Yes I think seeing someone else is a very good idea. Don't go back to him. I still think he could have unblocked your tubes. Before I even went in for my Laparoscopy my ob/gyno said that he would flush them. So it is possible.

Good Luck in finding a better gyno. Maybe ask around on here if anyone near you has a good gyno they can recommend

Nikki - I'm so sorry that you have been through all this... Just reading your post about how you left the Gyno's feeling like an idiot just fires me up unbelieveably... Why is it that some specialists think we know nothing because we don't have a degree.. I also think a lot of them prefer it when we don't know what's going on so we can't pick up on the mistakes they make (or the golf game we know they're late for...) I think you are so right in sourcing another specialist.. I was in a similar boat when I saw my first FS and she made me cry at both appointments I had with her and I figured this was just the way it had to be, but a friend encouraged me to try someone else and I left that appointment with tears of joy and felt trust with my new FS... I don't want to give you false hope but it's possible that your current Gyno only believes your tubes are blocked because he stuffed up your Lap... If you make an appointment with a new Dr all you should have to do to get your medical notes from a-hole Dr is to tell new Dr's receptionist where you were going and they should transfer your notes over without you ever having to set foot in that office again...
    Good luck sweetie...

I have worked with doctors and you wouldn't BELIEVE how true that statement is!!!!! They like to call it a "meeting in the green room".

    Nikki,

I haven't read the whole thread but I am going to make a suggestion based on what I have read in the last two pages.

Firstly, this is not something for a regular gyno. You are trying to conceive, you need to see an Fertility Specialist (who are gynos specialising in fertility treatment and testing). You don't need to be cut up to see whether your tubes are blocked, and an FS would know which tests that need to be done that are the least invasive as possible, to determine what it is that's causing your difficulties.

And for the idiot gyno to say a HSG is more pain than a lap? You just KNOW he's a man who's never been through it himself. What a ridiculous thing to say! I've had 3 laps and 1 HSG and I'd take a HSG any day, and that's even with them putting loads and loads of pressure on my tubes to try to unblock them. Painful? Yes. But not even close to the incisions of a lap, FFS!

I reckon you should call your local Fertility Clinic and ask which consulting fertility specialists work from there. Then see your GP and get a referral to the FS you like. Give the idiot gyno the flick, have your HSG if you can, but bring the results and your other medical records to a Fertility Specialist who will be able to interpret the results and at least give you an idea of where to go next if it does turn out your tubes are blocked. There ARE options, you just need to get away from closed-minded Drs who think they know better, and find someone who will speak to you like the inteilligent person you are.

It's not easy, I know, hun, to be facing this all and being pushed and pulled by your medical team and made to feel like you're not cluey enough to know what's good for you. But remember, you are the one who's MOST looking out for your best interests, so please don't be scared to ask questions, challenge their opinions, make your needs known.

I'm on PM if you would like to chat about it, or even just vent about the situation? I've BTDT, and in circumstances so similar to yours (secondary infertility, blocked tubes etc) so will help as much as I am able to.

Hi guys - thanks again for all your support

Lilmiss - yeah i was wondering how ill get the info about the lap sent to a FS... I really didnt want to have to go back there... I honestly dont know anything abt all of this, but to me and ALL the other girls in here think having another lap done is silly... So i really dont care what my (ex) gyno said because i got the referal for the HSG and thats all i wanted anyway

Sushee - thankyou so much for popping in here...I know what you mean... alot of people told me just to go straight to an FS but obviously i thought the best way to check my tubes (because thats all i was really worried abt) was to go to a GYNO and get that done.... now i totally understand that i should have went straight to an FS
Obviously with the LAP it doesnt hurt while it is happening.. but gosh the pain after lasts for atleast a week (well it did for me anyway) it was terrible and truely i dont want to do that again... unless i have to... So i cant imagine a HSG being to bad... yes i have heard sometimes it hurts but i truely dont care about that i just want to find out what is going on
A couple of ladies had recommended me a FS so im going to look into that ASAP
I really appreciate you coming in here and tell me all this..... i would love to send you a msg and ask you a couple of questions if you dont mind (if its to personal i totally understand)

(or the golf game we know they're late for...)
I have worked with doctors and you wouldn't BELIEVE how true that statement is!!!!! They like to call it a "meeting in the green room".
A few people have said this to me but i thought surely NOT... Its really hard these days to know who you cant trust or not

Nikki please do feel free to PM me hun. My life is a open book here on BB, so nothing is too personal, and I do truly want to make it as easy for you as possible. It was actually beautiful rufalina that asked me to pop into this thread to see if I could help (I can be a bit oblivious sometimes when I get busy at work), so please know you have many people who care about you and want you to get the answers you're seeking.

Hun you are getting some great advice - well done to Sush and Ruf!!

I think knowledge is power and you KNOW that another lap could potentially do more harm than good. Everytime they go in there with their instruments there is potential for scar tissue and possible mistakes. It's also very invasive (when you think of it in terms of TTC) and as you mentioned - the recovery week can be horrific. If he knows where the problem lies - in this case, your tubes, then he should have advised you on the different options available to you.

Thank god for BB because had you not been armed with the information you would be booked in for another lap.

You should be so so proud of yourself for standing your ground with him. I would never go back to a doctor that didn't explain my options, particulary when it comes to something as sensetive as this. He should have recommended the least invasive route considering you are TTC. What an a$$!!

Focus on having a lovely Christmas and a happy New Year hun.

In regards to CD6 - how long does AF go for usually? Perhaps ring the clinic and ask them if it matters if you have AF.

Smithy - i love all the info you have given me.... it really does make things alot easier

Amy - Yep i know... I think its crazy that he wants to give me another LAP... Especially when there are more easier ways to check my tubes
I usually stop AF at cd5... but this cycle has been weird and i havent stoped till today cd7.. They wont do a HSG if you have AF/spotting... they said it has to be after af/spotting and before CD10... doesnt give much room to play with
