes I wonder how much one person can take when we have these set backs. But I guess we all endure what we can to reach our final wonderful goal.
I was considering giving up at one point and One of my friends said to me simply "do you want a baby?" when I replied "yes" she said "then you just have to keep going." And I havent forgotten that to this day, shes right I do have to keep going even thru tough times. I just hope that there aren't any more tough times for either of us! None of this will matter when we are holding our darling babies in our arms! Best wishes and I hope you are able to work out a good plan with the FS.

Hi all,
Well, i first wrote in this thread back in early June, just before EPU when i was emotionally drained and the drugs were playing silly buggers with my head. There's been a few things since then but the ultimate today... my BFP BT result. It's proof that us 1st timers really can succeed 1st time around :confetti:. I had some severe doubts, and DH wasn't keen on a second PESA if this round and the frozen emby were unsuccessful, but somehow we've been completely blessed.
And the basics of how we were told...The nurse rang and as plain as day said "Hi, it's Chris from WFC, i've got some good news for you, you are very much pregnant." I then stupidly responded "Yeah, i know i've done a few HPT's." She then said "Oh, good, well just to let you know, anything over 50 is considered positive in the BT, and you're at 1950 which means you are very much pregnant." I was so happy, DH was with me on the couch and we were both just half laughing & half staring at each other - i think it was some form of shock that it was actually clinically confirmed as opposed to a flimsy little piece of cardboard that had been sitting in my wee for a while!! Anyway, she then asked "Did you have 2 embies transfered?" Which freaked me out and i of course said "NO!" (as beautiful as 2 would be, we've never considered 2 ET's at the same time!!), and she just laughed and said that the 1950 doesn't mean that, it just confirmed i am pregnant, congratulations!
I know it probably seems so far off for some of you, it sure did for me. I thought there would be several attempts before we got there, particularly given the way some of the nurses and scientists speak (i.e. Oh, so this is only your 1st cycle then), and not to mention some of the stories on other threads which are really hard to read, but somehow it worked. And you know, if it worked for me, it can SOOOOO work for each of you.
I wish you all the best of luck in your journey's, i hope they are short and fruitful :goodluck: You have helped me through a unique period in my life, when i had very few people who knew what i was going through...and those that knew had absolutely no understanding, but you all do.
Thanks and good luck!
-
I know blayz ive done my bit now COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN EGGIES...lol..
Yes smithy We read your journal...yay again on you girl. Now how the hell did you go with the BT...im hanging to know. All good im sure:)
-
Hi all,
Well its been a few days since I last posted in here, but have been busy reading through everyones news.
Kimbe - conragtualtions to you and DH. It is wonderful news for the both of you. I am sure it will be a nice smooth preagnancy for you. You certainly do give renewed hope to us 1st timers that it actually can happen 1st time around. We get so used to hearing that it will take a couple of go's and as you say, they are very good at that reaffirming the 'oh.. you only on your 1st cycle' comment, that you tend to stop believing that it can actually happen 1st time. WELL DONE!!!!!
Venus - welcome and good luck with your cycle. Believe it or not, in my opinion, you do get used to the Synarel, maybe not the flavour so much, but on the whole its not to bad, just a necessary evil really! Keep us posted on how you are going.
Smithy..Totally agree with you, you really so feel like it is 'game on' once you have started the synarel.
AS for me.. well, had my U/S and BT today (Day 9 of injections) and so far I have about 13 follies of varying size , 5 were too small to measure (apparently they dont count - but i think they do as they can still grow!!!) the rest were ranging in size from 13mm to 8 mm. So still on the injections and in for another U/S and BT on Wednesday.
I must admit I was a bit upset at the follie count and size, as I was hoping for more. But, better than none!!!
So, :crossfingers: and lots of  that these little follies will have a growth spurt over the next few days.
Anyway, its :bedtime: for me and my follies to get some well earned beauty & growth sleep.
:bluedust: to us all and good luck folks.
Cheers.....

[COLOR="DarkOrchid"]OMG Kimbe I was in tears reading your post! (at work!) hehehe
That is like the best news ever! You did it! well done. :confetti: i am so happy for you and DH and thanks for giving me more faith in my 1st cycle!! It is just a beautiful thing! And I wish you the bestest H and H thru your PG.
Missy PMSL Come ooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn eggies!!!!
Princess Fi sounds like things are going well for you too, cant wait to see how you progress thru it all, good luck, :bluedust:
-
Kimbe - wow! Fantatic news! :happyforyou: CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope you have a H&H pregnancy!
Princess Fiona - good luck with the rest of your cycle! You are almost there! I was about one week ahead of you I think and only had one follie so you are sounding like you are set for a really good chance at success. Just to let you know re the size of your follies - mine grew from 16mm to 21mm in 48hrs as a result of the trigger injection. So there is plenty of time for your follies to grow to be nice and big and ready for EPU day! Good luck with it all.
Well to everyone else, my first cycle is officially over. Just waiting for AF to arrive now. I have my next appointment with my FS tomorrow to see what we can do differently next time. So, I won't be posting in here anymore, but I will be popping to see how you are all going. Best of luck and lots of positive vibes for lots of :bfp: for everyone here!
Take care,
Cheryl xx

Any1 in 1st IVF Cycle???
Hi Ladies,
Kimbe...that is absolutely fantastic news....I am sooo happy for you. Hope everything goes smoothly.
Cheryl, sorry things didn't work out this time, I know how that feels. I am now waiting on AF after my EPU was cancelled.
Fi, don't be too concerned about the US results...I had about 9 or 10 follies over 10mm at my first US and 19 at my second so I thought I was good to go, I was even booked in for EPU. However it turned out the Trigger injection could have given me pretty severe OHSS (though I had no signs of it on the Puregon). Did they increase your Injection amount? They would have if they thought the follies weren't growing enough. Here's hoping you have just the right number to get you through to the next stage!
Anyway..back to work and waitng on AF...Come ooooonnnnnnn already!
PS in terms of this thread I am considering myself a first timer til I get through ET. (Technically I haven't had a full cycle till that happens!) Plus I have to stick around to see how you all go!!!
Cheers
Shel

Hi All,
Chez - thanks for the update on the follie size, DH & I were starting to get worried. Good luck with cycle number 2 - I am sure it will all go well. Keep popping int to say hi though :).
Shelley, thanks for the feedback as well. No, they didnt up my puregon dose, as I am on 450 already - dont know if you can go higher than that??
ANyway, I have U/S no 2 tomorrow, so all will be revealed then!!
A Happy Wednesday and :bluedust: to all,
Fi xx

Good Luck Fi!!
missy i havent heard from her it is not like her to be quiet! hope all is well.

:hello: Girls,
Im not a first timer as ive done IVF/ICSI many times, more than i wish to have, but i am still going. I know how easy it is to get upset at u/s results etc, last week prior to my egg p/u the ultra sound guy said i only had 3 follies big enough. My doctor kept me on 300Gonal F for one extra day than normal (11days total) then trigger 12th day and egg p/u 36hours later, turned out i got alot more than expected. Alot can happen in a few days- got 5eggs, 3 okay for icsi, 2 fertilized and transfer is tomorrow. Embies doing well and dividing nicely now its in the lap of the gods. So girls i know its a huge emotional rollacoaster and things sometimes look so bleek but you have to hold onto that thought of a BABY thats why you are doing this. Just keep going and im sure you will all do fine - my nurse said to me on my very first visit - you must believe its going to work otherwise you shouldn't be here! sending you all :bluedust: and best wishes for an oldtimer!

Any1 in 1st IVF Cycle???
Woohoo, AF arrived this afternoon...finally!! So day one of the Pill again. At least I feel I am doing something useful!
DH is trying to check out what is in my drugs..because I am normally mopey and miserable with AF, but today I can't stop grinning and he thinks I've gone loopy (more than normal anyway)
Fi - I will be thinking of you tomorrow, hope your 2nd US is all good!
Lots of :bluedust:
Cheers

I know what you mean blayz
-
HIya all,
Thanks for your good wishes, they worked!!!
Had my 2nd U/S today and all is going well. I have 9 'viable' follies and more growing which should be ready soon.
So egg pick up is scheduled for Monday!, with HCG shot on saturday night!!!!!
Amsoo happy , excited, nervous and sh*t scared as well.
Hi Lissie, thanks for popping in and giving us your thoughts and experiences. It is great to hear it from someone who has been through it before - helps to put it all in perspective. Good luck to you and your next cycle.
Cheers ppl and :bluedust: to all
Fi :hello:
-
wow kimbe a huge congrats to you hun:happyforyou:
-
-
Fiona,
Just wanted to pop in and give you luck for Monday egg pick up - i hope your clinic does not put you to sleep so you can see your eggies on the screen, my clinic never puts you to sleep but i know alot do - anyway nothing to be scared of, just a little pain , actually its that night you will feel the cramps, my tip is a heat bag after pick up, you will be a little sore for a few days, hope you get lots of GOOD eggies and hope you fert rate is high. all the best.:goodluck:
-
HI Lissie,
Thank you so much for your wishes. We are through Monash IVF and they do put you compltely under, which is a bummer.
Good luck to you.
Cheers.. Fi
-
Hi Princess Fi,
Melbourne IVF put you under completely as well. They only give you very light sedation and you wake up the minute they wheel you out.
They won't put you under if you only have one or two follies, but as soon as you have a few more, it's a bit stressful to the old body, and they will knock you out.
If you don't have a hot water bottle, or heat pack of some sort then you need to get one! The nurses always give me one as soon as i wake up, and it's a nice relief.
Good luck with the trigger. It's a bit harder than the normal jabs - but you will be fine.
Good Luck!!
-
hi there fi just wanted to wish you luck for monday hope all goes well for you:goodluck::goodluck::goodluck:hope you get lots of nice little:egg::egg::egg:
-
Fi I hope that Mon goes well for you! I wanna hear all about it. Lissie thanks for popping in and sharing your experience on it, It helps alot to hear what it is going to be like after it, pain wise and ways to help that. Anyway good Luck Fi will be thinking of you.
-
Hi ladies,
Well, we did the trigger shot last night and am pleased to say, didnt feel a thing! Just like all the other shots! My SIL gave me a handy hint of getting an ice pack and numbing up the injection site for about 5-10 mins pre injection. Tell you what - it really works!!! My triggger shot was Ovidrel, and it has lived up to its stated side effects - dizzy, and nauseus - its been fun.
Hubby & I had a lovely day today driving around the Yarra Valley wine tasting to take our minds of the big events of tomorrow, and it really worked. We had a beautiful day.
Thank you to you all - Kotare, Smithy and Blayz for your good wishes for EPU tomorrow. I am at the stage now where I just want it to happen NOW!!!
Anyway, time to take myself and my follies to bed for a good night sleep :bedtime: and  for lots of good eggies.
Will check in at some stage tomorrow (hopefully) to let you know how I go.
Cheers... Fi :hello:

Any1 in 1st IVF Cycle???
Hi Fi,
Just wanted to let you know you are in our thoughts today, hope everything goes well. Glad the trigger injection was too bad, it is the one that freaks me out the most!
Wishing you lots of :bluedust:

Hi Everyone, It's my first time on this site and you all sound like veterans already. I'm about to start ivf at the end of the month, after 2 yrs trying (am 36 now) and one failed attempt at Clomid. It all seems incredibly daunting, just trying to get my head around all the stuff you have to get right, it's like learning a new language. I look forward to seeing how everyone goes...
-
Hiya All,
Thought I would pop in and give you a bit of an update.
As you know, egg pickup was yesterday. It all went well, with 7 little :egg: 'ies collected. YAY!!!
Unfortunately, of these 7, only 5 were good good enought to use.
Of these 5, only 1 made it to today
As a result we are doing implant tomorrow.
I am hoping and praying that our little embie will make it overnight and will last long enough to meet mumma.
I am a bit down about it, as we were hoping for a few more embies to have survived and get a couple through to blasty stage. But, I guess it is not to be. At least we still have 1 emby to work with.
So, if anyone has any oldwives tales / tips etc on ways to make an emby stick, I let me know!!!!! We need all the help we can get!!!!
Heresto lots of :stickyvibesboy: to us.
Sorry for the self absorbed post, but feeling a little bit down.
Good luck to the rest of you first timers, I hope you are all going well.
Cheers... Fi
-
Oh sweetie, that's sad for you...it's the exact same result we had on our first cycle. I was a bit gutted and it seemed to be a scenario we had not even considered.
Be really kind to yourself...and when you do get your little one tomorrow, take it easy and keep up the faith and hope.
It's not much comfort to hear, but it really only does take one...and you have lots of people crossing all their fingers and toes that this little one will meet you in 9 months time.
Take care, and we'll be :pray: for you.

Hi Everyone
I haven't been on this forum for ages, before we found out we had to have IVF i think.
I am in my first cycle, currently on nasal spray and the Gonal-f pen. i have been having injections for 6 days now, i haven't had too many side effects yet a little bit of cramping and breast tenderness. Felt a bit emotional last week, but ok at the mo.
We have to have IVF with micro injection and am going for BT and Scan this Friday.
I live in SA and am going through Repromed is anyone else going through them?
Jewel
:fertilise:

Hiya all,
Kotare and Blayz, thak you so much for your kind thoughts, its amazing how much good so few words can do. I am feeling in such a better mental state than I was the other night, so thank you :)
Well, implant went ahead today, so I officially have our emby on board. Boy was that fun - drank way to much water beore hand and was petrified that I was going to pee on the dr. Then too scarred to go to the toilet after in case it dropped out!!! Sat on a tram for 1/2 an hour desperatley wanting to go to the toilet, but too scarred to!!! Man I am a fool!!!!!
Anyway, we are are hoping and praying that it will take and all will be well.
Some how I think it will be a lonnnnnnnnng 2 weeks!
Once again, thanks for the support, you guys are wonderful.
happy 1st cycle to you all, and I hope it is all going well - keep us updated.
Cheers... Fi :hello:
-
Hi all Good luck Fi
I had to increase my gonal f from 150 to 225 as my level was only 287 and it should be 500. Anyone else had this???
-
Hi everyone,
U are in my thoughts, Fi, as is your little embryo. I guess I'll be in that postion in a few weeks when hopefully u will have good news! Something I wanted to share with all on this site is a fantastic hilarious book I found called 'In Vitro Fertility Goddess' by Jodi Panayotov, Its like a Bridget Jones type story of how she went through miscarriages, ivf etc. It cheered me up and at times I was
practically rolling on the floor laughing which God knows I don't do these days.
That's all I wanted to say today, catch you soon!
Lol
Sienna:):)
-
hi there to all y ltttc buddies well ill be back to join you all in about 6 weeks glad your all doin ok blayze hun your ball is definatlly rolling now wow 7 sleeps good luk to you hun..fi best of luk to you and you little embie on board hope all goes well for you
-
Hi Everyone!
Sorry i haven't posted for a few days but I've been busy. I started the Synarel today! Yum -not! Gonal f to start probably on the 20th July. At this early stage - EPU should hopefully be between the 20th July to the 4th August. Yipeee! I may be pregnant by the middle of August.
Jewel17 sounds like we are on a similar cycle - Good luck and lots of sticky vibes to you when the time comes for your EPU!!!
Take care and lots of baby dust to all!
Tan69
-
Hi Everyone
Scan all went well on Friday. There was about 60 follicles is this normal with ivf? It sounded like a lot. My egg pickup is on Monday 16th July and transplanting back on Wednesday 18th.
Hi Tan69, thanks for the goodwishes on the EPU, hope yours comes soon and all goes well aswell.
-
Hi Jewel,
Are you sure they didnt say 16??? 60 seems like a few too many to me without OHSS occuring!
Cheers... Fi
-
yep 60 is alot even 16 is a high number. Either way it is going ahead so best wishes for this week Jewel.
Fi how are you feeling??
-
Any1 in 1st IVF Cycle???
Hi Gals,
Sienna, Jewel , welcome on board the rollercaster, hope your first cycles all go well!
Fi, I've been away this week but have been thinking of you all week, I'm so happy you are in the TWW now and am wishing you lots of :stickyvibesgirl:
Jewel, wow 60? that's huge - I had around 20 the right size and another 10 that would go over with the trigger injection and they cancelled my pick up in case of ohss. And I'd had no side effects previously to indicate I would be susceptible. Just goes to show how different everyone is. Good luck this week, hope it all goes well.
To everyone who's got EPU's and ET's this week good luck, thinking of you all!!
Cheers

Any 1 in 1st IVF Cycle?
Hi Everyone,
I've been away with DH for a few romantic days, our last before the IVF cycle begins. Wow, I don't know a lot yet about the ins and outs but 60 eggs sounds incredible. U must be a fertility goddess to have that result, congratulations!
So I've picked up the drugs and paraphernalia, there's a lot there and it looks confusing. I've already forgotten what the nurse said when she ran thru it. All I know is I start the Provera tablets later this week. Does anyone feel like they might get it wrong with all this stuff, like might inject the wrong thing on the wrong day or something? I can't believe there are so many women doing it and geting it right. I'm really nervous about all of it. Does anyone else feel like this?
-
Hi Sienna
I felt very overwelmed with it all when I picked everything up. I sat down with my info and wrote on a calender day by day what has to be taken and when. the I approached it by the day looking at the calender for that day and following my instructions then crossed that day off and now I am at scan day tomro!! It helped heaps to focus on day by day instead of the whole lot. Hope this helps.
