    Default Clomid and Acupuncture?

    Hey Ladies,
I was just reading a thread regarding acupuncture and thought I might give it a try.

I am taking Clomid...I have tried 50mg and 100mg and so far no ovulation. I am on CD38 today and just waiting for AF so I can try 150mg of Clomid.

Am I able to have acunpuncture and be taking Clomid at the same time?

    Thanks
    SAM

    Hi Sam,

I recently started having acupunture (about halfway through my second clomid cycle), I advised my acupuncturist that I was using Clomid. Although she didn't have much knowledge of Clomid, she did some research and has been quite happy to treat me.
She has mainly been working with me in the first half of my cycle to increase blood flow, etc, with minimum treatment in the second half of the cycle. She has only used herbs once and that was when I had AF (to clean everything out). She has recommended possibly seeing a chinese medical fertility specialist if we end up going down the IVF path though. I find it very relaxing and enjoyable, wish I could say the same for my DH who I talked into going also.
Just explain the situation and I am sure you will be fine.

You should be able to find an acupuncturist who will use acupuncture to complement any other medicine you are taking. Where do you live Sam?? Hopefully someone on here knows a good one near you.

As fas as I can work out, the main benefit of acupuncture in treating infertility is increasing blood flow to your reproductive area... for some reason, this helps things work better!

I just noticed you live in Sydney! Do check out the clinic in Rozelle.... google them or check out the other thread on here about acupuncture. They are really good there, and understand about other fertility treatments, and are therefore very good at treating you with acupuncture while you are going through other "western" treatments.

    Hi,
I did but just check with your accupunturist and IVF clinic. After 5 failed IVF attempts I had a 6 month break and had accupunture and herbs. Then I did IVF again with accupunture (no herbs as you can't, I know that much) and fell pregnant. I now have a 14 month old son. Good Luck. Hugs.

    Hey Ladies,
I called Rozelle Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Centre and made an appt and I can't get in until May 3rd!!
The girl on the phone, SAlly, seemed so lovely! I am so positive about it.
    Thanks for your advice.

Sammy, soon as I saw this thread and that you lived in Sydney I was going to say go to Rozelle - they are fantastic! Did you ask them to wait list you for an earlier appointment? But, it's only three weeks - we had a much longer wait before our first appointment. All the girls there are lovely - it's usually Sally or Mel behind the desk (on the phone) and I've really only seen Leah, but she's just wonderful!

They do really know a lot about working in support of clomid, IVF, etc. And they will usually try acupuncture and diet changes alone before they start giving you herbs. Do you chart, Sammy? Leah's always quite interested in my temperature charts as it apparently tells her a lot of what's going on for me. You'll also need to be prepared for having in-depth detailed discussions about the nature of your periods and your bowel motions... it feels a bit weird and first, but you do get used to it. I've been going weekly for quite a long time, and while I'm still not pregnant yet (we're a complicated pair!), I'm confident that we will get there, and I know for a fact that it has been Leah and our weekly chats and acupuncture treatments that have helped get me through a very difficult year.

I'm sorry - I'm just raving on here! I simply can't sing their praises highly enough! I keep myself booked up months ahead just so I know I won't be missing an appointment!
