Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Our FET got cancelled this month because the douche in admin forgot to send out our consent forms & I can't have tests done tomorrow because we can't find a JP to witness our signatures before my 7am appt... I'm so angry I could punch something! 😡
-

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Gosh that's a tough choice to make 1MP... They say weight is a big issue for some not others but having surgery you would need to give yourself time to be well enough physically & emotionally for transfer... The clinic has been text in me all day apologizing but it doesn't give me back a month of cycle does it? 😕
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Oh chellico thats awful! A lot of pharmacists are jps, could you get to a 24 hour chemist?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Chellico I've been thinking of you and really hoping you found a JP, I would be so cranky I would definately make a big deal of it to someone like you said you've lost a month and that's not fair, I'm so sorry xxx

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
So bloody typical! I have had 32 day cycle since I was 11 and this month of all months AF comes 4 days early :( This means when I get back from Bali I will be CD16 and I normally ovulate on day 17 but given I had a short cycle this past month who knows.
The clinic has put me down as a tracking cycle and if we catch it then FET will go ahead, if we don't then I will just be charged for a tracking cycle. I know it sounds silly but I just feel gutted, we have been waiting so long for this cycle and now my body doesn't want to play the game!
Junipur would you mind changing me to CD1 when you have a sec hun x
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
No 24hr pharmacies where we live unfortunately and the only JP's I could find were at court house between 10am-12pm that we could both get to at the same time to sign consents together and they were by appt only so our cycle has been cancelled this month... I understand why they have consent forms but on our 1st visit with clinic they should of had us pre-sign all the consents for FET etc... I don't see why our signatures need to be witnessed by only our GP/JP there are a thousand qualified witnesses lawyers, nurses, police, etc so frustrated & feeling really defeated today... 😞
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
So sorry Chellico, I don't know why you had to have a JP witness and sign, all I had to have was a witness:-(
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Chellico - that is beyond frustrating. Like this is not hard enough already without dumb f ups like that. I feel so angry on your behalf.
Amy - hoping your body is kind and does what you need it to do. So frustrating to have no control over our own bodies.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Chellico that is so disappointing & frustrating! I'm so sorry.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
That's awful Chellico - I can't believe they don't have checks in place to stop that kind of oversight :( I can only imagine how annoyed and upset you must be! Hugs!
Amy, that's super frustrating! Finger's crossed the timing works out for you!
I haven't been able to work out my O this month, but going on previous cycles it's possible I'm in the 2ww. If I am, tomorrow would be day 10 - do I test or wait a few more days before being disappointed?!?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Ah, Chellico, that sucks.
Amy FX your cycle adapts and you can go ahead anyway.
Please put me down as CD 4 today. I saw the FS yesterday and he has prescribed testosterone and melatonin to increase egg numbers. He was pretty honest. Having no embryos grow past day 3 is not a good sign, and he thinks it point to egg quality, which there isn't much they can do about. So this cycle we try to bump up the numbers and we will use the embryoscope.
If there is slow development from day 1, and none develop beyond day 3 again, it will suggest that there might not be much point in going on.
I haven't been able to discuss this with DP yet. But if that means the end for us, I'm totally not ready to accept that. Only one more chance? How come other couples try for years before they give up? Even after 40?
What can I do about egg quality?

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Pholi, the choice to stop treatments is yours, not your FS's. If you want to go ahead knowing there are lower odds of success, then you have every right to make that choice. As for improving egg quality, the most common treatments are CoQ10, melatonin and DHEA. Be careful with the testosterone - if your levels are normal (ie not low) to begin with, adding testosterone can actually make egg quality worse. You should really have your levels tested before starting, but I've found most Drs don't bother to test (and tell you it's not necessary when you ask). Acupuncture can also help to improve egg quality. Most treatments for egg quality (CoQ10, DHEA and acupuncture) are most effective when used over the full growth cycle of the egg (4 months) rather than just in the stim cycle. I think melatonin is the one exception that acts on the egg in it's final stage of growth rather than the full growth cycle, but double check that rather than taking my word for it.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Thanks Juniper.
He said that a short course of both testosterone and the melatonin can be effective over just one cycle. He did say that DHEA needs at least 3 months. But he said they improve egg numbers, by bringing primordial eggs to a stage that Gonal f can act on them, rather than improving egg quality.
I think I might be getting into the territory of less tried and tested treatments and outcomes now. :/
I had thought about acupuncture. I wonder if it was worth it. And if DS would sit in his pram and watch play school on my iPhone for the duration of a session!
How long does coQ10 take to be effective? And is there a form its best in, or a brand or dosage recommended?
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Juniper, could you please put me as CD2. I'm losing the plot, AF came on CD26. My cycles are getting shorted and I'm on my way to menopause :(.
Chellico, I'm sorry about the cancelled FET. That sucks :(
Pholi, I'm so sorry to hear about your. Big hugs lovely and good luck with the melatonin and COQ10.
Hello to everyone else, I'll try and catch up a bit in here, been so slack and unmotivated. Again. Still trying to save for the very expensive and last cycle.
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Pholi, I don't post in here very often but I have done the protocol you're talking about. I took coq10 (600mg ubiquonol daily) for over two years, 75mg DHEA for a year, 4mg compound melatonin for a year....along with a myriad of other things such as steroids, human growth hormone, a cancer drug called filgrastim, etc, etc, etc.....It did nada. But then, nothing worked for me. You have a miracle already so you might have more luck as your body at least knows what it's meant to do! Good luck!

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Pholi, I go to acupuncture in the evenings, after DH is home from work. I have also gone on Saturday mornings in the past. No way DD would sit still and let me relax if I took her with me...
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Thanks for sharing your story, N2L. I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I have to hope that it will for me.
I've booked in to acupuncture, Juniper. After hours appointments were not going be available in time, so I'll try to get someone to look after DS while I'm there.

Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
I have a little bit of hope this month! Got v faint second line on Sat, and more convincing today. I've had so many chem pregs, and it's almost exactly a year since the last mc, so I don't dare get excited. Just called my ob & found out he's on leave til 8th October, so now I'm going to have to wait til the 9th before seeing if it's ok to get excited. Going to be a looooong 3.5 weeks :(
-
Re: Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception August 2014
Crossing everything for you twollamas. Sounds really hopeful. 3.5wks is a ling time to wait though. How many sticks are you likely to pee on between now and then.;)
