I use another site where the women are older and have tried many IVF attempts. Many of them have been to an acupuncturist in Balwyn (not sure if she is a naturopath as well) and she seems to be seen as one of the alternative fertility experts in Melbourne. I can't remember her name but let me know if you want it as I can easily find it.
There is also a naturopath I have been to in Nunawading who has a good reputation with fertility issues. I went to him once and did not go back as he said I was very healthy and he could not treat me for anything related to helping my fertility. (so that was refreshingly honest!) There is a lady in my mums group who went to him. She is overweight and was on metformin for a while with no success. He put her on a gluten free diet and gave her lots of other herbs and she got pg twice but miscarried and now is 43 and due to have a baby in 3 weeks. She absolutley believes his treatment got her body right to be able to carry this pg. Again, I can give you his name. He certainly wasn't as expensive as you described.
As for improving egg quality, some alternative practitioners say that can be done but there is no scientific evidence. I took the herbs that the "amazonian medicine woman" who was on the news last year prescribes. It cost me about $2,5000 for 4 months worth. We only gave it about 3 months to see if it would work as I am 44 and had been trying to conceive number 2 for 3.5 years (after having no difficulties conceiving number 1). So we just did our first IVF cycle and it worked! I got 14 eggs which is pretty miraculous for my age so maybe her herbs had some influence, but we will never know as I had not done IVF before so have no comparison.
sorry, didn't mean to write an epic. I guess it comes down to the fact that if DH is not "fixable" - I think was the word you used - then IVF is the way to go. but naturapathy can only help your general health. the only thing is, they don't like you using anything else while doing IVF.
I have been lurking and following your journey a little in LTTC so I know you sound very ready for something positive to happen. I hope you get there soon.
