    Question Clomid question

If on clomid is it supposed to make your cycle regular? ie is your AF supposed to arrive on day 28? or if it normally comes on CD26 will it come then??? I guess it varies for most people and the dose but am wanting to know when to expect AF
    TIA

Clomid can and often does change your cycle. If you have a shorter cycle, it can often make it longer. Ovulation is not guaranteed at all, let alone on day 14!!

I remember when we used Clomid - I hated it because I had no idea when I was o'ing! We used the Billings method (mucus) to identify O, but since Clomid reduces and changes mucus, I felt totally in the dark - totally hopeless when it came to trying to work out when O was happening.

The best thing to do is get lots of monitoring done (which our old FS didn't want to do for us). Get blood tests and an ultrasound or two done so you know exactly when you are going to O, so you don't miss it.

I think a higher dose of Clomid may make your cycle longer than a lower dose - since it may take longer for your body to recover the estrogen. It probably depends to, on whether you normally have a lot of estrogen, or have been estrogen deficient (which I had been just before starting Clomid - so Clomid was horrible because it made my estrogen levels go sooo low - acne like I had never seen before!).

Anyway, all the best with it. Let us know how it goes.

I started on 50mg of clomid and I'm now on 100mg. It brought my cycles into 35 days from 60. I have been taking it since May 2006 and in that time I haven't had any obvious signs of O. We start our second round of tracking on Wednesday and like Shell says it really gives you an idea of what's going on.

    Hi,
The first cycle of Clomid I took was 50mg and it didn't make me ovulate so I never got AF. I had to take PRovera to bring on AF then start 100mg Clomid.
I am now up to CD28 and have had two scans, one on CD14 and one on CD21 and both showed no dominant follicle. So I am not sure if this cycle will be a bust also??
So I really never know what is going on? Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Hey Blayz

I was extremely fortunate and got pregnant on our first cycle of clomid.

I do ovulate...and have fairly regular cycles...I think the clomid was given to me as a "hormone boost"...

I did notice however, that my ovulation date was about 3-4 days later than expected (around day 17-18)..

Hi Blayz, Like everything else in the world of TTC nothing happens like you hope it does.
Chlomid shortened my cycle by three days for Ovulation and AF, but two months later and both disappeared. Persistence is the key, your days may vary somewhat, but just keep on smiling and do the best you can! Im now about to move onto 100mg, hope it helps.

    Hi Blayz,

I have just started on my third cycle of clomid - 50g. I was ovulating naturally and had fairly regular cycles too, but I have noticed that since being on clomid it has increased my cycle length from 26-28 days to 30 days, giving me a better length luteal phase (and some major hot flushes). I am also trying to use the billings method and it plays havoc with mucus levels making it almost impossible to pick up on natural symptoms.
Shellshell - I have an appointment with my gyno on Wednesday, I may ask about some of the monitoring that you mentioned (at this stage we have only been getting the day 21 blood test and thats it)
Good luck with TTC Blayz and good luck with the clomid.

    Hi Ladies,
I am on my first cycle of clomid (50mg). I have had +ve OPK's on cd 12 & 13 & EWCM on cd 12 & 14 (only little bits mind you). In the past I have O'd naturally on cd 12, 13 & 14. I am now cd15 & still no temp dip. Has anyone heard of this happening while on clomid. I am getting a bit freaked out that my temps dont match the OPK, CM info.Getting a little concerned......

    Hi Blayz,

When I was on Clomid, first month of 50mg and then the next three of 100mg, my period was a set 28 days every month - I loved it!! apart from the hot flushes I had, it was excellent at determining Ovulation especially as I developed really sharp pains which were spot on day 14 every month.

Like everybody has said, it will effect each individual differently.

    Good luck with it.

Hi Blayz, my normal cycle is 26 days. Started my first cycle of clomid mid March and unfortunately had my AF today - which is my 28th day.

I had dizzy spells and also blurred vision as a result of clomid. No hot flushes though.

    good luck.

    Hey Maria,

Did you tell your specialist you had vision problems while taking Clomid? I think that is one of the side effects you are definitely supposed to tell your specialist about. Are you doing another cycle?

    All the best,
    Shellshell

    Hi Shellshell,

My specialist told me of the possible side effects and vision problems was one of those that were mentioned.

I'll be starting my second cycle this week.

    Regards.

    HI Smithy,
I take mine on CD5-9...I have no idea why? It is just what my FS told me to do.
I think that every FS tells everyone different days to take it?
    Good Luck

    Hi Smithy,

Good luck on your third lot of clomid. I'm still contemplating if I will take my third lot this cycle as I had side effects on clomid (head aches, ear aches and blurred vision). I will hv my first appointment with an RE on Monday. The clomid was prescribed by my OB/GYN. I also hv once a week acupuncture and taking Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbs daily.

I have been taking Clomid CD2-6, this cycle took it CD3-7 as i couldnt get the tablets on time but it really depends on what your FS tells you. If you take it on different days it does change your o day.

    Hey all,

Have been taking Clomid for the past 3 months....just read by previous threads in this forum that it changes your cervical mucus...it answers some questions I definitely had! Clomid has certainly regulated my cycles and has made it that I definitely o on day 14/15.

Has anyone however noticed that it does anything to your hair? You know how some drugs can do that? My hair has just become very dry and hard to manage. Am I making sense or is it all in my mind?
