I struggled with this question - for me buying something was just asking to get my hopes up and leading to disapointment while not buying something was admitting that IVF was never going to work....in the end I did not buy anything until we got our BFP, and even then I waited till after 12 weeks.
I think it comes down to personal choice and doing what ever helps you to get through.
Hi Mollygirl,
You know me, I buy something almost every time. I have a nice little stash going. My beliefs that, one day, some day, it will happen, so I am not wasting my time or money. Lots of positive thinking books I have read say that 'what you believe, you concieve' and that you should act as though you already have what you wish for.
So I say, buy away. I don't think it is jinxing, the cycle will either work or not. But for you I pray that this is the one, and that it will be both pink and blue, and we can be belly buddies together and laugh about how much fun it is coping with twins.
Yeh I buy little things too...have quite a stash now! If it makes you feel good, and it's something small, then I figure why not...we WILL get to use these things one day, even if not from that cycle (or even that pregnancy)
yep, when I was preg with Jayvan I did the whole "buy nothing til past 12 weeks" thing, and lost him at almost 18 weeks. So, now I've been buying little bits and peices that DF and I like to coo over. If anything it's a testimate to ourselves that our next bub is homing home!
it is one of those things, you either do or you don't i suppose.
i have a 4yr daughter and have kept a lot of her things.
but i still do buy the odd cute thing, boy or girl as well.
but i decided after my last failed cycle that i was going to start a baby journal.
i have bought a blank spiral book and i am going to start and by mothers magazines.
i am going to cut out all the things i dream of having with my next baby.
there are so many things i never did with my daughter that i regret, and this time i don't want any regrets. i think i took it all for granted and my pregnancy went so fast.
i especially regret not taking more photos of my pregnancy. so i am out to look for lots of nideas on how to do things differently this time , and i want to be ready when it happens!!! soon....
the books also have a lot of informaition on concieving that is helpful too.
hope this helps. but it is a very personal. do what you think fells right.
bye
michelle
we've got some stuff. some has been given to us by "kindly'' neighbours.
but we have a cot and a nice running pram packed away. we didn't go out shopping or anything, but these items came up second hand for a good price so we just thought "what the hell''.
but i don't go ''baby shopping'' as such. i just feel, for me, it would be too difficult when/if it doesn't work.
hope that helps.
