    HI Janine

I see Dr Hale at MIVF and really like him, he is very thorough and doens't waste time, although his waiting list is about 3.5 months.

I hear that Dr Tsaltas is very good also.

    Good luck

    Cheers

    Jane

    Hi Jane,

Thanks for the reply. Do you mind telling me how long he said it could take for a success? I had my IUIs with Dr Tsaltas, and when asked them about IVF they told me that it takes on average 7 - 8 tries before most get a BFP? That seems long to me (I know theres no guarantee of course, but that just seems long). I haven't got Medicare so I have to pay the Overseas Visitors Rate which is $8200 per cycle - 8 of those is alot of dosh.

Thanks Sophie... How long have you been seeing him for and how long does he reckon it could take?

    Hi there,

I'm one of Lyndon Hale's patients as well. I haven't met Dr Tsaltas but have heard that he is good. Is he the endometriosis expert?

Lyndon has a very good reputation. There is often a wait to get in to see him (could be six months ... depending on how many people he is currently seeing). We were one of the lucky ones who had success first cycle, first try. He also diagnosed my endo and cleaned it up. As Jane said he's very thorough and patient but doesn't muck around either.

Good luck with whoever you choose. MIVF is a nice friendly clinic.

    Mel

Edited to add: I'm sorry but I didn't address the part of your question about how long it might take. I'm guessing you might have been given an average figure but everyone's case is so different I don't know how they can determine what would be "average" if you know what I mean.

Thanks Mel. Yes Dr. Tsaltas is the Endo expert. I guess I just got a fright at the 8 tries comment... But he is a good doctor so I may stick with him... I was hoping someone here might have used him for IVF. Maybe I'll give them a call about Dr. Hale too, just in case. I like the sound of your success on the first try!! :-) Thanks alot!!

Lyndon keeps telling me he is going to try and have me pregnant by CHristmas LOL, I think he's serious too. I won't hold him to his word if it doesn't happen, but he never mentioned 8 times as a ballpark.

I hope he's right and I am using Melbo as my inspiration It would be the most fantastic christmas present I think.

Hey Jane, That sounds VERY promising! It really helps to have faith in your doctors (and for them to have faith in themselves...) I guess if even THEY don't think they'll get it right in less than 8 then how are we supposed to?

I'll be praying for you!!! How many have you already done by the way, or are you just about to start?

Janine I went with Jim Tsaltas and I found him to be lovely. I was one of the lucky one's to haven fallen pregnant first time and I am now 8 weeks pregnant. I think he did mention the average amount of times that women found success but he also mentioned that that depended on so many things. He gave us more hope in finding success quickly due to our age( I am 32 ) and that I had been pregnant before even though it was an unsuccessful pregnancy.

Think positively, you are only 30 and I did notice that you had been pregnant before ( sorry for your loss ) so I would think you will find success quickly. I wish you the best of luck and I hope to hear some good news soon.

    Lots of Love Linda

That's I good point Linda. I am similar age (nearly 32) and have also been pregnant before, so I am sure these were factors that Dr Hale considered when giving a rough estimate of success. I also miscarried at around the 5 week mark.

I have had endo for years and Dr Tsaltas is one name that has always been around as one of the better endo/infertility specialists in Melbourne.

Janine - I am about to start my first down reg cycle in about 10 days, just waiting for AF, so hopefully if she is going to arrive I hope she's on time so I can get cracking.

    All the best

Thanks Linda, that really gives me hope. Congrats on your pregnancy, thats so exciting!
He did say that seeing as though I was paying the whole lot out of pocket that he'd be a bit more aggressive in my treatment so hopefully we'd see results quicker and our situations are similar so thats good... During the IUI I only produced 1 or 2 eggs on 112iu Gonal F, so I didn't really see what was so different to a natural cycle for me.

Good luck to you on your first cycle Jane, they seem like they know what they're doing there at MIVF so I'm hoping it'll be a short ride for you too.

I'm very sorry about both your losses as well. Its so hard to get over but I guess we will someday.

Thanks for the inside info Mel, I'll definately make use of that once I get there ...
