Just thought i would check with you and get your opinions on whether you guys buy baby items or not, during cycles and the TWW. Obviuosly I don't mean the big stuff, just little good luck items and irresistable baby outfits that are just so cute you have to buy them.
On my very first IVF attempt, DH and I decided we would but something small during the TWW as a positive good luck charm. We went out and decided upon what my sister's childen call a snuggle (one of those little blankies with a teddy attached). Anyway after it was unsuccessful i vowed that i would never buy anything again until i am actually pregnant.
That was, until, this cycle when out of no where i had this overwhelming urge to go baby shopping again. Whats more, as we were having 2 transferred, i felt the need to but two of everything - one in pink and one in blue! Have i gone completely mad!!!!
I struggled with this question - for me buying something was just asking to get my hopes up and leading to disapointment while not buying something was admitting that IVF was never going to work....in the end I did not buy anything until we got our BFP, and even then I waited till after 12 weeks.
I think it comes down to personal choice and doing what ever helps you to get through.
Hi Mollygirl,
You know me, I buy something almost every time. I have a nice little stash going. My beliefs that, one day, some day, it will happen, so I am not wasting my time or money. Lots of positive thinking books I have read say that 'what you believe, you concieve' and that you should act as though you already have what you wish for.
So I say, buy away. I don't think it is jinxing, the cycle will either work or not. But for you I pray that this is the one, and that it will be both pink and blue, and we can be belly buddies together and laugh about how much fun it is coping with twins.
Yeh I buy little things too...have quite a stash now! If it makes you feel good, and it's something small, then I figure why not...we WILL get to use these things one day, even if not from that cycle (or even that pregnancy)
