I have read on some web sites that you are supposed to have a full bladder for your embryo transfer, but my clinic has not mentioned this.
Does anyone know what the story is??
Thanks!

well I hope the web site is wrong, because only hours ago I had another embryo transfer, and just had to use the bathroom before I went in !! I know that the embryo cannot fall out, but I also don't like the idea of having to go to the bathroom very soon after transfer.......
I'm sure they would have mentioned it if it was important. The sites I've been looking at have just said that it is easier to see where to put the embryo when it is guided by ultrasound if the bladder is full. I'm not even sure if mine will be done by ultrasound though.
I've had two transfers and never been requested to have a full bladder. The process is prett much like a pap smear, and I have not had the transfer guided by ultrasound.
I believe that's only if you have an ultrasound guided transfer. Mine wasn't, and I was actually told to go in with an empty bladder as it's more comfortable.
If it was something your clinic needed, they would have made it clear before hand. Good luck!

I was asked to have a full bladder for mine as they did an abdominal ultrasound at the same time to ensure correct placement. Some places don't do it with an ultrasound though, so maybe that's the case with yours.
I think they are all very different. I had to have a full bladder for my transfer
I didn't have to have a completely full bladder but they did give me 2 glasses of water to drink before hand.
Hi i am new to this website but have had 3 IVF cycles and had to have a full bladder for all of them.
I have a question re: blastocyst transfer...have only ever had day 2 transfers and am about to do another FET (have 4 frozen embies) and am wondering whether to try blastocyst stage, i suppose i am nervous because i only have four and am worried they won't survive to that stage and then end up not having a transfer at all...hope this makes sense
